I just had a lucid dream this morning without 'asking' for it. I enjoyed it and relaxed without worrying about it. I spoke to a dreamling who asked me who I was. I told him that I was him and he was me, which prompted him to appear confused 😄 the rest of the lucid dream involves meeting other dreamlings and it turned erotic (couldn't help myself) so I won't go into detail to keep this family friendly 😉

I am 66 and had my first lucid dream last night! I dreamt I was in a parking garage and driving out. On my way out I noticed it looked different than when I drove in. The ramp was too narrow for my car. I realised then it was a dream and I started breaking down the wall with my hands so I could get out (it was not a nightmare at all). The concrete felt like polistirene. At some stage I looked at my hands and they actually looked very real. (I forgot to count my fingers!) In fact everything did. Then it gradually faded away and I woke up. Thank you Daniel for an amazing experience and showing me the way.

One of the hardest problems I come across in lucid dreaming (and something that stops me) is definitely overthinking. I tend to overcorrect myself, which can lead to me often thinking about how I can micromanage my practices so I can have more lucids (which is a results-based mentality, which isn't good either). This planning on how to micromanage myself often leaves me disillusioned with the topic and makes me want to quit and burnout. It's something where it's a double edged sword - I have identified what I can improve on but fixing them, in turn, has become a daunting task. It's definitely something that holds me back. In order to save myself from repeating previous comments (and because my brain is having quite a bit of brain fog), leaving a shorter comment today. This is a very important video and goes well with the short that was published today (at the time of posting). Great editing as well!
@RainisaurusRox
@RainisaurusRox 5 месяцев назад
You should do a lucidity test every time you start to overthink stuff ;). Daniel told me to do lucidity tests when I catch myself daydreaming and it is bonkers how many tests I do now. Still room for improving of course :D. You overthinking is part of your psychology, don't see it as something you have to fix ASAP, the first step is to notice and you can take advantage of it by using it as a trigger for LTs. Chances are high that your overthinking, if you take a close look at your dream journal, is present in your dreams as well so the moments you start overthinking are basically dream signs. When you start doing LTs in that moments it will automatically help with your overthinking too. :)

I observed from my dreams that they cant really replicate my family and the people i live with. I either never talk to them or they are VERY off from when they usually are. "Distraction, confusion and all the rest" reminds me of the meaning of "life, the universe and all the rest" ... and felt a bit called out by the talking about discussion: Talking about LDing is probably one of the most fun aspects of our current life! But there's talking, and there's talking, if that makes sense😀 (and I hope it doesn't sound arrogant, if so, I apologise)

It's funny how something can be simple in one way, but complex in terms of the subtleties. We can, I think, build a bit of a caricature of LD practice in our minds, such that we are doing things that are almost parodies of doing what actually works, and going through the motions with the wrong mindset. I certainly have fallen into that pattern. I guess that's why videos from you that peel back more of the subtle layers, and "new takes" on things you have said before in other ways, are constantly valuable; they are like reminders to course-correct.

Interesting video. On the topic of meditation and lucid dreaming, I was considering conducting an experiment on myself to see if meditation increases my rates of lucid dreaming compared to periods of not meditating before bed. I have noticed in general that meditating before bed heightens my chances of getting lucid that night, but I'm not sure if it's a placebo or if it actually works.
@RainisaurusRox
@RainisaurusRox 5 месяцев назад
I would say, meditating before bed can lead to better, healthier sleep and so can increase the chances of lucid dreams. Same with going to bed earlier or having a healthy sleep routine in general. You could say, not eating Cheeseburgers and drinking Coke before bed increased your chances for lucid dreams and you wouldn't be wrong. It's just, the better your sleep, the better your chances of lucid dreams.

Max: I have had a handful of lucid dreams. Most were only a few minutes long feeling. I have had realistic Dissociative daydreams aswell. I don't know how to trigger lucid dreams though. It has unfortunately seemed fairly random in my case. I also think my utter mental exhaustion is probably not helping. It's also difficult when I have at least 20 people sharing the same brain to try and convince us all to dedicate ourselves to the subject and we haven't been able to as much as I would like to lately. I feel like my brain is fighting me there.

3:46 So your saying I should not focus on lucid dreaming possibilities, but rather the things I’m not doing for lucid dreaming? Is it possible you could break it down a bit more for me? Thank you
@RainisaurusRox
@RainisaurusRox 5 месяцев назад
No, you absolutely should be focusing on possibilities. You shouldn't focus on the results to much. It goes hand in hand with talking about lucid dreaming. Reddit is all about, "how many lucid dreams do you have, I have 200 every night", "how good is your dream control?", stuff like that. That approach burns you out without having any benefits. You should focus on possibilities, like try to have morning nap on your day off, focus on your daily practice and how to improve them and what holds you back. When starting with Lucidity Tests you will notice that you aren't doing nearly enough. Focus on that, what distracted you through out the day, why didn't you remember to do the tests, what were you thinking. This stuff is taking a lot of time, thinking and practice and that's where you should give your attention. It's easier to focus on reading 10 books, watching countless videos or getting engaged in some forums but that stuff can waste your time and energy and it doesn't really get you somewhere and it gets old. Focusing on yourself, on your practices, your mind, it's hard at first but it NEVER gets old and will lead to more lucid dreams and even a better quality of life. You don't really have much control over how many lucid dreams you have, at least as a beginner, so you shouldn't focus on that part. You have control over your lucid dreaming practice, your thinking and stuff, your actions. You should focus on the things you are in control over. The lucid dreams will come as a side product but they are not really some kind of accomplishment, your daily practice is.

i have a question : is it normal to remember dreams and nightmares from childhood like you just dreamed it minutes ago? i mean, these memories are very sharp and supervivid. one thing's for sure, my childhood nightmares where extremely vivid and scary and i had nightmares for almost every nights. keep in mind, i was bullied a lot in school, didn't like the school i got to and had a rough time with anxiety and panic disorder so the dreams usualy gets scarier because of that i guess. but the strange thing is is that i remember them as vivid as they were happened like yesterday. some occasions i still have a very vivid nightmare but those are few and far between now that i grow older. but why are these memories so vivid? is it something to worry about or is this normal and even healthy? these dreams i remember comes at the weirdest moments when i'm doing stuff that reminds me of said dream. i write books and draw and paint and i use my dreams and Vivid Childhood Nightmares as inpsiration so nightmares and extreme vivid dreams are not always a bad thing. as for lucid dreams, i had'nt had one in a long, time but thats probably not true as i had one in the beginning of April but it was not the best Lucid dream but i still was very much longer lucid but that ended up in a False Awakening. and again, that Lucid Dream mainly revolved around flying. and checking my weird distorted hands.
@RainisaurusRox
@RainisaurusRox 5 месяцев назад
I think, after talking to a lot of people about this matter, it's not normal :D. I never met someone who remembers their childhood dreams except my mom and her father. Myself thou, I remember dreams from when I was 4 years old. The good AND the bad dreams, I had really bad dreams :D. They just stuck and I'm fine with it. :D. If it bothers you, talk to a therapist, if not, except it, if you like it be thankful. I'm very thankful cuz I'm into horror and I'm writing a Cosmic Horror Novel myself and a lot of the themes in my book are grounded in my childhood nightmares, even pieces of dialogue found their way in. I think it's pretty unique but maybe people don't want to talk about it.

@@RainisaurusRox i can live with it but i was just wondering if its normal or not but it actually is helpfull for my writing as well. also i'm an artist who not only writes books (have published one book already) but also paints and draws but more a fan of drawing and i drew a lot of my nightmares, weird dreams, and even the more recent dreams i had been writing in a dreamjournal but the memories of childhood nightmares are so big that i actually draw most of those scenes wich also get into my books so yeah, for me its a curse (the curse to remember how scared i was in that nightmare) and a gift (to write and draw it down) so i'm also quite thankfull. the reason i asked this question is just simply if its a normal thing or not, guess its not normal then. o well, at least we both are artists that can use there childhood dreams we still vividly remember and put them in our works. question for you, do you also draw or paint or is it only writing. for me its Writing and Drawing and sometimes painting but i'm still not good with acrylic paints (i dont work with Oil as i cant stomach the smell and also its hard to dry as with acryllic paint it doesnt smell bad and also dries quickly so you can work on it the next day or week). painting is very hard and i cant go into detail but my drawings are very good (at least my friends think so) and the writing books is mainly non published books but i had published one book wich had Lucid Dreaming parts in it and some non Lucid Dreams. anyway, Stay Lucid and Sweet dreams
@netabolt6546
@netabolt6546 5 месяцев назад
@@RainisaurusRox ps : also forgot to tell it in the comment but i actually have written a Horror Novel based on one of my nightmares that stayed with me even to this day. as its not for publish yet i cant tell a lot of details but it revolves around a school and a Slimy ditch (moat, what you call that in the woods, not a river but smaller and i think its a ditch or moat) thats grey black colored slime. the book is based on that nightmare but thats only one or two chapters in the book. other scenes have other dreams of mine in it that fit the theme. its still a Work in Progress so its probably not even going for Publishing for the next ten years or so. if i even want to publish more books. also, i have drawn a lot of that dream (that grey slime ditch/moat deep in the woods)

@@netabolt6546 Unfortunately I can't draw for the love of it :D. Stuff can become descent but I never did it for a longer period of time cuz damn, it costs and after moving in with my girlfriend and her cats, I can't have stuff laying around to dry :D. Like I said, I don't know it's normal remembering this dreams, maybe people just don't want to talk about them. Maybe they could remember if they tried. Hard to tell. I think it's rather unique thou.
