I've been watching MKBHD videos for so long, that I find myself using "golf bag" as a unit of measurement. Only problem, I've never seen a golf bag in real life.
@@JakeobEit's just another room in your house lol. Add insulation in the walls and an insulated garage door and the difference in your heat bill is negligible
@@Antrikshy As a Porsche 911 owner the news travels when a "well known" person falls in love and buys a 911. Anyway, he recently received his allocation then delivery of a 992 911 Turbo S. So he did buy one of the cars he reviewed, but not every single one obviously that'd be ridiculous.
07:03 "I'll put the celsius conversion up there" Literally forgets to put it the one time he said he would, and did put at other times haha, great video!
Happy New Year and thank you for all your reviews this year - consistently always to a very high standard on all your channels. I do hope you do a review of the new petrol powered beasty that joined your garage recently (belated Happy Birthday), as it’s my favourite car!
MKBHD love your Auto Focus video, finally testing all cars not just EV 😉. Can't wait for more this year. And hopefully you and your team come to Europe this year visiting Rimac Factory, test some EU only cars,.... Keep up with great work and greetings from sLOVEnia 😍
Keep up the good work, electrification is so vast and intriguing. There can be so many configurations that electric and hybrids cars can do that make it stunning. They made the space for the electric motor systems on the C8 since the beginning the space is in the gas cars too, Integrated in the chassis. Awesome cars all the way through!!!!!
This seems like a very cool car. Kudos to Chevy for continuing to make cool hybrids and PHEVs as many consumers still aren’t comfortable with a transition to full EVs and a fun hybrid is a great transition point. Also the stealth mode and recharge features are pretty badas$. Thanks for the great review as always! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Im on a list and hopefully be able to order in a a month or 2. I know there is so much love for the Z06, but for me E-ray beats it in so many ways. Easley, 11K difference, (lower msrp, included ceramic brakes , no GG tax, etc). Faster all the way past 1/4mi. More consistent, AWD and safer in bad weather. Still can handle track duties good. You will save allot of $$ on gas. might be able to get yourself out of trouble if the main engine is down or other issues. Battery has an 8 year warranty and should not cost much to replace if needed. Lots of good things.
Not meaning any disrespect, but where do you work and how much do you earn? It seems strange that someone who types with so many grammatical errors would be able to afford this car
@@real.ilya_remov So you look at people driving expensive cars, like massive SUVs and always think "there goes a really clever person, they must be really good at spelling"?
@@real.ilya_removyou must have a brain the size of a peanut. I’m a high school drop out, wasn’t born in America, speak 3 languages. Opened two businesses. Purchased a new gtr, new c7 z06, new c8 stingray, ordered a c8 z06 and in line for a c8 Eray. I will most likely purchase the c8 zr1 as well. You can either be school smart or street smart. I’ll choose street smart every time. Most college students end up working for some company making less than 6 figures a year. While many drop outs these days make 6 to 7 figures per year. You may out smart me in a class room, but I’ll out smart you in the real world. The fact that you’re asking how he can afford that kind of car tells me that you can’t even afford a Chevy. Which is dirt cheap entry level supercar or high end sports car which ever way you want claim it. You say you’re not trying to be offensive but that was clearly you trying to be offensive. Let me know if I had any grammar issues as well, but in end I’ll still be driving what MOST people with bachelor degrees won’t able to afford. License plate “DropOut”

Their financial success/ability is separate from their ability to write a grammatically-sound comment at a place as casual as RU-vid. I'd argue it's much more likely than not that they're perfectly capable of writing something better if you put them in a more serious environment.
@@real.ilya_remov Everybody knows it's older guys buying Corvettes. How good is your uncle or grandfather at typing? My brother in Christ, he's buying a wicked cool car and you're pointing out minor oversights! Give y'er head a shake, man
Very good review of this amazing Corvette variant. I want one, try getting it if you're an average Joe like me. Eager buyers waited in line at certain large Corvette dealerships months ago just to get on the list with a $4k downpayment (no dealer near me seemed to take orders); these buyers are just now starting to get them. So I think this car is out for me for now, but I absolutely would love this Corvette up here in Philadelphia, where winters can get a little snowy. Oh, hate that damn square steering wheel btw!
I have been watching your videos for over 10 years at this point, and this must be the first time I see you convert to the metric system! As a European, I applaud you and thank you big time, but I don't understand why it had to take so long 😅
@@Dhagobacayr74 true. I mean, I like his opinions on tech, but he can’t really evaluate a car as a car. He can only evaluate a car as a device. Which makes sense for him; that’s all he knows how to do, but still
I am a Toyota hybrid/EV certified technician. Consider me biased, but I would absolutely take the ERay every.single.time. Hybrid-electric assisted powertrains are the future.
I've driven a few of these at work. They are definitely nice. But depends on how much your looking for a Well built and sturdy car. I feel as these jeeps kinda have a noisey and somewhat loose or improper built build quality to them. But still they seem like a really decent car. I don't however think it would be a choice had I been wanting something from that category.
It sounds like every other C8, including mine, because it has the same LT2 engine and the performance exhaust. The Z06 has an even better sound, with its flat-plane crank 5.5L LT6 engine.
@@BingBangBrineI mean it is subjective lol to me I like the lt2s raspy v8 sound better than the flat-plane but doesn’t mean everyone else has to agree
it serves exactly its purpose... (like for any other mild electrified sports car). The idea is really just to not wake up all your neighbors before a nice weekend trip
@@MHWGamerRight, but the limitations on doing it in cold weather? When cold starts are some of the loudest for V8s like this? Hopefully something they can tweak with a software update - useful feature just nerfed.
@@CerebroJDi mean barely anyone is driving a car like this in the winter let alone owning one in a a place that's that cold for long periods of time. Doesn't seem like a issues.
@@CerebroJDyeah sure you can drive these cars year round but they knew the majority of buyers are only taking this out in the spring/summer or live in warm places
hahahahaha I like how you're dropping subtle hints to your purchase of Porsche 992 Turbo S. Can't wait for your review on it. Also congratulations on your Porsche 992 Turbo S.
I'm guessing you can't go into stealth mode when it's cold out because the engine will need to warm up. You wouldn't want to just fire it up and start driving at what ever speed you're cruising at. My question is, what if you were already driving around earlier and the engine is up to temp, can you then use stealth mode in the cold? Would be neat to see.
Deleted my previous comment after getting the context. It seems a bit strange that it would be so strict, given the state of modern precision manufacturing. The ICE should not need much warm-up time. But given that it doesn't allow you to switch into stealth mode while driving, I'm guessing that they didn't want to complicate the software and/or the user manual.
@@wnoyes1100This seems plausible, but 50 degrees shouldn't be much of a problem. It would make more sense to disable stealth mode based on the state of the battery, which could include temperature, but also health and charge %
Ty for the review, I also wanted know with it being a mid engine , how does ride suspension feel on this vehicle, is it still firm or can you adjust it like in touring mode? 10:34
This takes the second gen NSX to the next level by using a V8 over a twin turbo V6. Still though, the second gen NSX's drivetrain was ahead of its time for a car under $200K.
It's good to finally see a Non Car Guy review the C8. In answer to the which model, I'd prefer- the ERAY although I don't like the wide body. I wish that there was an ERAY the width of the regular C8 Stingray.
I think the reasoning behind the not letting stealth mode happen under 50 degrees is because of the engine needing to warm up to rev match properly with the electric motor
Which is interesting, given that if you are using stealth mode you're going to be pulling away slowly anyways. Seems like a better implementation then would be to warn that the switch will take longer than usual. I'd imagine it's more to do with the tiny battery supplying quite a bit of current to run the still pretty powerful motor, and batteries don't like being put under high load when cold, just like engines. Strange that there isn't an option to pre-start or something and warm up the battery for a few minutes first.
Yo, Marques actually reads the comments. I remember a guy commenting on the Tesla Cybertruck's video and he requested for him to put international SI units other than American. Here I am watching him put them in. Small things. Thanks Mkb
chevy has had a issue with the winter weather in most vehicles they make , for whatever reason on the small gassers its worthwhile to lockout 6th gear in the winter to keep the engine warm and intercooler from freezing creating terrible gas milage and a loud car in the winter for next to no reason since it was easier in software than to make a different part for the intercooler
You need to get your hands on the Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered because it has the same hybrid setup. The ICE only does FWD and the electric motor powers the RWD.
Surprised by how in depth Marcus went. I didn't expect this level of detail (and knowledge) from his background in the tech industry I'm used to seeing. Bravo.
This will probably be quite limited.. meaning we might see the same issues we do with other sports car hybrids that are now pushing 10 years or older. Getting parts for the special made battery packs etc. is often really difficult. One example is the LaFerrari hypercar.. many of them are stuck in place waiting for parts for a year or more whenever something happens to the electrics. Regular EVs and hybrids do not have this problem.. but cars that are less popular often suffer from this in the long run, with no one making the parts anymore. I see it as a risky move to go hybrid on a car like this.. either it should be full on EV, or gas, not something in between… it is literally always the worst of two worlds. More things can go wrong, heavier and usually less efficient unless you charge it up every day from a wall charger.. and often also limited parts meaning long service times.
Went out and bought an EV shortly after my Prius' head gasket went. And there I was thinking about the Prius' battery being the likely first failure point the whole time I owned it. Anyway, no head gasket worries now!
@@1dameister1 A bit low for what purpose? This car hits 60 in 2.5 seconds. The electric motor does exactly what they wanted it to do. This is not an EV.
The benefit I see how chevy did this is that the two systems ARENT connected at all mechanically. So the ICE should be as easy to service as a normal C8.
I think the future of sports cars will be an engine that can generate a little more power than the car would use with average racing and then a super capacitor with a couple dozen kWh and speed will be determined by how fast the motors and battery can be cooled
