Alot of the games where haaland goes invisible i think its because pep wants him to try to pin down the central defenders in order to create space for the likes of foden
True to some extent but he needs to do more in big games, he just disappears from the game and even if he gets crucial chances he completely bottles it and makes piss poor passes when pressured. If he wants to reach the level of messi or ronaldo he needs to do more.
Haaland “ghosts” in big games because he is always double marked by the centre backs so he is quiet but allows others like kdb or foden to be free and control the game.
@@lethudlamini233 bro, Man City is one of the best, if not the best, drilled team in the world. Everyone knows what to do and where to be. If there is a problem in linking up, sure as Hell it ain't the team.
Many strikeras have great link up play but it's useless when you can't finish just look at nunez and Jackson they are fantastic ballers but they lack composure@@lethudlamini233
@@riichobamin7612 I'm not saying that the team is the problem. In fact Haaland's job isn't even to link up play,it's to keep defenders busy allowing other players to shine. His link up play isn't even bad,we've seen him do it well in Germany. I am just saying to see his true effect on the game you have to look at all the players on the field
The majority of the people being negative about Haaland don't even deserve the honour of standing in his shadow. He's in his early 20s and he's won the treble, broken countless records and won league and cup titles. And by all accounts he's a decent guy. All this talk is just people in the media being negative for clicks. Don't let them taint all he's achieved.
Its admirable what he has achieved but most of the people who watch world football watch because of its beauty and unpredictability. Haaland is a good goalscorer but his plays aren't exciting or contain the beauty or the chaos that we expect from football, yet . Maybe in a couple of years he can do it but currently he is just a goal machine and is quite replaceable. He cannot be termed as a match winner unlike the other ones .
the best thing about erling is his attitude , after achieving so much at this age , he is still very down to earth , handling the press correctly, these type of people go long way , people may say mbappe to be better than him in coming time but i think haaland will go a lot higher due to his character
To me is quite clear. People who say Haaland is not the best or he is not that good, is because A: They never saw him play outside ManCity and B: They dont understand how ManCity plays; He sacrifices himself for the team A LOT and he still manages to get 32 Goals in 40 games this season. He WILL be better than Harry Kane (if he stays in PL for a long time) and he WILL break CR7 goal record if he continues like he is doing so far. CR7 has a 0.73 GPG average, Messi has 0,79 and Haaland 0.82. He is only 23!! Strikers or Forwards usualy have their peak between 28 and 31 so, there is a lot of room for improvement.
This BS, delusional narrative has to stop, He literally had the 4th most assist in the Man City squad last season At 22 Messi had 92 goals and 46 assists in 200 games while Haaland had 187 goals and 44 assists in 236 games Ronaldo: Minutes per goal or assist at 21 was 156. Messi: Minutes per goal or assist at 21 was 103 Haaland: Minutes per goal or assist at 21 was 78 He’s clear much more then a goal scorer, he’s literally had only two less assists then messi at 22 years old, a master of getting into space, can carry the ball forward when heading up top, great at creating changes, a master at creating more space for his teammates when attacking due to getting the defenders to focus on, great at keeping the ball for Man City by rescuing it when it’s high in his air due to his amazing air ability, brilliant at pressing he tops the Premier League charts for pressures in the final third etc….he didn’t make city worse, they scored more goals with him and he won them the treble, he’s a never before seen freak of nature. Do you remember the good old days where they had Sterling and Mahrez running all the way to the goal line and putting in a cross that nobody got to? You remember how Phil had to stop playing on the wing where he performed the best and become a make shift false 9 who struggles to finish consistently? The team isn’t playing to his strengths, 68% of his runs aren't used by Man City team-mates
@@KMD-qj1qc yeah, totaly agree with you. Great analysis btw. The good ol' days of Sterling and Mahrez dribling to the touch line and then either pass back or trying shots from a 0,5 degree angle xD
@@KMD-qj1qcnot much to run into with a low block.. Besides, the only player allowed to take the risky pass is kdb.. The other player just simply dont have the ability to do a delicate and precise pass.. Thats why man city need paqueta/wirtz..
calm down with the CR7 goal record bro . dude is 23 and the amount he has slowed down in just the second season , I dont see him playing till his 30's and being good enough
wtf are you on about? The same team won the Bundesliga for a full decade ffs 😂 The English prem is clearly the best league in the world and I’m not English.
@@HibeeMcbee the premier league isnt much better city has won 5 leagues in the past 10 years and they are on their way for the 6th, before them chelsea was dominating before that man utd was dominating, before that liverpool, sure the premier league doesnt have massive league streaks like bundesliga and some random teams winning from time to time but using the arguement of a team winning the league many times is bs lets see at england teams rn how are they doing in europe? city lost to real, liverpool lost to atalanta, west ham to leverkusen, arsenal to bayern, aston villa to olympiacos who isnt even 1st in greece, brighton lost to roma as for man utd and newcastle they didnt even get past the group stage, is this the best league in the world?
Haaland may ghost in certain big games, but that takes half the opponent's defense away from Foden, KDB etc. He's shown what he can do at Dortmund. At City, his job is to score goals, and even during an "off season" he's still well on track for the golden boot.
Haaland has proven himself in the German league with Dortmund and now in his second year in the Premier League. Sure he doesn't dribble as well as, say, Messi, but that is not what he needs to deliver , and that he does in spades .He does it so well in fact that his other skills can come with the years ..whilst being the best Number 9 in the Premier League
He's not really clumsy, quite the opposite, he's very athletic - extremely so considering his height. His movements has been characterized as clumsy by people I suspect are so non-athletic they fail to recognize it in someone with such a frame who moves differently from the stereotypical athlete.
@@redaderoua8816 it’s crazy Man City was able to win the treble last year (and theyll a win a double this year) with a striker who ghosts against all good teams. I don’t know how that works, but more teams should consider employing strikers who cannot play against good teams.
@@thespeculum785 I'm not denying he's not a good striker or that the team he's in AND the coach who actually makes it all happen aren't great but he's not as good as he's being made to be especially by people like you, When jesus was in the team they were winning doubles and the league all the time but it doesn't mean he's some God like top 3 striker. One's team performance doesn't determine a players level or form, it's an 11 man's game. You didn't even respond to my specific criticism of the player just vague statement about how the team is doing great... which means you probably know there is truth to what I'm saying but you're too cowardly to respond to me head on.
Every young talent has the phase where they peak too early and then slow down a bit once defenders figure them out. Some of them like Vinicius and Odegaard rise up again while others like Ansu Fati and Alexandre Pato fade into obscurity. Only time will tell with Haaland although everything so far points to him being a world class striker for decades to come. Great video!
The boy knows his flaws and for Christ's sake, he promises to work upon them and develop. He is not rigid and he takes up accountability, could we just let him be or help him get better?
It’s crazy to call him a league 2 player All these people are expecting him to change his role and position and complain when he just sticks to what he knows. Hes not a striker that’s going to drop deep and because of that he scores at a ridiculous level. When he plays deeper he doesn’t score and the criticisms begin but when he’s scoring hat tricks they praise him
He didn't call him a league 2 player? Didn't you watch it?.. he said he's a brilliant scorer but his play apart from that is like a league 2 player which everyone should agree😊
I really hate the term "no ball knowledge", but I really think it's acceptable for people who don't see how good this man is. Obviously, he is an incredible goalscorer, but that's not what people are criticising. What I don't get is that anyone could watch one single game of when he was at Dortmund and see that he is actually very good on the ball? Granted, his hold up and link up play isn't the best, but he's genuinely very good at driving with the ball, his passing is very good (he's even shown that with some great assists at City), and he scored some amazing goals for Dortmund. I'm sure the same goes for his time at Salzburg. The difference is that he doesn't NEED to do that at City. I'm sure Pep is telling him to just sit up front and wait for the ball because that's all he needs to do. He couldn't do that at his previous clubs, so he needed to do more with the ball. Either way, if we are talking about strikers who are good on the ball, then Jesus must be the best striker in the world. Is Jesus better than Haaland? Better than Watkins? Better than Isak, or Toney? It’s such a silly way to think about it. Not all strikers need to be about that. In terms of his form in "big games", that is a bit more weird. Maybe it's a tactical thing, as mention by one of the top comments. Against Madrid, it seemed like he was being ignored by his teammates, if anything, only having one shot by the end of the 3-3 draw. Making great runs, creating loads of space in the box, but Foden, Grealish, and Bernardo were just uselessly passing it around the edge of the box, terrified to take a risk. KDB and Doku are the only players on the team who have the balls to take some risks. That's why they link up with Haaland so well, KDB especially. Haaland also does create loads of space for his teammates. Even for Foden's brilliant goal, he dragged a man out of position to give Foden the space. This kind of stuff is exactly what goes unnoticed by the people who don't understand the game.
It’s very obvious that City plays in a way that favors crosses in the box. If Haaland was played through instead of being primarily found in the box, he would never “disappear”
@@rastkoDev Haaland scored against Liverpool this year and was shut-out in both games against Arsenal. Saliba flat-out bodied Haaland on a potential counter just this year. He is the correct player to refer to.
@@rastkoDev VVD from a few years ago? Sure, no comparison. But they are very close these days. Saliba has a legit claim to being the best CB in the prem.
You think Erling is the greatest striker of all time or right now? Cause there’s a big difference. I’d say Ronaldo or 2012 CF Messi if i need a goalscorer.
@@eliaskjrbo8142 Messi was the greatest CF because he was made to be, it was a superteam and tactics made only for him to reach his ultimate potential. He's an amazing player but not as a pure CF, if all you need is a striker to finish your plays, players like Suarez, Cavani, Aguero or Haaland are way more suitable to this discussion than Messi.
Man city plays a football under pep where they dont involve the striker as much until the final ball for him to put in the net. He would be more involved in real madrid or even dortmund.
If a striker is banging in 20 plus goals a season why does it matter if he’s a complete player, shearer was hardly a all rounder but one of the greatest strikers englands ever had
What a nonsense narrative, i agree his play might not be so great. But hes making runs, agressive and most importantly scores. What more do you expect from a striker? Hes doing the most already. Look at Onnana sure he can pass but he cant save, the main thing for a GK is to save a main for a ST is to score
@@umarrazviOnana has a 72% save percentage, which is 3rd in the league. He has 4.8 goals prevented, which is also 3rd in the league. Stop the agenda with Onana, he's been brilliant this season.
Haaland will be back and stronger this time. Calling him a league 2 player is a disgrace. You dont even know city's playstyle or their tactics. He will grow and destroy the competition. Hes only 23..
Good for him. He's not selfish like some others. He wants his team to win. But it was crazy to think that he could equal or much less surpass Messi and win the Ballon d'or last year. He's too inconsistent and he's just a goal scorer, important yes, but he needs to be fed. It KDB or s.o. else isn't there to feed him, he doesn't do anything. Also one defender can stop him.
Everyone is fucking HYPING Cole Palmer, but Haaland who has 1 goal more is worse. Haaland who's most likely to win 2 of the best "ENGLISH" Trophies (FA and EPL) this season is being called a man at the level league 2 player. Someone has to put Roy Keane in the cell Ronaldinho was in. He took Alcohol with Jamie Carragher yesterday. Wtf is he saying? AND I'M AN ARSENAL FAN. What does he have to say about Havertz or Saka then? I know he's not calling Odegard a Vanarama national league player 😤or I'm going to get a red card for attacking this man just like he did.
Needs to be freed from the shackles of Pep's system. He was so much more expressive at BVB. He looks to have regressed even though he's scoring record numbers of goals
Even if he “disappears” hes still drawing the attention of the oppositions best defender. Kai havertz did a similar role for arsenal before he started putting them away. A great striker is dangerous with or without the ball
haaland is doing what they brought him in to do, score goals. i would take hm over anyone. he will get even better. scoring like he does in the premier league is nuts.
This is some good content, I was actually baffled when I saw this channel has only a few vids. Keep it up mate, you're going to the moon with this kinda quality!
he has stuff he needs to work on sure... But he is still only 23. He has time he needs to stop relying on the teams performance to play good. But he should be improving in time
He's the best in the world at what he does, and absolutely ordinary at everything else. But it's his hunger and drive over other strikers his size that makes him stand out.
The thing is, he was brought in to score goals, and he's done that. 84 goals in less than 2 seasons is disgusting. Who cares that he can't pass like De Bruyne or dribble like Messi? He helped City win the treble last season and they're on their way to win a domestic double this season. He's scored 21 goals so far in the Premier League this season. Roy Keane is right about a lot of stuff but he's massively exaggertaing, and while I agree that Haaland has weaknesses in his game which Mbappe doesn't have, Mbappe also doesn't have Kanes' or Haaland's physicality, and Kane doesn't have Haaland's or Mbappe's speed.
It's like this is the first time people have seen a pure striker... Almost all of the things people say about Haaland can be applied to most of the best strikers of all-time.
Pep seemed to focus differently this year. Doku addition on the left side, he wants to score goal, where Grelish would try to cross. In addition Foden became a top notch player and Kevin D missing many games too. DeBruyne was the key to Haaland scoring a year ago. It seems to be a weird discussion, what time won't take him. Brits need something to bitch about...
He had a tough injury this year and is still going to win the prem golden boot? What does he have to do score 45 next season? Come on he’ll be the fastest to 100 league goals surely
I saw all his early games and city. I think he came in really reckless and scared a few defenders. I remember he took out 2 keepers in his first 3 games. After that I think everyone was just too scared to defend vs him
Not surprised by the critism and language, the English League can hardly celebrate quality to its abilities and rather its shortcomings. Regardlessn Haaland has dominated The EPL and he's an asset to any team he would play for. Very few strikers could start ahead of him in Europes top teams.
Even if he scores 5000 goals (playing the way he does) there's no danger of him becoming the best player ever. People probably don't think that football today heavily favours attackers (defenders can't tackle). Imagine r9 or van nistlerooy or batistuta or romario today the goals would uncountable. I'd take haaland over mbappe but mbappe pisses over haaland as a player. I can't stand his attitude though.
It's not true that he can't hold the ball. He can dribble (for the standards of his height and physique), make passes, hold the ball etc. Just look at his time at Dortmund. It's Pep that doesn't want him to receive the ball. In fact, he doesn't lose the ball often if not at all. Because he doesn't receive any passes at all. Most games he will end up with less than 10 touches. He is getti'g criticized for something he doesn't even have the opportunity to do. For the few passes he has received he actually shows he can do a decent job. His hold up play is not comparable to the likes of Drogba or Giroud but still ok.
His defensive work and off the ball work rate don’t seem great, but he seems to be at the right place at the right time so maybe it’s just me I don’t know.
Haaland is not a technical player. If you're judging a lighting fast 6'6 200lb striker by his dribbling skills then sure he's league 2. As an effective footballer he's one of the best.
Keanes view on Haaland is sadly biased due to his experiences with Haalands dad. Haaland essentially removes 2 defenders from any back line, he's a menace even when he's not had a touch, he opens up the game for the rest of the team which is why Man City gets goals from everywhere. He has his moments though, like yesterday where he'll just bang 4 in and shut people up for a few weeks. Comparing him and Mbappe is absolutely stupid because they are completely different players.
After his first game and miss against Liverpool, no one said anything. Nunez played well and scored and also nothing. First time Nunez missed, media were at it. Haaland is great goal scorer, yes. But Nunez is also, it is just the media boosting and destroying confidence in players. Thing I don't like with Haaland is too many tap ins...yes it is strikers job but seeing him controlling the ball and dribbling is not for the level he is at.
He is the nr1 scorer in premier legue right now he has 21 goal 5 asists and 11 goals and 2 assists in champions league how is he a league 2 player? 33 goals and 7 assists in total
This video is clearly appealing to his fans tbh, if anyone tells me he's the worlds best or arguing he deserves to even be on the talk as best, that person is delusional af. He just scores, he doesn't dribble, outsmarts or make any outstanding shit. Be real, people, HK and the ninja turtle are way above him AT THE MOMENT, no questions about it.
Erling Haaland really is an anomaly. Do I think he’s an incredible player? Yes. Do I think he can pass, make a first touch or dribble anywhere near world class level? No. It really doesn’t make much sense, but he gets goals and that’s what wins games, I guess. From a United and Barca fan.
