Little Carmine is my hero from the Sopranos. Living the dream with a family who loves him-without a care in the world. Tony Soprano and perhaps Mr Gandolfini (RIP) could have taken lessons from the book of wisdom of getting out of the game and enjoying what is most important-family, health (ahi green salad with tuna), exercise, and minimal stress ( a swim in the pool naked each night before bed). Salud, Little Carmine aka Brainless the 2nd (the genius of the series)!👍🏼
Tony thinks Little Carmine will be as effective as his father, but until he is, it's going to be hard to verify that he thinks he'll be more effective.
And that's how he avoids incriminating himself and prevents people from exploiting him with wordplay. Little Carmine is very diplomatically skilled, that's why he won and is so succesful and happy by the end. Sometimes politics requires being underestimated and everyone underestimated little Carmen. Albert Barese does something similar when he always repeats what other people say, it gives them nothing to use against him, because all he did was repeat what they said. No openings for weakness for predators like Tony to take advantage of. Here Tony even tried to convince him that his dream of the empty box meant he should go fill the box up, instead of realizing what Carmine meant when his dream showed him that the box will always be empty, even if it takes 200 years to fill up, it won't be enough. Large wordplay leaves your enemies confused and having to deal with all you said before they can get to your main points, that's why Tony had nothing left to do and quit trying to convince Carmine to be boss and left.
I disagree with you I think that speech somed up his choices very well, why all the responsibility and hard decisions you need to make as a don while you can enjoy the wealth you already have and sit in the sun, sure no power and a big income from the organised crime but then to be away from all that evil, seems nice.
HBO- “I’ll tell you something else. In large measure I blame you for this shit with Borko.” RU-vid- “The fuck did I do?!” HBO- “You legitimized him. A company of your stature goes to Serbia, to see that schmuck.”
Anyway I give him his present, this malifluos shinebox, ribbons…He opens it up, there is a tossable cellphone ringing, like the Taliban used to use. He gives it back to me and say: "Answer dat fvcking ting!"
Let me tell you a couple of tree things about Little Carmine. 1. You’re brother Billy whatever happened there 2. Uncle Philly 3. Well offer you some drills
Without question he had the best run on the show. Keeping to his subspecies of entertainment, living in the sunshine far removed from the shit, eats healthy, loves his wife, spends time with his friends. Everyone else is some kinda toxshick poyson
@@darthck5066 I think he retired to be honest, and let the old guys battle it out. The respect his father carried was probably enough for people to honor the decision.
@@BruceMichaelFilms probably just kept the same position he had before carmine sr. passed, still in the family but insulated from the drama and goings on. And yeah, not having eroded his own status or respect for his fawtha.
@@darthck5066and now he's incredibly rich and can keep that wealth for generations because it's not reliant on crime. He's basically self sufficient now which is an amazing thing to achieve. He's in a way better position than everyone who stayed in crime. Probably hasn't even done his first hit yet either. Little Carmine definitely won
Mr. Magoo always gave good advice to Fat Tony, but I still feel bad for Brainless the Second. The Shah of Iran was loyle to his capo, and the Mayor of Munchkin Land just had to sit there and take it.
“You never thought, you’d mutter those words did you?” That line proves beyond any doubt that Little Carmine was not as stupid as everyone thought he was and that he knew others didn’t think highly of him.
Everybody called Little Carmine an idiot but he lived better than all of them. Sunshine, money, safety... Away from the constant violence, fighting and backstabbing.
Carmine Jr was one of those people who always tried to speak in a manner which reflects high intellect, but he's just parroting what he's heard his father and others say.
I genuinely do love that scene at the end, Little Carmine is a bafoon in many aspects, but he truly made the right call with trying to find happiness over success.
Tony thought Little Carmine was an idiot and yet wanted him to take the big seat after Johnny Sack. Little Carmine was the sacred and the propane to Tony.
What I love about the "brainless the second" quip is that we hadn't even met Little Carmine at that point. So it's a line you really appriciate on rewatch.
The fundamental question is, will borko be as affective as a channel that HBO was?.. & he will be even more so! But until he is…it’s gonna be hard to verify that he’s gonna be more affective
"The fundamental question is: 'will I be as effective as a boss like my dad was?' And I will be, even more so.....but until I am, it's gonna be hard to verify that I think I'll be more effective."
He was a lot smarter than he let on. Like when he told his dad "his turf, his appraiser" and then when he told tony "i bet you never thought youd say that" or the whole "whatever happened there" situation He was the only guy on the show playing the fool
Little Carmine was a modern day Leonardo Di Caprio. He knew what needed to be said and he didnt say nothing different, except when he needed to. He knew that to step out of line was an invitation to a party. That's why he never, ever did anything to do anything to anyone, except when he did, God rest his soul. Pasta Luego.
