In my 30 years of golf, this is probably the best chipping advice I've seen. I took and applied this to the course yesterday and it worked to perfection 100% of the time.

A good setup trick is to reverse your hands and put your left below your right to set your shoulders. Then just put the hands properly keeping the shoulder angle.

A shallow angle of attack allows for better control over the distance and trajectory of your chip shots. It minimizes the risk of hitting the ball fat

I've watched a bunch of Mayo's work, and I haven't seen anything about open clubface. He wants the dynamic loft to be around 45 and 10 degrees downward AOA, totaling 55 degree spin loft.

I’m trying to get more clarity between Dan Gs approach and this one. I think this is similar to release one but not exactly the same. Stance, weight, finish are similar but the steepness is something Dan doesnt talk about

Opening the face just adds bounce & loft. Most players don't feel comfortable with an open face. You'd be better off getting a high loft, high bounce wedge for around the greens. IMHO.

Not to nit-pic but your feet aren’t one club head apart. Looks like just get set up comfortably with weight on front foot keeping feet less than shoulder length apart.

I mean hes gotten a lot better but Hovland has been known as a terrible short game player for almost his entire career no? I mean not that he's bad hes just such a good driver/iron player and has just an average short game.

Until last year when he started winning pga events, your info is a little behind because hovland has made a transformation into a solid short game player.
@jamiesloan7259

I think the point here is that he’s gotten dramatically better. The wins, and ranking shows that. He’s just pointing out the changes that were made to achieve it. Strike should never be an issue, with a good player. I sorta had the chipping yips myself last summer. It was a simple fix, once I pin-pointed the problem. I was taking the club back on too much of an arc(too low, and inside). I started taking it back more along the target line. The approach angle fixed itself, and I’m back to “strike” being a non-issue.

If I was playing someone the next day in a club championship the next day, I'd want to make sure they watched this video the night before. Getting steep on chip shots is arguably the worst advice I seen in 5 decades of playing competitive golf.

You're narrowing your chances of a good chip. Not a good video. Every other video tried to give the golfer a better chance to hit the ball correctly by keeping the club longer along the ground. This video is very professionals only.

A shallow angle of attack allows for better control over the distance and trajectory of your chip shots. It minimizes the risk of hitting the ball fat
@Guite06
@Guite06 8 дней назад
@@uluwatu77 shallow entry MAXIMIZES the risk of hitting it fat or thin, it just is more forgiving if you do so because the bounce can help you. Steeper angler of attack means there is less chance for grass to get in between the club face and ball so your contact will be more clean and therefore the ball will leave your face at the same speed, spin, and trajectory more consistently. The key is to not get closer to the earth after impact or you will dig. But yes if you are steep, you need to make sure the bottom of your swing is in the right place. Listen to the Jo Mayo episode on The Sweet Spot golf podcast. Very interesting stuff.
