The Story of Arjuna and the Curse of Urvashi  

Arjuna, one of the Pandava brothers, was known for his valor and devotion. During his period of exile, he visited Indra's court in heaven. There, the celestial nymph Urvashi, enamored by Arjuna's beauty and prowess, approached him with romantic intentions. However, Arjuna, respectful of Urvashi and considering her as a mother figure due to her relationship with his ancestors, politely rejected her advances.
Urvashi, feeling humiliated and angered by the rejection, cursed Arjuna to live as a eunuch for a year. Despite the harshness of the curse, Arjuna accepted it with grace and humility. This curse later proved to be a boon during the Pandavas' final year of exile, which they spent incognito. Arjuna, under the guise of Brihannala, a eunuch dance teacher, stayed undetected in the court of King Virata, thus fulfilling the terms of their exile.
