My grandmother use to boil the coconut milk until it has the Custard then she would put in the mackerel and seasonings. She always put curry powder to give it colour. You way is much easier. Thanks for you recipe. Love the hair do.
@deethomas8931 - That's how I do mine. I made some a few days ago 5/24. I cook out my tomatoes first, then the other seasonings, put in the milk and as you, make it custardy before putting in the cooked mackerel. I usually put one of the heads in with the milk and seasoning to get some salt, as I do not put any other salt in it. I like mine a little more oily. I am sure there are many ways to cook mackerel rundown.

I am in my 60s so I remember my folks cooking shad. It’s from the herring family. Prepared the same way except it has as softer flesh and has many more small bones. It was yummy.

I am looking at your channel miss for the second time and it's all good everyone cooks differently and enjoy their food and the way they prepare it...enjoy I know about dumplings, it's different, yam i ate b4,never ate cooked bananas but the ripen ones,i ate the fish from the can with onions peppers and other seasonings...no coconut milk..yours looks good but the head and bomes...very interesting enjoy But my question is why you keep saying run run or run town?...
Old time food or cooking i should say is very good i love it that what i always do your dish looks very delicious great job you do on that recipe also i love the duch pot wish i could get one the qulity like that one these here are low in qulity.
Every Sunday we use to grater the coconut fe make we rice and peas...the greater use to chip up and cut up we finger..me mother use to make run down...me never make it yet...but right now me cook me regular salted mackerel...me use vinegar in my salted mackerel and tin mackerel... .love mackerel salted and tin mackerel...me love simple and easy and nice ..
Miss Val i put in the coconut milk after i saute the seasoning let it simmer for awhile then the mackerel and cover the for 5 or so minutes but its the pack milk i use and it cremey and nice...is that a good way of doing it...tell me..you use the real coconut so it must be nicer how you do it....kudos to you..blessings..one❤. .. i love this dish..you ever do rundown with saltfish it still nice same way.
You almost cheated out of the enjoyment of watching you do that teast test huh!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 My mother too never made run down but for the few years my grandmother was around she did , my mother only did the mackerel and the food kinds too ...bwoy it was nice too.....

I would cook down the coconut milk first the coconut milk have to cook properly then add the seasoning and then the mackerel with a little vinegar..just my opinion..
