The Strain is FX’s high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, former head of the Center for Disease Control, Canary Team in New York City. After he and his team were called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism, Eph and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers waged war for the fate of humanity itself.
As the final season begins, nine months have passed. The world has fallen into darkness, and the strigoi are in control. The explosion at the end of season three triggered a global nuclear apocalypse. The resulting nuclear winter liberated the strigoi allowing them to move about during daytime, and enabling the Master to establish a totalitarian regime. Preying on the fears of the populace, the Master and his minions have created an unsettling alliance in "The Partnership."
The majority of humans are now working for the strigoi, operating with a single understanding - collaborate or die. With the world in disarray and our heroes disbanded, each of them will have to overcome personal hardship and defy death for even the smallest chance at fighting back. All the while, the Master reigns supreme, furthering his scheme for the end of the world as we know it.
In the face of annihilation…do our heroes have what it takes to save humankind?

del toro put the blade character in cause he made blade 2,..all the other material he copied from dracula prince of darkness 1966 and salems lot 79..made in a bigger way

My mom and I both watch this show and when we try to explain it to other people what it's about we fall kinda short because you can't put this show in a box. It's one of those shows you just have to watch for yourself to see how awesome it is and I freakin' LOVE Quinlan. Such a badass!

It's almost like one of those old shows from the 90s, like Buffy or Angel. It's just much more violent, grittier, and even more campy. This show thrives on camp.

I'm like it's vampires but not the traditional vampires, they suck blood but the way the do it and turn people into vampires is in a completely different way, kinda alien like but then they... (other person looks at me like I've got two heads) Ah screw it, just watch the show for yourself.

The Strain is one of he most original tv series on right now! Everything about the show is 100% amazing! Mr. Quinlan is surprisingly a very attractive character. As a writer myself, I admire the writers and the entire crew that made this show the best. The story, characters, design are so AMAZING! I'm in love! Shout out to Miguel Gomez (Gus) .. damn boy you are sexy!

This is the best vampire series that I have seen. The vampires here are baddass, and not the pretty boys that other series or vampire movies portray. I think that this series is original, a must see for vampire genre aficionados.

***** It's personal taste. Vampires portrayed as sex toys does not cut it for me. I like the more perturbed ugly looking creature from Hell that does not inspire any sympathy for a vampire character.

Quinlan can be compared to Blade,---their mother's 'infected' by a vampire while they were pregnant. Quinlan's mother hunted with him until she was released, in the book. I find him super fascinating

+ezthejedi in the books Quinlan has no ears and no nose, which is a trait EVERY fully developed vampire is said to have. His clothing is different in the books also. He is described as wearing blue jeans, along with a tactical vest and a hooded jacket, he wears gloves with the middle fingers cut out of them so his 9 inch talons are exposed. (in the comics, Quinlan is illustrated on 3 or 4 of the covers. He and McHattie's Vaun rock the same exact SWAT gear), just like how the T.V show gave us. Quinlan is also extremely tall and bulky in the books. He is described as towering over Fet and Creem, and both of those men are describes as giants in the books. The TV show Q uses the bone sword that he has in the books. also, in the novels, he is the chief body guard of the ancients, and their most loyal security guard. in the show, he is 'merely using them to get to the master'. he is a dick to the ancients in the show, but not in the books. oh yeah and the trench coat was made for tv, it wasn't in the novels either. BTW. Everything you saw Vaun do last season with Gus and the ancients matches that of what Quinlan did in the books.

ezthejedi I love the show. I've been watching since the start last year. I don't agree with a lot of what they do but all in all I enjoys the hell out of it. I don't like the coat look that Q has right now but I'll bet any money they will put him in SWAT gear soon! U like the show?

To bad I didn't hear about this show until 2017. Amazing!!! Watch 3 seasons on Hulu. Now I just need to watch the last season. ugh they should of made more seasons. I'm addicted. and quinman is so damn fine

Nice to have such a bad ass character fighting for the human side, hes essentially their Blade lol. Also with how much he wants the master dead despite not being too loyal to the ancients, im guessing there is some personal vendetta against the Master. He has chased the master throughout time so i think that the master was the one who turned his mother will she was pregnant with him. Thats probably why he wants him dead so bad.

What happened to this show?? The first season was so good and now the second season is almost over I hardly enjoyed it all they made so many changes its like a completely different show now it kind of sucks really bad compared to the first season im a little dissapointed

zack is the worst actor on tv. The writers did a horrible job on his roll he runs off at any time destroys his dad lab and gets Norha killed. He cant see how life is past he child eyes to see what the hell is going on. Come on FX a child that age should understand whats going on and that his mom not his damn mom anymore. Please kill off Zack and do away with all the boring love making. This show could be great but the story telling needs to improve and zacks need to be off the show could you have not found a better kid actor than that. I give him props for being a actor but come on write some better lines for the kid or just get him off the show he the worst actor on tv period.

It's all set up. Just watch the master will take Sachs body next season and the story will culminate with eph killing his own son to save the world. And we will see kind of an interesting turn of the plot. Quinlan will finally kill his father and eph will be a father killing his son. I'm willing to bet it now. Zach will be the master next season. It's a bold move moving to a child's body but it's the best defense the master has.

Hannibal King ,from Marvel's TOMB OF DRACULA, played by Ryan Reynolds, a private detective turned vamp also comes to mind. Maintained a code against feeding on people during his existence as one of the undead.

True, but the vampires in the Strain follow the Strigoi myth much more closely than any other vampire story. The Strigoi are the original vampires straight from Transylvania, Romania.

So what are the ancients? The Master needs to change bodies as well. Are they alien sentience? Are they even human form? I still don't get it.

I'll try to explain this to you in basic terms: God sent down 3 angels, one of which suddenly had a thirst for blood. He quenched that thirst by taking human victims and drinking from their jugular veins. God sent down a divine beam of light, and 7 pieces of his body were scattered around the Earth. The cursed pieces seeped blood into the dirt, and in this dirt the worms and the Ancients were born. The Master was the final one to rise, hence he is considered the youngest. He was born from the neck piece of this angel, and this is why he has such a strong thirst for power and blood.
