The way LKY puts things are just too simplistic. He put forward an assumption that any person should aspire to become like him or like the best model of the most capable person in the world where nothing is impossible. So everything should have the best solution whether the environment or policy is against you or not. But the fact of the world and life is everyone is different and everyone has different abilities otherwise there wouldn't be an Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos among us. The role of the government therefore is to either level the playing field to allow everyone to at least have a fair opportunity to move up or provide with a basic yet reasonable safety net for hardworking people just contend with a simple life. Unfortunately this has not been the case and the PAP government has double downed on the issues highlighted in this forum mostly through their self imposed measures.

When singaporeans start complaining, it is a sure sign that everyone's salary has gone up. Ironic that the Asian Currency Crisis hit in 1997 and then 9/11, and then religious extremism, and then SARS in 2003. Property prices went down 30%+ and stayed low till 2008. (I wonder how many of the grumblers in this video were prepared to buy a nice condo then?) Curious that educated, average singaporeans do not understand that price inflation is ALWAYS caused by too much liquidity cash, easy loans and fomo. Same issues being grumbled about in 2022 and 2023. Same blame being levelled at govt and foreigners. Singaporeans never reflect it is their own fault.
