The Sinking City is an adventure and investigation game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, the master of horror.
Step in the shoes of a 1920s investigator, a tortured truth seeker sucked into an adventure that goes beyond his personal goals and beliefs.
Trapped in a flooded city, you explore an urban open world, infiltrate its secretive society and investigate cases putting your common sense to the test with the goal of saving what can be, and most importantly, yourself.

I'm glad you are playing this. I started watching another RU-vidr but had to stop after 10 minutes because they wouldn't stop and read the text.. in a mystery game. Why some treat these things as FPS I don't know? I guess they like hammering out videos and being first but lack the depth. Still, you have better gameplay style and are more suited to this genre!

Well, tickle my gill slits, this is fun. The game's dripping with HPL references, of course, but it seems to be pushing the mythos in a modern direction. Prejudice is still rife, but in Oakmont it's between groups who would have been considered the monsters in Lovecraft's stories. Interesting twist. Looking forward to continuing the adventure.

That makes sense Lovecraftian-wise, since that is Cthylla. She is the daughter of Cthulhu and is said to be viewable without going insane, unlike Cthulhu where a mere second of him causes everyone nearby to go coo coo.

Man, this has every single investigative mechanic imaginable piled up, huh? Deduction board, scene reconstruction, supernatural tracking abilities... I wonder if they give you less on higher difficulties. I also wonder if you'll have to investigate things (like say corpses) in detail and all that.

I enjoyed watching your previous Lovecraftian inspired game playthroughs and look forward to seeing more of this one. The dog tag's reference to Edgar Alan Poe's "A Dream Within A Dream" was a nice touch. Interesting game thus far.

Interesting how the boat the player character arrives with is called the Charon, after the Ferryman of the Underworld ferrying the souls of the dead across the Acheron (or the Styx in Roman accounts) and into the Underworld proper.

This game is quite elaborate it seems so many custom names for stuff. So much to do and looks like it has the butterfly effect mechanic going on like Detroit. This might take a long time to get all the endings and secrets.

Glad to see another H. P. Lovecraft-inspired game! I enjoyed watching your playthrough of "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth," and I am glad to see that you've also played "The Sinking City" - which seems like a good game. I like the retrocognition ability and what it brings to the game; the characters; the voice acting; the city; the interior of the buildings that one can visit in this game; the graphics (especially in the cut scenes), and how the game looks. You name it! I have watched the playthrough of this game on John Wolfe's channel, but it's some time ago - so I am revisiting an old favorite. I enjoy both your and John Wolfe's commentary and channel content, as both are particularly good RU-vid channels, IMHO.

Oh Kay, I'm already in love with this game! The Innsmouthers are looking amazing, the environment is so charming rotten and the whole atmosphere is simply wonderful. Would be a great holiday destination. :D 1:03 I like the homage to Robert W. Chambers' The King in Yellow (Chambers influenced Lovecraft's writings a lot). Two letters sounded really interesting to me: Terrible Fetus and Voices from the pipes. Thanks for this very cool first part and I'm really looking forward to the next one :)

Just finished Chris' Amnesia: Rebirth walkthrough. Bloody awesome and the vistas are simply mind-boggling. So here I am at The Sinking City which Chris has divided into 16 EPISODES! :O Can't wait - this has GOT to be good. Later - Not bad. Great gritty scenery, a surprising-looking narcissist - don't know if he's a bad guy at this point. Love the hero and am a fan of the tiny things, the tiny twitches, moves, gestures, and body movements that create a real 3-dimensional character, and I'm not talking just the artwork. Now I wonder - how do you suppose the characters feel when they are being jerked around while we figure out how to move them this way and that, screw up left and right, squat instead of jump, and kill them a bazillion times? I'd like to see a few interviews, get their thoughts, ya know?

Throgmorton's, ah, 'elevated bloodline' are a reference to Lovecraft's "Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family", about a man who discovers that his great great great grandfather interbred with a mysterious white-furred sapient ape in a lost city in the Congo. Needless to say, one of Lovecraft's more, uh, dubious writings.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen “Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family” referenced… maybe ever! Personal theory is the “princess” in question was from an alternate branch of Homo Erectus that survived by going into seclusion.

It wasn't. Vampyr was the team behind Life is Strange. Sinking City is by the guys who make the Sherlock games. Hence all the crime solving, sleuthing, and case cracking. That assessment puts you less as a Poirot, Sherlock, Kojak, or Columbo, and more as a Poochinski.

The deductions, have multi paths, based on what you think is how the story is going to shape up. It sucks this game doesn't allow you to confirm before you move to the next screen. You can inadvertently accuses innocent man.
