We all know that Di$ne¥ run their employees like prison labourers rather than actual representatives. Similar to the factories in China where most Disney merchandise are being produced for 12 cents/hour or around 0.8-1 RMB. Working 12-14 hour shifts. Nearly all mechandise are produced by prisoners.

For six grand, you can stay at a top Las Vegas hotel/casino, dress up like your favorite SW character, have a high-class escort come over and do some SW role play. And still have some money left.

I'm going on a transatlantic trip and staying at a hotel for a week, for a total of ~$750, same price as a single NIGHT on the starship intrepid PER PERSON. They literally don't understand the concept of value for money, and are just assuming the fans they've abused since they bought star wars will shell out any amount for the lowest effort shit imaginable.

All that for $300, so tell me again why it matters if its for 4 people when these other places are 5?

Speaking of Mass Effect I got a real hit of escapism the first time I was in the Citadel. I got lost in there for hours and for a while I felt like Earth light years away didn’t matter. And that was just a $50 video game.

Even the name of the ship "Halcyon" just screams GENERIC Sci-Fi. I can't even count how many times I've seen the word halcyon thrown around in random Sci-Fi media (books, video games, videos, board games, etc) so much over the years.

They should have just called this space 220: the 48-hour experience.

My favorite kind of demo was the first level (not necessarily the tutorial level, more like the first actual level) in its final form, with most bugs already fixed and the core game mechanics explained to me well enough so that I could jump right into the paid game if I do decide to buy it. Also, I own two PS1 demo discs. They’re great.

So this feels like the height of practical effects use? No this feels like 2021. A cheap cash grab made by amateurs. Disney can easily have access to the best practical effects company's on earth and they do this. They should have got weta or some other company to create everything. That company built a massive life size mech for the movie chappie that was so impressive looking. They even shrunk it down to model size for home hobbyists to build and paint. There's Close ups of the build process on the website artstation. One of the artists that worked on it posted it on there it's sick.

They could have done it so much better, too. They could have tried to tap into the lore, the force user's sense of prediction. By having the laser light start off very weak, you'd have to quickly angle the sabre to it before it "shoots" to simulate having very fast reflexes and predicting where the shot is going. How am I better at designing attractions than Disney?

i'm thinking that they could have made it a very immersive and collective vr experience where each person in the vr can see the other people in it and then maybe even have a different version where they can duel with another person virtually. Just a thought

Not only foreigners, I can totally see some Exec that makes $30K+ a month (before bonuses and other benefits, of course. Which is still laughable compared to what top Execs of large companies, let alone huge companies, make), drop the $6K, during their luxury Disney vacation, that was probably already nearing $10K. It's not for everyone, but I bet there's not that many rooms, so I'd expect this to be full most of the time, even in off-season... That's the world we live in... I really got a reality check when I vacationed at WDW back in Feb 2020... Even the cheapest Disney hotels (which are no better than a Days inn in terms of accomodations, although of course the rooms are pretty in the newly refurbed rooms, but the old ones were crap) were prohibitingly expensive for a low to medium low income family. You'd think that Disney would want to take a slice of everyone's pie, but WDW's popularity has gone so off the rails, that Disney now can fill their parks and hotels with the top portion of customers in terms of wealth.. Which means that they can now charge more for the same stuff they did before, with no additional investments needed. They didn't need to build an ultra luxury hotel, they just increased the price of everything, so that the ultra rich can spend their tens of thousands on a simple family getaways on "The happiest place on Earth™". PS: sorry for the rant

Unlikely, people that "won’t even blink at dropping 6k" have higher standards for expensive hotels. Even the kids will have seen better hotels with bigger rooms and less cheap interior. It will be a disaster, especially for people for traveled around half the globe to visit it.

I didn't stay in the inn when I was in Prague, but we did see the festival and things going on arond there and even sampled some food. I can highly recommend just as a passerby. Lots of historical places like the Charleston bridge and great food around there.

The sad thing is RLM's predictions aren't even really that wild or prescient. Same, I remember before the sequel trilogy was a thing star tours used to have Vader interact with the ship now every time I ride it it’s always Kylo or first order troopers. Really went downhill especially after they stopped Star Wars celebrations and parades.

There was a place in Orlando called Void. That had a maze set up irl and had a VR kit with a computer strapped to your back. So when you walked in the VR you could navigate and not bump into anything. It was the coolest set up. That's what they need

Dude, Disney easily has the money to have invested way more to make this a better experience. Honestly, Disney owns like half of consumable media. They could probably pour a hefty stream of cash into something on the side until the end of time… So why A. They decided to half ass it, who knows! B. Fanboys, who will be giving them money, instead of giving this very critique and voting with their wallets, they instead will buy and defend the shit. Why do they do it? Who knows!

She's a strong female character. She doesn't owe you coherence.

It's to imply there's more to the hotel experience than there actually is. She disappears rattling off the 'exciting' things she's about to show him, but because of the jump cut to ten-forward they don't actually have to show it and can just imply there's more to be seen in that breathless way small children who are bad at lying do when put on the spot and expected to make up a story to support their lie.

@@Thedarkbunnyrabbit the minute Sean said there's "activities" in the intro scene, it's obvious there is a severe shortage of actual things to do. I'm really hoping this was at least partially caused by covid difficulties and they were just hoping they could get away with it, and that this isn't a reflection of how low their quality standards have become. I know they're a money-grubbing company with no devotion to art anymore and that their CEO has explicitly and gleefully said this himself, but part of money making is delivering services and goods. This is starting to approach outright scammer territory the way they're misleading people, and I really hope it's an anomaly that they're behaving THIS badly to their audience.
