Dr Thum historical lessons of events is educational at best. People sadly have lost the rights to critic government policies and to expose wrongdoings by government. In China, social media play a big part to get the government officials to behave righteously and to toe the line on excesses and abuse of power. A BIG serious problem of political infancy of Singaporeans is no one seem to read and understand their constitutional right ( or is there one in existence, lol ) and know how to exercise their civil liberties as citizen. Dr Thum may be the best lecturer to enlighten the people of their constitutional rights as well as to interpret certain important legislations enacted from time to time to simplify lots of vague clauses for easy understanding. Only when people realise what their rights are only then the fear factor of an unknown can be demolish and the society can be a fairer living environment instead of the current ignorance and fear of reprisal by excess laws enacted by a Mr Gummy Bear which is tightening the noose around Singaporeans creating an unenviable and global ridicule of police state.

At the 13:00 mark the host makes an important point about framing. Framing is so powerful. The opposition is framed as not caring about the country and its people whereas the PAP is framed as the one doing everything it can in its power to improve things further.

Climate is always changing as long as the birth of Mother Earth. The question should be, what is the degree of impact by these man-made operations? If the impact is high and substantial, what alternatives can we do to progress from the current situation towards a direction which will turn the numbers around?

Reason given for using the GRC was to ensure minority representation in Parliament But how often have the MPs,esp those PAP MPs raised issues affecting the minority communities? Another trick to stay in power...for the GRC allows a candidate rejected by the voters to get into Parliament when the votes are pooled together under that single GRC... Like it or not,those who wished and have voted for the opposition candidate had to accept the outcome... Undemocratic PAP... Undemocratic Singapore
