This whole album needs its own movie.

Thom & Jonny's music just scratches a specific itch for me that I can't get from anyone else. Fucking love this new album

I've heard about a million songs. But I don't recall ever hearing this chord progression before. It's beautiful. Surreal. It hovers on the edge of beautiful grace and sinister violence in the most peculiar way.

When you’re young, you think everyone’s just like you. When you get a little older, you realize everyone has different experiences and lives than you. At some point, you get old enough to finally understand despite everything, we are all the same.

i was genuinely shook when the album started with this, it's one of the most hauntingly atmospheric songs I've heard in a long time, the building synth, guitar, piano, layering is crazy, along with that weird vocal effect and the beautifully regretful lyrics to top it off

Okay, it has now been over a year since A Light For Attracting Attention was released... this song, this fucking opening song for the album, remains, in my opinion, the single greatest piece of new music to be launched into this world in over a decade.. at least. Easily. (IMO!) It's still as mesmerizing to me as it was when I first listened to it. Still has a deep hold on my soul. Still leaves me floored and enchanted,.. after EVERY SINGLE LISTEN. Truly one of a kind. I feel so lucky to be alive during a time that this song exists, and can only hope that if there is a heaven, there is access to headphones and music like this. This is the first song on a great album. Some albums you listen to so many times, they become the soundtrack of your lives. This is one of them for me. Others include George Harrison, All Things Must Pass, Bob Dylan, Blood On The Tracks, Elton John Goodbye YellowBrick Road, Springsteen Born to Run, OK Computer and In Rainbows...and so many more.

The force of that synth that comes in at 3:19 is intense. It feels like it blows the walls off of the sounds surrounding it.

Every now and again, Thom touches something that holds my attention for MONTHS at a time. This is the latest.

They are all geniuses, including Nigel. The production on this track is immense. 🔥 9 Days til i get to see them live.....beyond excited!

Menacing and yet still enlivening and uplifting; relentless and ominous, but still gentle and reassuring. Unique and otherworldly. Simultaneously shrouded in darkness, and yet beaming with intense shining light. This song is everything.

This collection of songs by the smile is mesmerizing and beautiful. My ear immediately accepted these sounds.

whether it's Radiohead, just Thom Yorke or now The Smile you know it's gonna be a masterpiece 🤯🦝

I can’t stop listening to this. I love the message that we are all the same. I don’t feel so much an outsider. It sounds like a dream. I love Thom Yorke’s voice and music. I’ve had this song in my head, on loop, for days. Music affects me in that I’ll feel like crying, I get the shakes, and hear it in dreams. I love and hate how music affects me.

My personal favorite. I like how the lyrics express some hope while the tension-building music ultimately expresses hopelessness. Great contrast. Thanks for the video.

Brilliant song with a building tension. These lyrics are so relevant now. This album is beyond great and this opening track sets the stage for the rest of the album. Looking forward to the vinyl and seeing The Smile live.

This song feels like a benevolent interdimensional being is praying sonically to humankind. As if when we’re tuned to the right emotional frequency it’s powers can fully penetrate and heal all.

Absolutely peerless.....no one comes even close to this kind of work..or brilliance and its only 33 percent of radiohead ...

This is the best song on the record, shockingly as there are so many other strong ones.

This has less views than the smoke but it's far more emotional imo.❤

Innovation sound for the future, another masterpiece like no other in the músic industry

Other people not just Thom need the recognition for this song wish people didn't just praise Thom he would be nothing without the others

It's fun getting to hear the song in two different ways depending on which downbeat you choose. For the first three listens, I had no idea that I was supposed to be following the bass drum! Even when you're on the right beat, Thom's vocals make you want to realign with the synth on one. Brilliantly done.

Thom actually is really a superhero, not a human!

Since the day this album came out this has been my absolute favourite track out of them all. The slow, unnerving build up with the intense climax then finishing with the aftermath of it all. Fking superb. I can’t help but imagine my own little montage to this track. Please never stop making the most unsettling music

Lucky enough to see them last night. The huge crowd at the Anthem in DC was absolutely transfixed the entire time. I think this The Same may be my favorite, but as always, they're all so good, it's hard to pick.

After seeing them live in Amsterdam a few weeks ago I declare myself a complete radiohead with the smile of a fake plastic tree who wishes to learn how to dissapear completely....as if I could fade away....

It's music-but it's a different kind of sound than considered music from our past. It's unconsidered music, sound we never thought to name, and now it's emerged and we have to call it music; I prefer not to call it music but sound one had not considered before its hearing.

Love this one, a great start in an album full of highlights Thank you for everything, was worth a smile
