Anyone catch the fact that when Zach set off the first nuke, he said to Eph "I hate you!!" and when he set off the last one he said to Eph "I love you..."? I thought that was really cool and really poignant. Great end to a great series.

Exactly my point. Zach got a solid redemption by making up for his faults, he may have been the cause of "the Fall" as some are calling it, but he also was the savior at the end of the day

Hated the actor though I was cheering when he died cause of how much of a little shithead he was through seasons 2-4

Well spent four years following this show, good send off. The Father/Son aspect at the end With The Master/Quinlin & Eph/Zach was a nice touch. Don't know how I didn't see that coming. Just wish Fet could have made Setakian's name reign over the Masters last minutes as he intended. Gonna miss the show.

This is funny you say this, because *SO* many fans of the show seem to miss the point about the 'Lumen' and the "Face of God" aspect. They think that the book was either a bluff or "vampire wolf tickets." But apply the bit that Setrakian says to Alex right before about the process of connecting through prayer rather than end result - he realized that the 'Lumen' doesn't tell you a "recipe" for killing the Master, but rather the process or state of mind you have to undertake in order to beat him. To me, I always assumed that "the Face of God" - apart from being a blinding light like the sun (or a nuclear warhead) also referred to the concept of a father sacrificing his only son for the world... And somewhere along the lines, Eph must've gotten this. Because when he is in the tunnels and goes to detonate the bomb, Zack lines him up in his scope, but doesn't fire. Well, what if someone *other* than Zach's father were doing it? What if Fet did so as planned? Would Zack have killed him if he could? Probably. So, the nuke was only part of it.

This was a great show, I'm going to miss it sooooooo much! The ending was epic and ended perfectly! Love defeated the Master, because Zach still had love and care for his father, he saw past his fake disguise as Eph and did the right thing by saving the world and eradicating the Strigoi! Touching, epic, and just solid redemption, even though it required sacrifice like Setrakian stated in his theory about the Ouroboros! Great job to this whole cast and crew, you will be missed tremendously!

RJ I did, because Eph really didn't have anything to lose. He had lost his wife and son. Did I expect the Master to take Eph as a host, nope, but I did expect Eph to be turned or Zach to be turned in the end as a true test of love. I didn't expect Zach to be the one to save the world and kill the Master for good, but I think that did the show justice. In the end, love defeated the Master through an act of noble sacrifice and redemption. Eph had some serious guts to tackle the Master and risk his life for his son that betrayed him, but made the right decision in the end. Also, nobody is ever going to know that it was Zach that detonated the warhead, not Eph.

I agree, it just sucks that they had to abandon the whole Lumen plot.
@Sparrow9642
@Sparrow9642 7 лет назад
Delta They didn't, seeing they did exactly what the professor told them to before he was put out of his misery. They took away the Master's attachments, and made the Master resort to leaving his safe haven. The Lumen stated the theory of Ouroboros, which in the end was exactly what happened, Eph took fate into his own hands, and confronted the Master himself. The one who took everything from him. Once he was turned, Zach used love to defeat the Master, and sacrificed himself to end the strain of the Strigoi, killing himself and redeeming himself after causing the strain to spread.

They sorta did. They spent much of the series building up the whole Lumen plot, but then were forced to cut it out due to them losing the 5th season. I don't hate this show/season at all. I'm just saying I wish they were able to do more with the Lumen. Also, whatever you do, stay away from the The Strain's reddit page. Every single post is about how stupid this show is, or how bad the writing sucks, or how Zach didn't suffer a more painful death. Just wanted to let you know, since you and I clearly liked how this show ended.

I'm disappointed with a certain death in the finale. The character deserved a better fight and death scene 😕 Anyways I discovered this show this summer and binged watched it. I can't believe I didn't watch it when it came out. Anyways it is one of the best things I've seen on TV 🤘🤘🤘

Good finish. Really enjoyed this show, possibly even more than The Walking Dead.

I defiantly enjoyed it more then The Walking Dead. I use to really enjoy The Walking Dead during the beginning of it's series. During season 6 and 7 I got really bored by the show, while season 7 is going on I decided season 7 will be the last season I'm watching then I'll stop watching. It was a real struggle to try to finish season 7(I would watch every episode a few days after my dvr recorded it) but I finally finish season 7. If you say "If you don't like the show anymore why you still watching it?" because I thought to myself if I've been watching it since season 1 then it would make sense to try to finish the current season. Season 8 starts very soon but I'm still sticking to my promise of not watching any more new episodes and the 7 seasons were enough for me. The Strain lasted 4 seasons, The first 2 seasons of The Strain were predictable but still fun to watch, BUT the last 2 seasons were unpredictable and really entertaining at the same time. I think I even enjoy the Teen Wolf show more then The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead needs to end at Season 10 and they want it too last 20 seasons and on lol good luck with that.Its already becoming very stale and there are soo many new shows coming on...TWD is at its peak.
@Browningate

@missourigreen I'd probably have to agree. The Walking Dead just seems to not be as anchored as The Strain thanks to its open-ended story. Our family will still view it, but more because of the fact that it's a tradition than anything else anymore.

All that time the Lumin didn't matter. I wish they had a line where the Master said it was all bullshit so that story line meant something.

I'm kinda annoyed that they killed off Quinlan and Zack got his mini redemption by killing The Master but at least he died.
@Sparrow9642
@Sparrow9642 7 лет назад
Joseph Uranga Quinlan was going to die no matter the outcome. As he stated, it was a "we win or die trying" final stand against the master. It didn't surprise me that he died
@BlackCat-vg5yx
@BlackCat-vg5yx 7 лет назад
Joseph Uranga same here. Quinlan deserved a better death. Smashing him with a foot was funny and lame. I would have preferred if the master got his heart out like in the vampire diaries...it's a quick death. Or Quinlan should have been the one who pushed the button.
@BlackCat-vg5yx
@BlackCat-vg5yx 7 лет назад
tutenkharnage The way he was killed is not a warrior's death, all I'm saying could have been handled better. He could have just died from the explosion but not by the master's foot 🙄
@Browningate
@Browningate 7 лет назад
It's definitely a small bummer that he died not knowing if the cause would ultimately succeed or if it was all for nothing. Ditto for Dr. Goodweather. The irony of it is that the master died thinking that he'd won.

And Zach is the Goat again. I never knew why he was so hated the actor who played him did a great job. Nice show, I will get in DVD for my collection soon. I felt the end coming soon after two other key characters were lost in the previous episode.

Loved the finale and will miss the show, its become one of my favorites :( About the only thing I feel sort of let down on was after all of the fighting for the Lumen it was almost of no use in defeating the Master. Or maybe I missed something. I just feel it was underused in the final season for how important it was prior.
