Well, there were also the rumors that Daeron II wasn't really Aegon's son. That probably played a bigger role in sparking the war than a crap king giving his bastard son a sword did. Though the sword did give a lot of lords and knights a convenient out. Also, corruption does breed opportunity, just look at the last few years of Henry VIII's reign. Which is my lazy way of saying it's not as unbelievable an idea as you might think that people would line up behind Daemon for their own selfish reason while using the whole Aegon gave him the sword thing as an excuse.

I think that epithet 'The Unworthy' was given after he died, just because of what you described. But I agree

i always found it weird how one of the worst kings in the whole history of the realm did a thing like recognizing all of his bastards, like yeah Aegon the IV, shitty king but kind of a good dad?

For what i understand, he recognized them just to spite Daeron because he wasn't an irresponsible scumbag like his dad. Which is kind of funny because said act also gave Daeron his biggest supporter in dealing with the Blackfyres, Bloodraven.

@@ChestofGold It could, it could easily be a couple of movies if they wanted to make them. But I feel like a series would be better because it would make it easier to jump around time wise. Kind of like House of the Dragon will do.

Would be insane to start at Baelor and then skip Aegon III Dragonbane who dealt with the aftermath of the dance and the death of the last dragons. Also can’t forget his son and Baelor’s brother Daeron I the Young Dragon who conquered Dorne without dragons. After Fire & Blood pt 2 comes out they could easily do the series Medici Masters of Florence style.

@@aegonii8471 They can start further back if they want to, I was just thinking it would be tidier to start from the end of Baleor's reign, which saw the birth of Daemon Waters, and then go forward into Viserys II's and Aegon IV's rules before ending in Daeron II's rule with the first Blackfyre Rebellion. However, the further back they start the easier it'll be to understand the story as a whole. So, starting around the time Viserys II came back to Westros and going forward from there would be a good idea too.

His chapter should be fun read in the next volume of Fire & Blood

Larra Rogare was actually "only" seven years his senior. Maegor I was 13 years old when he got married to a 23 year old Ceryse Hightower.

And Viserys I was 12 years older than the 17yo Alicent.

There's actually not much to it, besides what you know from reading the main books or even watching the show. The comparison is largely superficial and based on what you already know about Aegon I: a Targaryen with 3 dragons (at a time when they were the only ones in the world), his personal dragon being black, who sought to conquer Westeros and establish himself as king. That's about it.
