It hits harder than it must... We have a "Larry" in our lives and we don't realize until it's too late. Somebody in the background, ignored, without any chance to be a protagonist, no even in their lives. Nobody asked if that person was fine, if that person needs something, nothing. Not all people can take something in life. Sometimes people need someone who ask for that at least one time to encourage them.
Moe's voice actor, Hank Azaria, is actually one of the youngest regular voice actors at 60, only older than Yeardley Smith. Harry Shearer, the voice of Burns, Smithers, Flanders, Skinner, and others, is by far the oldest at 80.
Probably them actively disrespecting a characters death in all ways. Not sure what they were expecting for us to laugh? The new simpspns is a trash heap stick to the old ones.
Apparently the original voice actor was Phil Hartman (i.e. Troy McClure), this had to have been WAY BACK in the earliest seasons. They surely kept Larry in the background and it seems they've decided to kill him off 25 years after Hartman died.
@@FinallyImIn1it was actually Harry Shearer that voiced Larry. He does Skinner, Mr. Burns, Reverend Lovejoy, Flanders, and various others including Larry.
@@scarypineapple8608 It's almost as if there's a connection between the passing of their friend and the passing of another friend in the video. Just a thought.
The reason this hits for me, some of us here will end up like Larry. Not most of us thankfully. But some will. We're young now. But some of us, or the people we know now will end up as Larry. The guy who was just, "around". No real friends. Barely noticed. Mourned by almost no-one. That's just how it is.
That joke about Homer not spending time with the kids is really getting old. It like every other episode is about Homer spending time with kids. Also Lisa just acknowledge that she not eight years old.
I feel kinda sad they treated his death as a forgettable occurrence, Krusty's father's death was taken much more seriously even though nobody really cared about him and his death wasn't even that impactful but rather just happened, but here with Larry who was beloved by many fans they just didn't care
It literally was a forgettable occurrence. Anyone who’s claiming to be actually remotely bothered by his death is lying and never noticed him until this episode
I haven't watched a Simpson episode for over a decade now but I am surprised that they killed off one of the background characters. Larry (I didn't even know his name) was often in Moe's bar with the main gang there (Moe, Homer, Barney, Lenny and Carl) along with another background character with the hat.
Lisa's a rare phenomenon in cartoon characters where every time she's about to say something or the camera pans in on her, I instinctively blurt out "Shut up".
the "lisa" effect every time a specific animated character is onscreen, the viewer will shout "oh my god shut up" without being aware that they are saying it, when questioned about this behaviour, they will only reply "i just cant stand her" and elaborate for 4 hours on how lisa is the worst and most annoying character.
I think makes sense Lisa was comforted by the passes considering where he didn’t say pass he was way off. I always thought Larry was an unnamed character before this episode. If they just decided to name him when they decided to off him that wouldn’t surprise me.
If I had a nickle each time someone in The Simpsons died innoticeably into an awkward still pose, I'd have three nickles, which ain't a lot, but it's weird that it happened thrice.
0:54 - 1:12 Moe: Get the hell outta here, all of you! BAR'S CLOSED!!! (Chases Homer, Lenny and Carl away with a mop before noticing a depressed Larry) Homer: Alright, we're leaving! Moe: You too, Slumbo! (Jabs him in the face with a mop, but suddenly there's no response) Slumbo? (Homer, Carl and Lenny turned around and see what's happening, as Moe turns the mop upside down and pokes Larry in the head and right eye) Carl: (Worried) I don't like the sound of that squish. (Moe pokes him in the eye again, and still nothing) Homer: (Realizes) Guys, I think Larry's... (Larry drops dead) Moe: ! Lenny: ! Carl: ! Homer:..dead!
With Edna it just seemed... weird. I get the actress died but the character dying as well was simply off in a world that seems perpetually stuck in the 90's. The sheer time warp around Springfield makes any death a Lovecraftian anomoly, but this somehow... I dunno. I feel like in a strange way Larry actually escaped Springfield. The Simpsons is a show that SHOULD be dead but isn't, so when the characters themselves die it seems bizarre. Real death seems like an intruder.
@@bernardschmitt6389 When I think Family Guy, I think dirty Cultural Jokes, unfiltered Swears, & a touch of Racism. Mayor Adam West? The Illegal Maid? Or am I wrong again?
@@bernardschmitt6389 Well, there is a Big Swear in relation to a License Plate Quagmire has. It is subtle p. You're not going to find it unless You're paying close attention to the Episode. He misspelled the word Country. Now, to be fair, The Simpson's is at fault for the same fil5hy Joke. Miss Cantwell. Honestly, where are the censors these days?
1:13 Mourning Glory Funeral Home. Here in Saskatoon Canada we have a funeral home called Mourning Glory Funeral Services. Like that George Michael slogan. “We’ll Wake You Up Before You Go-Go”
Doesn't really make feel anything because I have considered Simpsons to be dead series for year. Feels they just reanimated the Simpsons series for last decade or so
Does Julie Kavner not seem as strained in this performance to anyone else? It still wasn't perfect but it felt like I could hear bits of her old voice slipping in
Nah Chef had a huge impact from the first six seasons of South Park Larry had absolutely nothing going for him since he first appeared. plus Larry's death was absolutely nowhere near as brutal as what chef's was.
