Bio: Ruslan KD is a Christian RU-vidr of Armenian descent who was a refugee from Baku, Azerbaijan, before moving to the United States as a child. He started his RU-vid channel in the mid-2010s, which has since grown into a popular platform for discussing faith, lifestyle, and music. Known for his insightful commentary on Christian living, culture, and personal development, Ruslan has built a community of followers who value his thoughtful approach to contemporary issues. In addition to his RU-vid presence, Ruslan is a speaker, author, and advocate for godly ambition, often addressing topics related to leadership, mental health, and the integration of faith in everyday life.
Our mission is to encourage, empower, and inspire people to live a life that Blesses God, in accordance with His word. As the Psalmist proclaims, "Bless God in the great congregation, the Lord, O you who are of Israel's fountain" (Psalm 68:26 ESV), and "Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name forever and ever" (Psalm 145:2 KJV). Just as Simeon, after encountering Jesus, "took him up in his arms and blessed God" (Luke 2:28 ESV), we seek to lead others in a life of stewardship, relevant engagement, and practical living that honors and blesses the Lord.

The issue of homosexuality was merely a symptom of a much larger problem. In 2019 the proposed revisions to the 2020 Social principles was more of an overhaul. It literally mirrored the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The UMC abandoned Biblical values and adopted the UN's sliding scale of morality. The irony is, by aligning their values with that of the UN ,they aligned themselves with an organization who allowed six nations to sit on the Human Rights Council who had the death penalty for the crime of homosexuality! The UMC’s alignment with the UN put them at odds with the core principle they were willing to divide over! The truth is, the church has been infiltrated, and it’s not just happening in the UMC! This is happening globally and on many fronts. This is what Spiritual Warfare looks like!

Some of the Churches that wanted to leave, couldn't afford too... So there is still some amount left in the Church that disagree, but they are stuck. My understanding is that the conference also delayed getting the invitations to the African attendees, which prevented most of them from being able to attend... that is important b/c it is the African Churches that tend to be the most Conservative and would have voted against a change like this.

I was recruited to lead worship at a United Methodist Church many years ago. I live in Alabama and I attended a conservative church. My pastor told me that the denomination was arguing over this issue for over 40 years. I had to pick my jaw up off of the floor. I couldn't believe that the church allowed something like this to carry on for that long. Although that realization made me sick to my stomach, I couldn't deny that God had me there for a reason, so I stayed. At least the local church I was a part of did not support that sinful lifestyle. I would imagine if the Apostle Paul were alive and a part of that denomination, he would have settled the issue the moment it came up, and moved on. It was said to me, that the decision to split was only made possible because of our brothers and sisters that came to the conference from Africa. Had they not been there, we would have lost the vote. I eventually became a supply pastor for a small United Methodist Church, which was also conservative. I was trying to follow God's leading, which was why I was there, but the closer I came to becoming a licensed local pastor with that denomination, the less peace I had over it, so I ended up stepping down and joining another denomination.

I've been a member of UMC for almost 40 (since birth). Our church is a little country church that runs very conservative. While at the conference level, huge changes are made, we hope to remain how we've always been. The sad thing is, we paid off our mortgage ten years ago. Now, if we attempt to leave the conference, we have to pay over $200,000 to them for an already paid for building. Our church is a huge member of our community as we run a pantry that serves many families. This hurts my heart so much! Our church was denied the ability to leave....so, one Sunday the church was left with about 7-8 people, and the rest of us met in a local hall with about 140 people in attendance. The property would conservatively be estimated at close to four million dollars. It's quite easy to do the math. The church doors closed within a month and those of us who left are doing well. After well over a year we have finally found a permanent place to hold services. What was incredible to me (I am not Methodist), was that the people were predominately not bitter. The peace of God has been quite incredible.

As for the African churches, the UMC did little to help them get visas worked out in time. I also believe the UMC wanted to control the travel arrangements for the African delegates, thus making travel plans less than ideal. The Africans are under represented, because representation is predicated on money, not population. The regionalization concept also has the effect of keeping the African church from interfering with North American sexual "ethics". All this done to our black brothers and sisters, in the name of progressive ideology.

Ready to Harvest (the pinnacle for unbiased denominational research) had a very interesting nugget in his latest video about the Methodist split; the average population for churches staying in the UMC versus those who have already left WAS EXACTLY THE SAME. Progressivism, conservativism... it doesn't matter. The Methodist Church was headed down a road that this doctrinal split is only further exacerbating. Come 100 years, we may look at American Methodism as we see currently happening to the Church of Scotland - a denomination that may no longer exist.

Our local United Methodist Church in Oklahoma announced a vote to leave the denomination. The UMC sent higher ups to over see the vote. When it came down to the vote, the leave the denomination votes were more than the votes to stay. The overseers threw out enough votes on the leave side until the vote came out to the final being to stay. When asked "why?" by the youth pastor at the time the higher ups straight up said "why would we count the votes to leave?" It wasn't in their best interest for the church to leave. If the congregation left, the congregation would have retained the building and a long time ago a few million dollar donation was left to the church. The church mostly operates off the interest gained off of the few million every year. So the UMC also keeps that along with the property. Last I head there were 5 people attending the church. At one time in the 80s- 90s it was the highest attended church in town with hundreds of members. God did move through this however and the honestly it worked out way better. That youth pastor started a non denomination church that sees 100-120 people attend on average. More than that UMC church has seen in decades.

I used to work as a Conference Treasurer in the Dakotas. One of the big drivers of church closings is the cost of a pastor. The minimum salary of a pastor was right around $50k plus $15k for health insurance and $12k for pension. Often a pastor would be appointed to 2 or 3 churches so they could share in the cost of a pastor. In my own opinion, it seems churches there was a lot of pressure to view churches as salary-paying units instead of outposts for discipleship and evangelism.

Yall are laughing about UMC churches closing- it is not a joke! After Katrina numerous churches in Southeast Louisiana could not reopen either because of severe damage or population did not return. Then in 2016, an historic flood hit the region and 2 out of 4 churches near me closed, merged with larger churches. In the middle of all this, fewer people were becoming pastors. THAT became the biggest catalyst for ALL small churches to be forced to close and/or merge with a larger church. When you joked about the pastor living in the parsonage and whatever else was in that same thought process, obviously you do not know how UMC distributes clergy. Individual churches do NOT choose their pastors. They are assigned by the bishop in their jurisdiction- with input by committee. But the local church itself DOES NOT have any say. Most pastors are reassigned every 2-3 years. It has been a long standing belief that if pastors stayed too long the people of the church would become more devoted to the pastor and not Christ. My family had been going to our church since my Daughter was 10 months old and she is now 41. We were told in June 2021 we had to merge because the Conference did not have enough pastors. We had always paid our apportionment yearly and had 10’s of thousands in the bank. Our building was not falling apart and we also had a parsonage in a very good neighborhood. BUT, something was obvious to all of us. Pastors were being sent to us that had issues at other churches, or that definitely did not “fit” our demographic or style of worship. Each time, we lost members because of the decisive personalities, beliefs, lack of spiritual guidance, etc. I personally was one of those who left in 2016 when it became obvious this person was sent to destroy our church. Approximately 1/5-1/4 left. The core of the faithful kept the church going- knowing that in UMC, pastors come and go and this pastor was no exception. When he left, I returned and transferred my membership back, only to find out just 2 months later it would be closing. There were a lot of specific details but the biggest issue that broke all our hearts is that the BISHOP AND CONFERENCE never considered giving us a chance of building back our congregation after enduring that HORRIBLE pastor. So why were they determined to shut us down? For 50 years a prominent car dealership next door had rented part of our parking lot for their employees. Through the years they made offers to buy ALL our property so they could expand. And through the years, we would consider selling and moving to another location. But our small church was the perfect size for the middle of a large suburb- smack dab in between the 2 largest UMC’s. We ourselves traveled an hour every Sunday to attend this small church- passing at least 12 other UMCs that were closer. So why were they determined to shut us down- the value of our property was worth millions and if we closed and merged, ALL of our assets went to the district. Millions!!. So we were given a deadline and a “funeral “ was planned for 6 months later. The money in the bank would be lost, so we donated to everything and everyone we could to drain the account. Other churches were allowed to come take whatever they wanted before members could request stuff. People were coming to claim pews- but my son personally took pews to be “adopted “ by good homes. I am not going to go into details about my behavior, but after one of our members told us how HER former church was forced to close, and that the powers that be reassured them EVERYTHING would be donated to other churches or faith based organizations/ charities, members were horrified when they passed by and found mounds of stuff thrown out to be picked up as garbage!! This included BIBLES!!! I ended up renting a U-Haul truck and bringing it to my house. People accuse me of being a hoarder, but everything found a place or replaced something that I passed on. We are very happy in the church we merged with. Our 2 alter chairs, alter table, baptismal font, piano, CROSS & FLAME were all adopted my this church. One of our pews now sits in the Narthex /foyer so every Sunday, I can stop for a moment and say a prayer. And hanging above it for all to see is a banner I made in 1992 for a huge gathering of UMCs in a neighboring city. This banner had been criticized by those pastors that didn’t “fit in” all those years ago. One actually removed it and locked it away , yelling at the person who demanded it be returned-- “You all are PROUD to be a little church!”. To which the gentleman responded, “Yes we are.” What does the banner say? “The Small Church with a Big Heart”.

I'm a pastor of a UM church. Having watched the last few years unfold, the worst part of this has not been disagreement over doctrinal things. The worst part is how people who claim to be Christians have talked about and to one another in the same smug, insulting, self-righteous ways that Democrats and Republicans talk about and to one another on Twitter. The UMC has not split along the lines of how to treat LGBTQ persons, but on whether you watch FOX or CNN. This all started not when we came to believe whatever we believe about LGBTQ persons, but when we started putting faith in elected officials and the Supreme Court to pass laws to force people to act the way we think Christians should act rather than inspiring them to do so by loving the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and by loving our neighbor as ourselves. We thought we could influence our political system, but we sold our soul to them instead.

Then we could disaffiliate, but don’t jump the gun. This was preached to us by our pastor and DS . Now after morning service on May 5 we had a meeting immediately after and voted by 100% to disaffiliate and our pastor and DS said that it was up to the trustees of annual conference to decide. We are out of luck I’m afraid. Time will tell

Disafiliation agreements were not uniform across the annual conferences. Northeast jurisdiction was facing almost impossible cost to get out. Baltimore Washington alone was 50% appraised real estate value. Easter PA and Susquehanna were 100%. On top of these were advanced payment for shares of ministry and unfunded pension liability for two years. Many churches did not leave but most congregations faced tremendous loss in the Northeast.

There is no room in salvation for disobedience. There's no justification for sin in God's Word. Sexual sin is among the most offensive to God according to the Bible, heterosexual or otherwise. Homosexuality is described in Scripture as an abomination. No matter the temptations, acting on them is disobedience of God. If you want to be saved by God, repent and trust in Jesus completely.

Or non-denominational. Maybe the problem is because you rely on some high, far away government which fails to represent not only you, but Christ Himself. If methodists had local government and not some shadowy Kabal running the show, almost every church would stick around with more conservative biblical teachings. And we see clearly the Catholics facing the same attacks, and not fairing too well, just barely avoiding the Pope blessing gay marriages. At least the Orthodox Churches are more localized, so if, say, the coptics fell to progressivism, the Armenians and orientals might stay firm. Meanwhile, if the Pope capitulates, shaul either needs to become protestant or you need to bend the knee to the "vicar of Christ". No Sir, the answer is not MORE detached and debased government, the answer is more autonomy, which separates the yeast from the dough when it arrises. Even a little bit of yeast makes the dough rise, your only option is to separate from it.

When the (relatively more) traditional side still had the slim majority they should have just voted to kick out the largest most liberal conference for breaking their bylaws and for manifest blasphemy. From there they could do the painstaking effort of removing and either disciplining or excommunicating (mostly excommunicating) as necessary until the clergy at all levels is actually worthy of being called clergy. If churches tried to leave, don't allow them to keep church property. Take the inevitable lawsuits. Take the short term hit to attendance as the self worshiping stop attending. Even be comfortable closing churches which are already dead in their sin. Remove those false churches who use your name to lead people astray. Cutting off the rotting branches to spare the living, and make way for new growth is the proper course of action. Strength and confidence in faith.

To say the the UMC is a dying denomination is not accurate. It is shrinking in the number of churches and members, and will likely stabilize as a smaller denomination. However, mainline denominations influence does not come from raw numbers, but from institutions and people in positions of power. Look at the example of the Episcopal Church, it has been decreasing as a percentage of the population since the founding of the country, and yet controls a large number of institutions (schools, hospitals, social service organizations, etc.) and has been traditionally overrepresented among elected officials.

This is somewhat overstated. None of these people care what the episcopalian church has to say, it's a marketing ploy. It's not like back in the day where if your priest said "x", you as a politician were bound to "x", nowadays even Biden and pelosi, who claim Catholicism, have been denied communion. Tucker Carlson is another great example, he's called himself episcopalian/anglican(he's from new England) and admits, to him, it's perhaps the shallowest of all traditions. I.e. even he, a conservative, rich, intelligent and influential man, does not take the episcopalians seriously. Meanwhile, do you think Ted Cruz is unaffected by his Baptist beliefs? Of COURSE he's effected by his Baptist beliefs! Heck, I can barely tell you what an "Anglican agenda" would look like, but Baptists and non-denoms? Yeah, they've got a pretty clear through line, and while varied, members of those congregations tend to be more swayed by their churches than episcopalians, and even Catholics.

@@CornCod1 Of course there are, and there are many saved from bad denominations too. The point isn't that all denominations are bad, the point is that this sectarianism isn't a good thing. Folks like redeemed zoomer like to pretend that denominations help us "unite", but clearly that's incorrect, considering the denominational splits we constantly witness. Meanwhile this tendency to split is avoided entirely by non-denominationalism. We understand that plenty of churches have disagreements on secondary and tertiary doctrinal issues, yet we also accept that many of these are still our brothers. You'll rarely see a presbyterian worshipping next to an Anglican in either churches, but I consistently witness brotherhood between these two groups amongst non-denom churches. Yes, there are plenty of great denominations out there, but if we wish to be a united front, it starts with dropping the labels of "Methodist" or "episcopalian", instead only holding to the label "Christian". Examine your fealty and loyalty to your denomination, and ask yourself why you hold such loyalty? Is it because of your family or cultural ties, is it because you don't have to test any preachers, assuming they'll preach what you already believe, or is that desire truly from God Himself? It will be a long time before many denominations "die out" in the US, likely not in our lifetime, but when they do, and the only label left to hold is "Christian", then our front shall truly be United against the principalities and powers of this world. I was told that the South Carolina district added a 10% that was not required by the conference. If true, that also sounds like theft. Bottom line, I would have left if my Church had not. The liberal churches didn't leave after 2019 because they controlled the agencies in the administrative structure and the seminaries. They wanted to hang on to the system they had built. The traditionalists placed less value on what they saw as an expensive liberal structure with misguided priorities. Some of the traditionalists grabbed their Bibles, paid what they had to pay to retain the property that they had invested in for decades, and they left. Our congregation did that and has since joined the Global Methodist Church. Over 7% of our budget that used to support the massive church organizational culture is now being poured into an expanded set of community outreach ministries. Our congregation has grown, mostly from people leaving churches that remained in the UMC. Now it is time to look outward and lead people to Christ.
