Poor GREENFIELD,,,ive just GOT over covid and FUCK ME,,,it is the most horrible....I cannot explain...chest felt like an elephant sat on it RESPECT TO A BRILLIANT,,BRILLIANT MAN,,,DAVE GREENFIELD!!!!!!!! KING OF THE KEYBOARDISTS
1983 was the first time I saw The Stranglers at the Reading Festival when I was 16 ....best band of the weekend easily. Who wants the world? with the way things are going we need themeninblack to return to Earth and save us!
I can remember taping this on my Ferguson Videostar!. Absolutely fantastic performance especially JJ's solo on MSD into European female . My favourite Stranglers TV appearance. Great memories.
3 great versions of 3 grest songs , j j in great form as is hughs vocals and dint forget daves massive swelling organ and jets drumming , my favourite band for 50 years ,love them to bits then and now
Just found this, after learning of the passing of Jet Black on 6/12/22. Not their banging early style I fell for but I still appreciate it - it's live and shows the original line-up - the best. JJ is looking v. hot..
That day, the other band was Sudden Death Cult. The final band was a local outfit called Dance Class. My brother, Squaddie and myself, Monkey did their PA rig. They were a total joy, top boys to work with. Times were splendid back then. Lots of love to all the bonnie lads and lasses. 😊♥️😊♥️
The 'Golden Brown' tour would have been before this ('82) & after the brief 'La Folie ' gigs in November '81... For some reason they cancelled a couple of gigs at the Hammersmith Odeon ... ' SUDDEN death cult ' sounds quite good ... I think they dropped the 'Southern' quite early on...after the indie hits 'fatman' , 'spirit walker ' ...?
@@vacuumelite2065you’ve nothing to apologise for . Everyone knew who you meant . Proper Bradford people from the 80’s didn’t speak proper English Anyway . Now they speak something totally different. So yeh . Let’s hear it from Ian and the Bradford Suddens 🍺
This is a perfect example of why you should pack it in after your lead singer leaves. You can replace Hugh. It just isn't right. Great guitarist too. Remember the band this way.
@@terrybiddle6189 Nope. I enjoy the clarity of Hugh's voice and his guitar style. Right down to the way he holds it like a weapon. I find myself holding the guitar the same way. Not trying to imitate him. It's easier for me. Plus Hugh is highly intellectual in interviews.
I have seen so many bands starting with British invasion through till now and this is absolutely my favourite live band I've ever seen. And we are talking who, kinks, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy Dire Straits etc etc etc. Literally hundreds more. the who's who of music and this was the best.
So kick of your shoes and relax your feet and freak to the rythym of the stranglers beat... From the Ridicilous to the Stranglers at there sublime best..
Super intro, mais moi j'aurais été Dave j'aurai fait faire un chouette dessin sur la bâche a clavier ... ou une pin up ... note qu'en 83 ça lui donne un côté Dracula au clavier ; dans l'air du temps mmh ?
Balls . They should have been done under the trades description act . If they had to change so radically they should have changed their name instead of shitting on their legacy with this load of old pants . This makes the Smiths look like Motorhead.
@@jimmytgoose476 Nothing wrong with " Who Wants The World " Great song from the Raven, era 79-80 . Should have been bigger hit than it was . As for the other two ? Definetley the weakest tracks for me on Feeline album.
Does anyone know what month this was broadcast as I would normally watch 'The Tube' but have no recollection of this appearance so I might have been on holiday.
@@TravisBickle1963 Cheers for that , I have a great memory and can go back to things I did when I was 4 but cannot remember this when I was 17. I would have been in the 6th form at school. I must have just had a sudden blackout as I used to watch this whenever it was on. I remember the later episode in 1984 when they played live and did 'Let Me Down Easy', 'No Mercy' and 'Uptown' and still have it on a VHS tape somewhere.
The country on its arse skint ….but the music was great and the Stranglers from 77 onwards a class act ….forward 2024 the country again in a mire unrecognisable with all the inflicted change ….put upon us and the Stranglers still doing it a class act .
