I liked Zagreus' intepretation of the situation being extreme unfair.

and the doubt was turned to joy to see her there... and then to horror. because he has doubted her love. Before he lost her. Orpheus could have the high mountains and trees bow to him because they were greatful to hear his performance. His music could make a momentary spring. the flowers flourish and grow. But he lost that when he lost her. His music was still amazing but when he lost her... he was very hurt.

I’ve seen many interpretations of why Orpheus turned such as anger, fear, excitement, or an outside force but the one that always sold me was his love for her. All the other symptoms or causes can be brushed off but he simply wasn’t allowed to look at the Woman he loved above all else in Life.

It wouldn’t have been very long either. Orpheus was murdered by the cult of Dionysus pretty shortly after he failed to save Eurydice.

I mean the line in the Metamorphoses about her thoughts on it was "Eurydice, dying now a second time, uttered no complaint against her husband. What was there to complain of, but that she had been loved?"

@@therainbowwillow4453 Bit by a snake, dies, husband comes to get you, fails the test, you go back to the underworld. Yeah, I see that but in the stories he turns around usually for three reasons: 1. he is out of the Underworld and turns to see her 2. she stumbles and he turns to help her and 3. he is overcome with fear and doubt and wants to make sure she's there. The last one is admittedly dumb but all of them are related to just how much Orpheus loved Eurydice. It can also be attributed to most of the gods being lying tricksters. Also, walk down a long hall with no footsteps or proof that the love of your life is behind you and try not to doubt that she's really there.

I always found a peculiar similarity between the Orpheus - Eurydice myth and the Izanami and Izanamgi one from Japan

I've been trying to get the escape ending over and over again, but it just doesn't trigger. But I always start again. Because to start again, to see the way the game could be, in spite of the way that it is... I learned that from a friend of mine.

I believe his singing voice is done by Zagreus’ VA

@@RiskoPlexus yeah, I always thought that VAs were amazing but lately I've been looking more into the Voice acting in some of my favourite games and I have a newfound uter respect and admiration for the VAs, in any language, it just adds so much to the experience, it's awesome.

What really shocked me was finding out Orpheus’ VA is, in fact, actually a man 😂

I literally shed a tear when I heard their duet for the first time when I first played this game. It's literally so beautiful.

The one where Dionysus told Zag to tell Orpheus a lie that they are one and the same is based on the Orphic Mystery religion/cult in Ancient Greece

@@lyddiharvey yep!! Hades and Persephone had a number of children actually, but they were never particularly popular, it seems. And aren't really considered "canon" (to use a more modern term). Zagreus was the most popular one I believe (especially now) but if I remember correctly, they were also a few stories/myths of a daughter too.

He was probably at the surface, but if he was there I imagine him being angry about it

@@lonelyronin2428 That's, quite literally, how Orpheus's myth's main plot point got started. He played a song so _sad_ that everyone just went "go get her you sadboy". To note, he nearly did succeed.

Well he was in a depression for failing the one chance to get his love back and then a bunch of angry women ripped him to pieces. So when he came to the Afterlife and still couldn't find her, that probably would be the final straw to there being any chance to fix him at all.

Right? Achilles and Patroclus were sad as well, but they didn’t make it their whole aesthetic. I guess myrmidons have self-care standards 😂

I think you can visit the Admin Chamber and reunite them any time you want as long as you've already had the conversation with Nyx

I guess from Eurydice's point of view Orpheus turning around was a sign that he didn't trust her to follow him, rather than Orpheus not trusting Hades to keep his word. (As well as the whole "you had one job" reason)

@@bunnys9704 already dead. In the myth, on their wedding day, some dude whose name I forgot was drunk and wanted them muse cheeks. After he confessed his love, She ran away, the guy chasing her. She stepped on a poisonus snake, got bit, and died. We know the rest. Didn't know about the eternal servitude. The story I heard, after he failed, he went around in eternal sad boi hours, making everything cry with his sad songs. While he was singing, some of Dionysus's butt naked lady followers approached him. They were getting lit in the forest, and extremely drunk. They tried to get Orpheus to join them, but he was too sad, and ignored them. They got pissed and attacked him, ripping him apart. They chucked his head into a river, where it continued to sing. Finally it ended up under a bush, still singing, which is how the muses, one them his mother, found it. They found the rest of him, and held his funeral. Orpheus, now dead meets Eurydice in the underworld and are reunited in everlasting love in death, and live happily edgy after.

Not necessarily I think, you just have to keep interacting with both of them, keep giving them nectar, regain access to the Admin chambers and wait till Nyx tells you the location of the Contract.

Why he is depressed: Orpheus and Eurydice story is tragedy. Eurydice died after bit by snake and Orpheus went to underworld for her. His song so slap and touched, Charon gave him free ride, Cerberus fell asleep to his song and he made underworld king and queen cried. Hades then gave him a chance to reunite with Eurydice and let him go with one condition: never look back until you get out of underworld or Eurydice will return. She would follow from behind. Sadly, he did look back after got close to surface. He's so depressed, he did multiple suicide attempt but everything was failure. He only died after angry nymph who got jealous ripped him off.

I tought the same thing so i gave them nectar but nothing happened, now i can t give them more nectar. I think it must just be a minor bug

Just continue talking to them maybe some key dialog hasn't been triggered yet.

Just to be sure just continue talking to Orpheus and Eurydice whenever you get the chance and give them nectar too

You need to defeat lernie to get the diamonds in order to be able to do stuff like release Orpheus from his contract
