I have found that telling people to consider what actions they have taken and decisions they have made to put them in the situation they find themselves in when "bad stuff happens" they get very defensive and angry rather than reflecting on self improvement. Probably a result of pride, (sigh) human nature... Also, I think what JP says about killing our ideal is spot on. My husband is in such a dark place after our 1st child died last year. We wanted what all parents I believe want for their kids, for our son to have a better life, and reach for a higher standard than we as his parents experienced and attained in life. My husband always said that he was so proud of our son, and our son became my husbands hero, his "ideal". Now that Hunter is gone because of experimenting with drugs combined with an undiagnosed heart condition discovered during autopsy, my husband questions every bit of advice he ever gave. He blames himself. Without our son around anymore, it's as if my husband is living like he has nothing left to live for.

My deepest condolences to you, your husband and family. My 45 yr old son had a psychotic break, about seven years ago. I feel the same as your husband. Most of me has also died. We are genetically connected to our children. 🙏

If you limit your mind.. to the material and to time as one episode! Then Cain and Abel are as read in the book! But, when the spirit had to become a soul... But hold the spirit form! How did it do it so? 1 Corinthians 15:45 [45]And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. The third, is then placed together! Where the spirit is the first temple (Moses) Where the soul is the second temple (Jesus) The last everlasting is the third temple! ( Yet to be disclosed) The episode of eternal life!!🙏 What a joy, as this is that time to see! When an atheist becomes such a follower of the book... Congratulations on what you have achieved! 🙏❤️

Epiphany... The idea or motivation behind a sacrifice may be just as important as the sacrifice itself. If you strictly sacrifice in order to get a return, the sacrifice may balance itself out in the wrong way in the universe. But if you sacrifice because it's a genuine movement of your heart, it comes back in a more preferable fashion...

Jordon missed the point. Abel's offering was acceptable because, knowing God required a blood sacrifice, he offered a lamb. The fruits of our labor can never be enough. That's why Cain's offering of a sheaf of wheat was rejected. Even Genesis points to Christ-the Lamb of God sacrificed for our sins.

That's not what the account of Cain and Abel means. The lesson the Bible teaches is that Cain's sacrifice was something he produced by his own efforts, and that's why God rejected it. Abel's sacrifice was a sacrifice of blood, which he dd not produce by his own efforts...the Bible says "without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins". The lesson is...you can't work to produce your own salvation.

Wait, if the first humans are Adam and Eve, and their first children are Cain and Abel, what the hell is the purpose of marking Cain? Where are all the other people that could possibly take vengeance? Maybe what God "fears" is that Adam would kill his own remaining son? Or were there other humans on earth that I'm not privy to...? This story seems very suspect on the face of it. Plot holes man, plot holes.

Cain should have just stopped planting crops. Move to a new place far away from home and sell or become a Shepard. Farming is too much work for 90% of people. Cain got frustrated and reacted without thinking of the consequences. That sounds very human. People are emotional animals. We come from chimpanzees who are even far more brutal.

@@bpmotivation8926.. God, could have advised him. If God loved Cain, his lineage and his creation. Where was Adam. It's the father Adam, who could have helped as well. Cain probably wouldn't listen to Eve. mum. Because it Needs to come from a father figure. Imagine living with that huge burden of guilt. Alone! Knowing he had taken his brothers life. (My punishment is too great!) I'm sure he loved his brother, but after a long day in the sun with no love from God & Adam Cain had enough. He snapped! I'm sure God and Adam knew this. Same thing with Noah and Abraham. People are complex and emotional human beings and need love and empathy. Even males. I say this because my best friend just passed, and I was there, but was useless to prevent it. Now, I think, Everyday! What I could have, should have done to prevent the horrible accident and prevent his slipping and falling. I could have prevented it. 😢 If I took the proper steps and awareness. I understand Cain's pain and sorrow. It was an accident. I don't think Cain was a psychopath. Cain worked harder and longer hours. Cain, went on to become a great man. Right? Without him, we would have no farmers, and other complex trades. We always marginalize farmers. Jesus, would have helped. Jesus understood the guilt of sin. That's why he forgave everyone. Guilt is a distructive and emotional feeling.

SO much fan-fic in that retelling of the story. You know, Mr. Peterson, et al, if you embellish a story to meet your end analysis, you're being disingenuous. You're not letting the story stand for itself; you've rewritten and embellished so much that it no longer even resembles the Biblical passage. It's more that you wrote your own story to support your own ideas. Such balderdash.
