You know what Padraig, you're a great dude for doing all these. Talk about giving back. Good on you, really, I just found these and will take the time to watch them all and be better for it. Can't wait to root for you down the stretch cause you're gonna win again!!
'It will bring peace to you' 'Familiarity is what you're looking for in your putting, not more than that' I love the way thig guy talks. He's suffered all the pain and anxiety we have over the ball, he's eliminated the bs and stupidity we tell ourselves and reduced it down to a simple truth. I need more of this.
This man has an absolutely encyclopedic knowledge of golf. Teaching with absolute conviction and the results to back it up. Sure hope he writes an instructional book soon.
You nailed it when you said “use your practice stroke for the speed”. Then…. Repeat that stroke. That takes care of that aspect. I see so many people take practice strokes that are ridiculously too hard, or too fast. It doesn’t help them at all. Once I get the speed I need with my practice stroke, I have 1 task. Start it perfectly online. Period! I also don’t worry about the outcome, just like he said. They all won’t go in, but you’ll be surprised at how many that do. Great video!
I saw your chipping explanation re distances that each club goes in the air and then releases a long time ago possibly Fox. Focus on where you want the ball to land and select appropriate club. It is excellent. Can you send a link or redo that session. Great advice, appreciated. Russell Brisbane
Congratulations Paddy great job winning the 2022 senior US Open champion I'd like to see a video on holding composure standing over that 3-footer to win.
I re-watched your previous putting videos before this one. They make a very cool series, thanks Padraig. I'd love to see some of your own favourite putting drills.
Great video. I know exactly what you are asking me to do. I've watched so many of these and the guy gets so in the weeds I don't even know what he wants me to do. Thanks Paddy!
The tip about looking at a blade of grass really has helped me loads. My last comment was a month ago and since I've followed this tip and committed to the stroke, my putting has vastly improved. So much so that I've dropped 4+ shots on my handicap (15 to 10.5), mainly down to not three putting anywhere near what I used to. Once again, thanks Paddy and good luck next week at the open!
I always tell myself to keep your eyes on the ball or head down before a putt. Sometimes you take your eye off it because you want to see where the ball goes and that’s a big no-no
Mr Harrington. I would love you to come and play our course, Rockliffe Hall Golf and country club, to find out your honest thoughts. Just for me to watch how 6th navigate your way round.
Ever try watching the putter head on short putts instead of watching the ball? You can really keep a putter straight back and through very smoothly this way.
Would the aim at one point between club and ball help for driver do you think guys, my club face at address is open more often than not but if my final thought is something might just allo my body mechanics in the stroke become more replicable
Playing well under pressure, especially in putting, is an attitude thing. People don't like pressure, so they freak out. Being clutch is about making a decision: Do it or don't do it. To succeed under pressure, you must trust your game. Any doubts as to either ability or skill and you'll have a hard time. Practice, and ingraining the feeling of hitting putts of any length into the hole is paramount to developing trust, and understanding that when you're forced to play well, you must trust and believe in your training.
I have decided I will stop watching other golf tip videos - just as Paddy says, there is a variety of different swing tips and thoughts out there; and I've even watched successive vids where the advice conflicts. Each one works for the RU-vidr giving the advice but confusing as hell to me!!! So I'm simply going to stick with Mr Harrington from now on. And it will bring me peace. Happy days.
Almost every practice putt that I see amateurs make is wildly faster than the pace that they will actually need. If they did hit the ball at that pace, the ball would roll 30ft past the hole.
Don’t get me wrong…. I miss 5 footers sometimes(like everyone else). However, yesterday I made them all(2 for birdie on 17, and 18, and a few for par). I just stepped up and said “start it perfectly online, with touch”. This kept me from thinking about the club face, or stroke mechanics. Just perform the task at hand. Don’t worry about what it looks like.
Huge congrats on your first US Senior Open title! You thoroughly demonstrated all the topics you have taught in the final round yesterday -- putting under tremendous pressure, working the ball, reading the green, pre-shot routine, tee-shot strategy, and everything. Very well-earned title, amazing win. Congratulations!
Padraig, thank you so much for this video. I can see it's going to help me improve my putting already. My putting is reasonable but lately I'd be dogged by overthinking... "Get this one to the hole" "hit it firm" "give it a bit more", I can go on. Your instructions here have help me consolidate in my mind that I just need to go though the process and execute.
Putting is a major issue in my game. To the point where I dred anything within 5ft. Watching this gave me some great tips that I hope to take with me to work on.
Thanks for your help and advise, I played this afternoon after our course had been used as a PGA qualifier and could have done with incorporating this into my putting routine. Please keep them coming it’s very generous of you to share your experience.
We follow your winning the 2022 US Senior Open! I hope you finally got it, and provide us the great joy. We hope you give us your comments on what you feel during this Open. Best wishes for your winning the Cup! From Korea. KW
Great tip, I am losing strokes in my game with exactly this aspect of my game, when my putting is actually the best part of my game , so underrated how important this tip is , this is 3-4 strokes a round easy
Thanks Padraig for putting this lesson series. This is amazing which is not normally taught or talked about during lessons. Could you please do a video on 50-60 yard bunker shots!. Thanks.
I agree with your comment. He tells you things you almost never hear from instructors. These little jewels of knowledge are priceless to me. Good observation!
Hi Padraig, thanks for all you're doing. I would like to see a video on tips to keep the rist tension correct, especially at the top of the back swing, as you create lag etc. on the way down. Thank you in advance if select this!
The secret is RELEASE (or swing) the putter. Even Tiger was bragging no end about how his son was out there releasing on those big father/son pressure putts on TV. He must have mentioned that at least 4 times. And the kid made them all. In my opinion, this is the main reason that he will some day be a touring pro. The kid can putt.
I always wondered why pros never gave tips instead we get guys that were never any good teaching. well now we see the difference. This has to be the best instructional series as far as explaining the feel and the real in golf. Kudos to you Padraig. I've missed watching you on tour. Last time I seen you was at Oakland hills, MI. I would love to see and hear some on the course thoughts as far as managing your way around the course. Thanks again, this is awesome!
CONGRATULATIONS ON AN UNREAL VICTORY! Especially down the stretch with the pressure on! Was this video prophetic or what?! Love ya, bud! Love Ireland too….gotta get back soon! Can I look you up ? 😂😂
Congratulations Paddy on winning the 2022 U.S. Senior Open, excellent golf and ball striking, I guess this channel is working for you, please do some more vids as you're You Tube Gold. Thx
Great tips. Can you explain why when I pick my line and a spot to roll the ball over (on that line), When I address the putt that spot seems to be 2” left of the target (hole). I can remember you once spoke about left or right eye dominance.
Was 1 handicap in 2003 got the yips, couldn't get it into the hole from 3 feet, changed grip of putter and changed to a pencil grip, cured it for awhile then tried cack handed and it worked for awhile then the yips came back, started looking at the hole and it worked for awhile, then reverted between them all, I'm 6 handicap now and even though my gir us good I've trouble going low, I'll come back to this video a few times as I'll take on board about the 1 thought and the blade of grass between putter and ball 👍
Your tip on looking at the blade of grass to handle the pressure is one of the most relevant pieces of advice I have heard! I am a putting worrier, so much so that I haven't been able to take putter back at it;s worst! This tip changed everything. I am working on lines etc and making more putts but I am calm now, trusting the process. Thanks Paddy
