Vanderbilt is a collegiate baseball powerhouse, competing for the College World Series almost every season. They also produce tons of amazing MLB pitchers, from David Price to Sonny Gray to Walker Buehler. Its newest crop with Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker might be its best yet and will most likely go near the top of the MLB Draft. This is the story of how the Vanderbilt Commodores have turned into such a prestige program and pitching factory.

Yeah, these guys are Blue chip caliber prospects (5 - star players, Above Average players), they are definitely going to be in MLB for sure! These top Prospects will be the next David Price or the next Sonny Gray or even for Jack Leiter, the next Al Leiter (Like Father, Like Son)!

Awesome video. I played D1 about 15 yrs ago and Vandy was just average. UNC, FSU, Texas, Oregon St. etc. were dominant when I played. We would be nervous to face 1 high draft pick on a weekend.. Can't imagine seeing Rocker then Leitter back to back nights.

Now that guys can make money off of NIL in college we may see more stars go the college route than straight to the minors. I could see baseball taking off more with the big name schools having well known players.

Because the have an advantage that the others schools don’t have. Everyone else has 11.7 scholarships. Vandy has the whole team on scholarship because of a loophole in the NCAA rules.

Thegeneralms1 Vanderbilt’s baseline tuition as a private school is also much higher than public schools who get state funding. Basically every player at any state school gets a $20,000+ scholarship from Vandy’s tuition.

@@jakej4805 You can't draft a catcher #1 overall. You can find catchers anywhere look at how stallings turned out hes a top 10 catcher and a low pick. It's hard to find elite pitching especially when you need a lot of it to win. They have to take a chance on a pitcher and if they don't because of money that shows again why the pirates are a terrible organization
