This is how the PAP ministers in Singapore would very narrowly and superficially answers questions if cornered. No riots? When the public felt that the Minister of Manpower of Singapore should take the responsibility of her failure to contain the spread of coronavirus among the foreign workers at the dormitory and that she should apologise, she said no foreign workers asked for an apology. Therefore, in future if a minister provides a stupid answer to a smart question, then it means they accept the failure.

Why is criticism of PAP leadership and government ILLEGAL and CRIMINAL ? This demonstrate lack of maturity and wisdom of the leadership to handle critic and dissent. Old man Lee have lead the way to sue for "false speech" as a benchmark to challenge falsehood. So why is POFMA relevant. Humans as the people of Singapore cannot be suppressed like a slave and it's not healthy to allow people to ventilate in social media either as form of pressure valve to release ONLY frustration not intended to instigate adverse revolt and it's unwise fir government to listen to underlying dissent against policies or complaints against abuse of power by certain officials. PAP must lead with a magnanimous and political maturity in democracy respecting the rights of the people. The old authoritarian method of governance is not sustainable and relevant in this digital age of technology.

For the 5 statements that did not get POFMA-ed, I thought that they actually sounded more like opinions/interpretations and hence were (rightfully) not POFMA-ed.

Actually, because of the fear that I am having living in Singapore in getting my books suppressed or banned (I am an author), I feel that it is best to simply migrate elsewhere so that I don't be the next victim like those people in the 1987 and the early one, Coldstore. Because seriously, I do want to write without restrictions. I am actually working on a historical fiction revolving around Coldstore and the 1987 conspiracy but I don't know if it is publishable or it would be like another Animal Farm.

It is quite unfortunate that the laws of the land are enacted to use against our own citizens in a frivolous manner. Elected MPs & ministers are given mandate to serve country & its people w/integrity, forethought, pride, accountability, & care. How does using POFMA to gab a fellow citizen doing what is deemed his duty /call to educate & inform be a threat to a legitimate govt or officials? Are we, the people, not entitled or permitted to listen to what others think or have to say about what is or has developed in our society, to come to our own conclusion as to the reality presented or not? So that we can hold those in govt accountable after all it is our votes that give them the mandate to high office? Or affirm & commend them when we understand that they have done good indeed? Was there instigation to arms, subversion, or revolt? Criticism of & truth telling to those in govt are necessary to keep them on the right track for the sake of country & people's wellbeing. Is govt perfect, can do no wrong, cannot go astray, cannot go rogue, or judge their own actions honestly all the time? Seriously, this move using POFMA against Thum may just backfire in a bigger way than allowing healthy political discussions, opinions, & criticisms. Whoever is in govt needs the people behind them. Such a move would alienate even more the increasingly disenfranchised, unhappy citizenry affected by bad policies, ever higher costs of living, and good jobs getting scarcer... What a let down

I like the videos you make. Very informational! Only 1 comment/suggestion. Avoid using the hand gesture of "Quote and unquote" too much each time you mention "Fake News". Distracting, looks like Donald Trump and after awhile, the effect is lost. As you talk use the term "Fake News" quite often in all your episodes, the "Quote & Unquote" hand gesture becomes distracting (I started counting the number of times you did it) and "looking forward" to your next "Quote & Unquote" hand gesture. Other that, really good stuff! Keep it up!

Perhaps what wasn't POFMAed was interpreted as a false OPINION (not FACT) and as such couldn't be POFMAed? So your conclusion, that omitting those conclusions in the POFMA further validates them, seems to be contingent on the government's interpretation of your conclusions; whether it was false opinions or true facts. The governments interpretation of the line between fact and opinion seems to be the bigger problem here

Hmmm... I agree that POFMA is a poorly-worded law that is so messy that even Judges cannot agree on it. For this reason, it is also pliable to more severe abuses by the government. That being said, the points raised from 16:24 min to 18:50 min are opinions. This is why the government could not POFMA these points. It doesn't mean that the points are factual and legitimate. ----------------------------------------- "Problematic ways which goalposts are shifted... " - opinion "It should be administered by an independent watchdog, not politicians." - opinion "... makes it seemed like they are more concerned about what Singapore critics are saying ..." - opinion "... this isn't protecting democracy- it's promoting passive reliance on authority..." - opinion "...quibble over relatively minor issues." - opinion "... who would even dare to speak up to PAP or the government?" - opinion ----------------------------------------- Personally, I don't like POFMA. I also agree with some of the opinions above, especially the part about how POFMA promotes passive reliance on authority rather than empowering citizens to think and interpret facts for themselves. However, I think we need to be fair and balanced in our conclusions, and we shouldn't present our opinions as facts to endow it with an aura of legitimacy.
