Indeed. Sure you can always train fresh generals, but losing good ones that are available from the start always deprives you of some advantages.

yes, because in public and staff eyes, rykov or bukharin all are stalin but looke different, yet they are less scary but like still tyrants, and only stalin could get rid of his own rules

And all that will accomplish is speeding up the military conspiracy, like I said you totally can but saving generals to most people is the whole point.

@@BubblesZest you can time it so it cancels the decision, rather than do it early, which would ultimately speed it up. I've done it a couple of times and your delay is just like 1/2 days

I think we're talking about two different things, I tested it myself and even with diverting attention towards to the military; the military conspiracy fired before a coup could happen. (Assuming you Align the Zinovyevites) Cause you add the extra 210 days. If you're talking about saving Grigory Sokolnikov only I guess it could work.

@@BubblesZest I'm talking about not alligning the zinovyevites. One of the military related focus (I don't remember if it was support from the military or divert attention) makes the decision "first moscow trial" which is one of the stalin's "counter" decisions not fire, it's in the conditions if you hover over it. Since this purge is a 70 day focus you can time it so the conditions no longer meet 2-3 days before it finishes and it will cancel, saving some of your political advisors. Edit: Divert attention towards the military, it's on the focus description!

@@solidkuroko2926 If assassinating, It's important to consider the right branch a RACE to the coup before you run out of PP/paranoia-capped while dodging the "military thinking banned". Unless one has already been purged by a random event, Stalin always purges these same advisors in the 1st trial: Grigory Zinovyev, Lev Kamenev, Ivan Smirnov, Grigory Sokolnikov, and Aleksandr Shlyapnikov You are right, "Divert Attention to the Military" will save them all (substituting with a random mil purge - including a possible thinking banned event). But the cost/benefit here is hard to swallow. The only one who is aligned-right is Sokolnikov. He is pretty good!, (but not at the cost of 35 days and a potential thinking banned debuff). Out of the other 4 guys: two of them Smirnov and Shlyapnikov are consildered left, you need at least 140 extra focus days plus a 5% PP factionalism debuff (skipping the guys in prison) prior to the coup to unlock "Return Democracy to the party". The other two guys: Zinovyev, and Kamenev are the guys in prison. Sending them into exile will cost an additional 140 days of focus time plus another 5% permanent PP factionalism debuff. On top of this "Return Democracy to the party" costs 70 days and comes with yet a 3rd 5% permanent PP debuff (15% total). Alternatively, if you take "Enemies of the State" all 4 of these guys go bye-bye and you get your PP factionalism debuff removed. The PP factionalism debuff is not the important part, its the extra 280 days. During that time, he's slaughters relentlessly. You'll be lucky to have less than 3 permanent debuffs, no decent generals left, and you'll be very near your 4th trial (which always kills Bukharin , Rykov and Tomsky, if by some miracle they are still alive). Obviously, its just a game , there's no right or wrong way to play :) Just my opinion, if assassinating, there's no time for any of the moderates or left (or POUM) because of the perma-debuff bug.

The only thing that'll do is cause Stalin to shoot him sooner. That focus bypasses the first trial, nothing more.
