THE STORY BEHIND 8 MILE, EMINEM IS DIFFERENT! 

Eminem asked Craig G to write the raps and coach his opponents in the battles, the actors, but Em didn't know what they would say before hand, he wanted it to. be. as genuine as possible. He might have researched them and written a few punches but he freestyled a lot to make more real and visceral for the movie

Eminem low key has a talent for film/production. He could’ve dipped his toes in a lot more like 50 and went that route but instead kept it rap. Gotta respect it

Anthony Mackie was raised in a good area by his married mother and father, who owned his own business, and went to (and graduated from) prestigious, private schools most of his life, including Juilliard. His brother is even a professor of engineering at Tulane. The fact that Em pulled from Macks stable upbringing and home life, privileged, private education and real background to use it against him in a diss to the character he was portraying is borderline genius. That look on Mackie’s face when he says that is a genuine look of “MFer, Really?”, which cracks me up every time. 😂

8 Mile was Anthony Mackie's first movie. Think about that- your first movie, and Em comes in and drops real-world truthful sh*t about you in the ending rap, unbeknownst to YOU?!? 😂😂 Good stuff!!!

If you watch the movie. He always chose to go second so he could use everything the opponent said against them. Imprinting on Papa Doc that’s what Em’s whole game plan was, not knowing he could also go first and ruin him. Just methodical

That movie 20 years old, and his verse against papa doc still gives me goosebumps

The end of the film is awesome because despite overcoming his greatest adversary (not just papa Doc but his nerves too) he just goes back to work after. No contract. No deals. No future. Just B Rabbit. And RIP Brittany Murphy

What's cool is that parking lot freestyle where em says "as I proceed to cook and grill ya thats all I took to kill ya, you better recognize me like I look familiar" ....I've actually heard him use that "recognize me like I look familiar" line in a real life battle ....the rap Olympics he uses that bar

Another thing that makes it even more 🔥 for me, is that Em literally does that exact same thing in his beef with people! Look at Killshot or The Warning, he uses his own faults and turns it into ammunition, and the other party is left.... Speechless in a way!

When i hear people say Eminem doesn't have showmanship and couldn't hold his own in todays Battlerap scene just need take a look at his performance in this movie, Yes its acting but the guy uses every tool available to make it feel like you are within the crowd. The guy is multitalented far beyond what he gives himself credit, If all his passion wasn't focused in HipHop the dude could be out giving lectures on writing poetry, art classes on drawing comics, seminars on how to progress through life and even starred in more movies along his way. Obviously the fame stops him having a normal life but if he wanted to attend many events as a guest speaker or teach a class he would have good wisdom to share. Marshall is humble but he has harnessed far more skills and knowledge than he gives himself credit for. Dude is a beast, a true rags to riches story with all the lows and highs life can throw at you along the way.

We will never, in our lifetime experience another artist like Em. It's plain and simple. Debate me if you disagree

Man I was so obsessed with 8mile I watched it over and over. Eminem was so hot. I loved the Superman music video on the bonus features DVD. I see x for sure but I think 50cent is who you look like the most. 💯

Now people gotta realize that one, Em was still learning and spittin' each day he could. Its not like he will always win battles. That's not the point. His craft grew over time. If he didn't improve, would a movie even exist after that? It's hip hop after all and well Em don't play. This was his dream. So even when he loses, he keeps going. People make it seem like he will never lose or that his skills are maxed out when really, Em just loves the sport of it all. At least Stevie you get it 😂

Em is a phenomenal actor very raw I’m gutted he didn’t take the offer to be southpaw but I respect his passion to hiphop. He looked hot af in 8 mile too ❤😂

Most people would get some fame, get rich, and coast...Em never felt he won yet...so he is still in battle mode! Lucky us. I just hope he truly knows how much his family LOVE him, not just. As an artist but a human too.

But never really understood all his music until i started watching you break down all his songs two years ago. Everything was written. Only thing not written were the extra freestyle battles in the deleted scenes. Since eminem was losing his voice, the extra battles were going to be as a montage w no noise so they let the rappers sat whatever they wanted. That's were eminem wasn't having it and turned on his mic. They explain this in the 8 mile behind the scenes.

The extra stuff (cut scenes) we’re all supposedly off the top. They had needed extra scenes in case and let the extras write their own raps. They explain it on the movie extras I believe.
