I do agree I have been doing the same since I was 14 for family and friends (installing) audio stuff but I have been through a lot of medical (cancer & 2 motorcycle accidents) issues and my brain is deteriorating I’m installing a Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX my daughter has one I feeling in love with it and installing front and rear cameras and I’m going to install an Audio Control AudioControl LC-5.1300 with my Audio Control AudioControl DQDX Black 6 Channel Digital Signal Processor I am waiting on my door speakers to show up all of this is stressing me out and I have had to what happened several of your videos to reassure myself! Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I've never commented on a video, but this is probably the most helpful video I've run across on RU-vid. I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 paired with a Kenwood double din radio and backup cam. The instructions that came with the kenwood were not very helpful. I watched this video 5+ times to figure out what I needed to do and saved money from having professional install. Everything has been installed for 3 months and no issues. Thanks again for all your help! I know this video has not only helped me, but tons of others as well. Thanks again!

Ha! This is the video I've been waiting to see. I have a 2005 Chevy Suburban. Now I can comfortably make sense of what harnesses I need. The PAC Audio website lists dozens of harnesses and adapters for this vehicle. This makes it very difficult to determine which harness/adapter to use. Now I'll be able to listen to great audio when I'm out looking at rocks! Great video. Keep up the good work!

Just did my05 Monte Carlo. What a joke, and that PAC RP5 interface made all my speakers less than half volume and all distorted and crackling. I bypassed one speaker from the interface and that one sounded great, so I sent the interface back and got a basic harness and a steering wheel control harness and made it work. No chimes, factory amp, but it sounds great. Idk why everyone says you need an interface to bypass the amp. I just left it hooked up and every speaker works fine. Amp not working but leaving it plugged in makes the speaker connection. New stereo pushes more watts so the amp isn’t a big deal

Not sure if this is monitored still but just purchased a 2004 yukon denali with typical pain in arse things to install a aftermarket head unit steering wheel controls, rear DVD and radio, Bose, on star. I already have a jvc double din from previous truck that got totaled. It has bluetooth etc. Question is the RP5 GM11 the best one for the job? And by having steering wheel controls and a mic for hands free, do you just use a y spliter? Not really concerned with on star but my truck has a mic in headliner for onstar

Great Video! I have used this vid for hooking up my new AVH1500NEX radio in my 2004 Silverado. I also put the RP4-GM11 for the steering wheel controls. Should I use the Bose amp? Would it sound better if I used the power out of the radio itself? I replaced the front stock speakers with some JBL Club 6500C speakers. Do I need to use the crossover that came with the new speakers or will the crossover in the new radio work? Thanks! Bryan

Great Job as usual! Here's a question. I have the Bose setup already, and honestly it sounds pretty decent to me the way it is. But I would like to improve the whole system using the least invasive process as possible. What are you're thoughts? I would like to just throw in a regular single din head unit. So I imagine I have to follow the same process with the RP4 right? After that is done, can I replace all the factory Bose speakers to similar after markets and get some improvement? Or do you think that could mess something up? Not sure if the Bose speaker setup works with various impedances/loads, etc. on the factory amp? Let me know what you think. thx.

Question: I ordered the same RP5-GM11 Class 2 data-bus with 24pin and 12pin harness. I have Bose system and want to keep my steering wheel controls but the only problem I have is that I don’t have the front and rear RCA cables like you have. Looks like I only have a red and white male connectors. I noticed you have 4. I don’t know if they have different versions and do I need them.

Hope you can help. I have a 01 chevy tahoe. The factory amp is behind the glove box. I installed a aftermarket stereo a few years ago and worked fine. My factory amp does not work anymore. I do have the accessory wire from the stereo wired in to the factory harness. Pink wire on the plug that is not used anymore. My question is. If I bypass the amp as show in the video you did on the red avalanche. Will the factory subwoofer still work? Or is there another bypass that needs to be done? I do have the bypass kit like in your video

Present Radio Pioneer AVIC W8500NEX I know this video is from 2 years ago. But if your not going to retain Onstar couldn't you just splice into the factory Onstar microphone and use that one. That's what I did and it's been working great I have had no problems with calls or anything. As far is it 2 USBs I repurposed the 12v outlet thats on the passenger side with a 2 port dual USB 3.0 male to USB 3.0 female Aux flush mount. And the HDMI with a male to female car flush mount extension cable.

I have the RP 5GM 11. I am installing an aftermarket, subwoofer and amp but I’m still using the door speakers and tweeters at the moment until I decide what speakers I will install there. Do I need to bypass the amplifier since I’m using aftermarker for subwoofer? I was going to just retain amplifier with the sub said it would powered the door still head out a little bit of extra power until I get upgrade but then I started taking will it interfere with the subwoofer and the mono amp. I also saw that there is an RCA input, which I do not think I actually have anyway, but for the Bose system to be plugged into the back of the head unit which my mono amp needs. to cause any electrical issues. They don’t see any instructions on that particular scenario.

So I'm confused. I installed a Pioneer unit and an RP5 module in my 2006 Silverado (non Bose, with OnStar, with steering wheel controls). Everything works perfect. But I never connected a remote turn on wire to the module...only used the remote turn on from the Pioneer harness to go an amplifier. If I recall, I capped the blue/white wire off on the rp5 harness. Where would the remote turn on wire go into the module? Or is the rp4 different with this?

I have a 2005 Yukon XL. I just ordered everything you showed here to duplicate the install. Two questions... #1: Does the OnStar still work as normal? #2: My truck has factory DVD and I use the RSE input to play the audio through the truck speakers. Will this kit account for that or is there an additional aux wire set that I have to connect?

+Five Star Car Stereo great video and incredibly helpful! Question on the Bose noise -- I've got an 04 Chevy with the Bose system. It makes the funky GM whine, and after watching your video, I'm realizing that it's probably because the installer didn't use the PAC SNI-1s (and when I removed the Pioneer, the noise goes away). I'm about to put in a new Kenwood DMX906S, but it doesn't have audio input RCAs like the Pioneer I'm replacing does. So if I'm not using a configuration with RCA connections for the speakers and wiring the speaker wires directly together, will the GM noise be an issue? If so, is there something I can do to prevent it? I'd hate to have to deal with that whine at acceleration again. Thanks!

I'm running the same setup rp5-gm 11. I purchased the two SNI-1noise isolators but not sure if they're necessary. Does the rp5-11 have noise isolation built in or should the SNI-1 be spliced in - cutting rcas off.

You guys are the best! What do you do for a 16 Ford Focus 6 speakers without Sony system. Also with Sync 3. Thanks!!!

+Dr. Sparky it is like an 150 we would do a T-harness behind the radio and add a AudioControl LCQ1 or Dm-608

Will the rp5 restore the volume to my factory dvd in my 05 Tahoe? I am going to be replacing the factory plugs that they cut to install the stereo in there now.

What harness should I use if I have a 2004 tahoe with Bose, Steering wheel controls, and rear dvd and radio? I would like to retain all of those functions. I don’t need onstar. Please help me find the correct harness.

1:07 what do you mean by C2R and RP4? At this very moment I’m doing a RP Advance and this harness even though is for a 2006 Silverado doesn’t look nothing like yours so I’m here wondering if I do need that black little harness you stuck back into the dashboard.
