He could have just said he was getting better. It's not uncommon to walk only short distances (like to the bathroom), while still spending most of your time in the wheel chair during recovery.
Exactly. If any of that story is true, which I highly doubt, then he should have told his fans. There's literally no reason not to do so other than wanting more money.
What really sucks about this situation is that often times people who need/use wheelchairs can actually stand and walk for short periods of time, it’s just that it’s extremely painful. It just fuels more disbelief and ableism towards other people in wheelchairs who actually need it
You think maybe we should get someone else to type up this same exact comment 37 or 38 more times? I don't think I understand after reading the last 49 comments saying the same thing.
Imagine following him from start, laughing along with him, seeing the bright in his heart despite the horrible and unfair disability life has given him. And then he walks away
If he hadn’t immediately tried covering it up and lying about falling, things might have worked out better for him, tbh. Like, he should have come clean about his recovery from the start of the drama, and apologized for misleading his audience about the nature of his temporary disability. If he had said “I’ve actually been recovering for a while and am less dependent on my wheelchair than I was. I should have mentioned it to you guys before, and I’m sorry to have misled you” (or something along those lines), I’m sure he would have gotten SO MUCH more respect from everyone watching. I believe he’s telling the truth about it in the interview he did with Wavy, but lying about it when it happened was a terrible move on his part, and I hope he’s learned from the backlash.
Right? I have a few friends who can walk a little, but have to use a wheelchair to get any good distance. Glad he got caught though, wouldn't want him to scam more people out of their sympathy money.
I'm not defending this guy specifically, but I will say that there are plenty of people who can walk but require wheel chairs as mobility aids rather than their only way if getting around. So just the fact someone is a wheel chair user but is able to get up and walk away doesn't directly mean they don't need the wheel chair. Again though, I'm not defending this guy specifically, I'm just saying that this is a thing that happens and exists
Yeah. I sold wheel chairs and other medical equipment for a while and it’s more common for people to be partially dependent on a chair than totally connected at all times. It may not be like that everywhere but for my company it certainly was.
This !!! Exactly what I said. Not everyone is fully unable to walk. There are diseases and such that could make someone pass out and put them in danger. The person in this vid tho clearly was faking tho sine he didn’t state why he was in there
I think it's important to point out not everyone with a wheelchair is completely unable to walk. Some can walk but only short distances or walking is painful. That being said, if this was the case, he probably wouldn't have lied about it saying he "fell." That was very obviously not a fall.
Yes, there are chronic and invisible illnesses that mean some people with said illness can walk but get tired and/or sore easier. Can also be days where said person can stand and walk around just fine, though it depends on the person, illness, conditions or severity.. He didn't fall you could see in his body language the way he faces to stand up, and that the chair doesn't move that much. You'd then hear a "thump" if he fell 😔 Wish people weren't like this -Edit, because I realised there's no audio (that's why there's no thump, lmao I had a dumb moment) However upon closer inspection, if you look at 3:09 in the fishtank you can see he walks off and doesn't fall over once, very steadily walked out of frame. My Apologies!
All he had to do was periodically explain to his viewers that he was undergoing physical therapy and he was slowly regaining use of his legs. Then he could have made getting out of his chair a big announcement.
the way he just naturally gets out of that wheelchair will never not be fucking hilarious to me. imagine being a longtime follower and fan of that guy and witnessing that moment live. What do you feel in that moment?
Shame and embarrassment at being duped, leading them to scream that "sometimes people in wheelchairs can walk sometimes! Ableist! Ableist!" In the comments of videos about it.
@@adam_stanheight Yeah but no one said that, ever. No one said that in the video that charlie watched, nor did he say it, nor are any comments saying it. The only people saying it are the people screeching and crying about how it's "albeist to think that people in wheelchairs cannot stand or walk". Literally no one else is saying that. You guys are seething and coping into the void for no reason.
@@giovannijj3408 this is not me trying to be rude or anything, I swear. But you may want to know that the word usage would be “I could not care less” not “I can/could” because saying you COULD care less denotes that you do indeed care.
His disability was real. He was in the chair for 2 years. I believe he was using his disability for money and didn't want people to know he was capable of walking or did physical therapy. His biggest reget was not telling people about his condition. He overall just made his situations look really bad
I hate stuff like this, it perpetuates the idea that only people who have no function over their lower body ever need to use wheelchairs, and everyone else is faking. I often use a wheelchair, but I have full function over my legs, it's because I pass out when I stand up for too long. So many people think I fake because I can stand up, as long as I know I'm going to be walking a short distance and sit down again soon. It's so embarrassing to be harassed in public over it.
When I messed up my Achilles tendon I had to use crutches for awhile and could walk occasionally on it for a limited time. A girl in school made me out to be a liar because of that and said I was faking. I called her out in class and blessed her out and she stfu after crying about me hurting her. Like sorry not sorry you made me out to be something I wasn't.
Totally. I sometimes use a walker even though I wan walk fine--it's for a vision issue where my eyes sometimes read right as being straight ahead. I've walked into the street before because of that so the walker is there so I can literally slam on the breaks. And whenever someone who knows I use one sees me without it I'm always worried that they'll accuse me of faking it (though realistically if they tried I could just explain it to them but you know how people are)
@@donermonster2426 He was walking perfectly fine by the time he got caught on twitch. I don't doubt he was in a car accident and wasn't able to walk for about a year or so, but by the time he got caught on Twitch he was walking perfectly fine. He withheld information to continue to milk donations off gullible idiots with their parents credit cards.
just a reminder that just bc someone is in a wheelchair doesnt mean they cant walk or stand! plenty of people use a wheelchair bc it hurts to stand, can only stand for a limited time, or their walking is "messed up" and need assistance. and in this case, can also be slowly recovering from an accident but still needing an aid bc the legs have not been fully recovered yet.
I always feel so self-conscious simply crossing my legs when I’m in my wheelchair. I feel like people glare at me when I do that. Wheelchairs aren’t just for people who can’t walk!
I love how many comments are sharing that just because you use a wheelchair, it doesn't mean that your legs are completely nonfunctional. Sharing this kind of information keeps our friends with mobility aids safer.
I'm sure he was legitimately in the wheel chair for years as there'd be no reason to fake it prior to streaming. But he found out that people would donate to him because of the chair and wanted to make some money while only technically lying by omission. He knew what he was doing.
Why didn't he just say he has a disability that doesn't make him paralysed, but he's in a lot of pain and needs the chair usually bc it's to painful to walk. But that one time he chose to walk to the bathroom. It would've been way more believable, if you're gonna lie at least be good at ir
He probably didn't plan for a scenario like that to play out, where he accidentally stood up on stream, odds are he assumed he would never make such a stupid mistake. And most likely 98% of the time he was hyper aware that he must stay glued to his chair. But after streaming every day with all the repetition, he finally slipped up and without even thinking about it stood up and walked away. Then at that moment he was panicking and couldn't think up a good lie on the spot, he had to think of something right then and there while his chat was freaking out and he couldn't come up with something fast enough. The "oh yeah I'm not completely paralyzed, it just really hurts, but I can stand if I really need to!", which goes against everything his chat believed because they thought he was paralyzed from the waist down, not just in a lot of pain and capable of walking. Hindsight is 20/20.
It was a lie of omission. He never explicitly said he was completely reliant on the wheelchair but at the same time would stream while visibly sitting in a wheelchair. I honestly don’t know what to think since on one hand he should’ve made some mention that he was likely to recover from being wheelchair bound but on the other hand I can see why he didn’t mention it since internet strangers are not entitled to your medical history.
@Clu Rosencrans Yes he did lie. He said he fell out of his chair when you see him walking away fine in the reflection. That whole cover up story was bull crap.
I remembered watching this in Twitch fail compilation couple years ago, can't say I care that much about the wheelchair guy but the excuse he gave honestly not good at all
Clearly the dog spilled water in the wires and then he got electrocuted, so his nerves got stiff and he just naturally stood up... and then went to the bathroom to take advantage of the circumstances.
the fact that he was walking when using a wheelchair isnt the problem. lots of people who use wheelchairs aren't completely wheelchair bound. but its obvious he's faking it with how he tried to cover it up and lied abt it lol
My guy, he was in a wheelchair long before the video. Look at wavywebsurf's vid. Man interviewed him and let him explain his side. Not as obvious as it seems.
@@WelNep im not talking abt that, i'm talking about how when he got "discovered", he started lying and trying to claim this and that, knowingly misleading people into thinking it was a more permenant disability and then trying to cover that up. he was taking advantage of an injury for the clout of being "disabled" and he wasnt ready to let that go.
@@witheraway.6562 Iets be honest here no matter what he said or did no ody was gunna believe him before he got the ban since that shit happened like a day later
Yep we got the picture not everyone who uses a wheelchair is unable to walk u don’t have to write it down again after the other 250 people who have already explained it in this comment feed….
@@WelNep no the guy didnt lie I suppose, he just realized that if he didnt mention that he was recovering, he would make way more money : D. Imagine what would happen to Nicado Avacado's channel if he recovered and lost 200 lbs?
It's sad because apparently he wasn't lying the whole time, he just failed to update his community with news of his improvement. Why, tho??? People love a good recovery story! He would have been more popular than ever! And the fact that he tried to gaslight his community afterwards, too... I feel sorry for him, but it's understandable why things happened the way that they did. :(
There's a piece of this story that all the comments are missing, or only addressing half of the controversy. While it is true that there are disabled people who do not need a wheelchair at all times, and may need it for assistance for certain tasks or to make mobility easier, the issue is that he blatantly hid his recovery process for monetary gain. Money was pouring in through donations and subscriptions, and it was the crux of the growth of his channel. His girlfriend was in on the scheme as well. Why lie about falling? Why did the girlfriend make up a blatantly fabricated story to distract from the "miraculous" walking? The issue is not that he forgot to update his viewers. It's the intent behind it. Lying by omission is still lying. And using this facade for monetary gain is immoral.
Exactly. And when you say "all of the comments" you're hardly exaggerating, almost every comment is something along the lines of "some people in wheelchairs can walk". Who are these people who think "It's been said in 600 other comments but let ME shed light on the situation by saying the same thing"
How would she notice when there's stream delay Also I think there should be more consideration into whether or not he was actually lying by omission or if he was just exercising his right to maintain privacy, there are many things in life that we have no obligation to tell other people about no matter how curious they are about it
@@PrincessMeganLeigh It doesn't need stating hundreds of times IN THE SAME COMMENT SECTION. Nobody is missing 50 comments saying the same thing then understanding the message when they read it for the 51st time.
I love how "not all wheelchairbound disabilites are a complete inability to walk," is both a true statement, and a very valid potential defense/explanation for both him and the people defending it. But nope. Had to go for the "well, what you saw isnt actually what you think you saw," bs. XP
He’s most definitely not. I can bet you there are a bunch of smaller streamers trying to fake things like tics and other disabilities to try and gain followers out of pity. Especially with TikTok’s influence of kids who did that exact thing to begin with
Doubling down was the stupidest thing he could've done. Could've just said "we had a whole thing planned and didn't want to reveal it", not take the 3rd grade approach if blaming the dog
He did own up to it afterwards, he said it was wrong to not keep his viewers updated on his medical condition. It was grimey to stay in the chair when he didn’t need it all the time anymore but it’s not as clean cut as people make it out to be. IMO, him trying to lie directly after the footage was the worst part. Just come clean immediately and maybe it wouldn’t of been as bad.
@@uiu820 that’s what I’m saying bud. It’s not clean cut. He did admit to being wrong in the case of this video. You should check out Sunny’s video in full, it really shows the story well and gets this guys side of the story from his own mouth.
Not once did he apologize for scamming his viewers. He said there were certain things, he wishes he could have done differently. That's not an apology to all the people he let down.
He literally could have just said he can stand for short periods of time or he has pain when he stands and that would make sense, but instead he went with the dog excuse
Imagine if he was actually honest about it. "Look what I've been working towards offstream with rehab/physio." Would've went down as one of the most wholesome moments on Twitch.
My uncle was in car crash and was in wheelchair for 2 and half years. Even then he got healed, he still moved in wheelchair, because he get used to it and it was Hard to start walking again.
I’m partially wheelchair bound due to chronic pain. Most days I walk around the house with a stick and use the chair for going outside, but I have found that in my scenario (which obviously isn’t everyone’s) that I have a hard time sitting up in a chair for a while except in my wheelchair due to the footrests. Most people assume if you’re in a chair you can’t walk, and are often surprised when I step out of it for a moment to get over a large step. He doesn’t deserve any hate, he just forgot to clarify his situation which he may have in a previous stream but it gets exhausting repeating yourself over and over about your physical disabilities and limitations
I get this view on the situation but if this was all true why tilt the camera down and lie and say he fell over? If he was being transparent about not being fully wheelchair bound why not make it a reveal about how much progress he's made like it doesn't make any sense to lie for no reason unless he's pretending to be fully paralysed
IM NOT DEFENDING THIS GUY AT ALL (i havent even watched the video yet) but please remember that NOT ALL WHEELCHAIR USERS ARE PARALYSED. Some have use of their legs and only use the chair sometimes. Some can walk short distances. Some only use them when their symptoms are bad. Please don't always assume that because someone is in a wheelchair = they cant use their legs at all.
@@eggchomp I know. Thats exactly why i said "I get ur point". And as he talked about him before watching the vid i presumed he already knew what happend
I'm gonna offer some insight here, as a disabled individual, by first stating that I'm not really upset at what he did. As someone who has a physical disability that does sometimes let me walk without my assistance tools or do things differently on some days than others, I can understand the need to just tell people that you... just use a wheelchair. Not "I sometimes do", etc. It sounds crazy, but there is like this... stigma that people don't talk about when it comes to physical disabilities. People see someone in a wheelchair and don't think "Oh I wonder if they use it all the time". People see that person in a wheelchair and it's just accepted that that's how it should be. I felt so embarrassed with it at first, I would never tell people that I didn't need it all the time, otherwise I was scared people would just assume I was faking it or over-exaggerating my symptoms to garner sympathy, because sadly that IS reality and that DOES happen. My brother to this day believes I just exaggerate my symptoms because I appear "normal" and that I can sometimes get around fine. I'm not saying what he did was right, because he was advocating for disabled individuals in the streaming scene while not being honest and having an open dialogue with his community. But I am saying I can understand why he wouldn't.
Don't defend anything he did. He was recoverd fully by the time he did streaming. Did no one pay attention to the video. Obviously he wasn't in pain anymore I've seen people that can slightly walk and it looks painful he clearly was not. He milked money out of sympathy and could have gone to someone who actually needed it.
@@empath9814 Not all wheelchair users are in debilitating pain every time they get up and walk around. Some would have no pain, they would just be too weak to move around all the time without a wheelchair. You assuming that him getting up and travelling a short distance must mean that he was fully recovered is actually fucking stupid.
He could have easily played it off if he said something like "I've been doing physical therapy a couple times a week and have gotten to the point where I can walk short distances"
Usually I like SunnyV2 I'm just surprised that in this instance he didn't do his research. WavyWebSurf covered this way back but then he did a follow up on some new evidence of his innocence and then does an interview with the formerly disabled streamer and he makes a pretty good case for himself.
this reminds me of a funny story myself. I went to a zoo with my family and my mums friend + kids and one of them is autistic and will be wheeled around in a wheelchair just so he doesnt run around and hurt himself or something like that. he's perfectly able to walk. I was wheeling him around and he just randomly gets up and goes and runs to something, and there was this asian family in front of us and i just yell out "OH MY GOD ITS A MIRACLE, HE CAN STAND" and this poor family look so dumbfounded thinking this wheelchair bound kid just suddenly was able to walk and run again. Has to be one of the funniest things ive ever done
I worked in pain management and abuse of disability is out of control. I constantly saw people with "disability " and I am using that very loosely, that were clearly able to work,. Workman's comp was the worst as we would have people pull in to parking lot, jump out of car just fine, the proceed to grab a neck brace, Kane or walker and all of the sudden become virtually immobile before walking through the door, went from obvious joking and laughing to extreme immovable pain....just disgusting. I would have to say more than half or our patients claiming disability were full of shit.
Im uncomfortable with all of these able bodied people weighing in on how disabled people should use a wheelchair. We are not “wheelchair bound” as a lot of people have been commenting here,it is an extension of oneself. Plus, some wheelchair users are able to stand up and walk from time to time and still need a wheelchair. It’s really disappointing to see the guy react the way he did, he should of just said he was getting better or something
he came out later and said he was in car accident and needed the wheelchair for awhile. he was never paralyzed, he just started streaming since he was stuck in a wheelchair for however long he needed it.
If they ever reinstated his account I can't begin to imagine the barrage of comments he'd get everytime he got up to do anything. Assuming anyone would be willing to watch him, that is.
If I recall correctly, he did address the lying about falling out of the wheelchair, I think he said he was slowly building back up to no longer needing the wheelchair and got scared about how him standing up would be percieved, so he panicked and lied.
Well he did an interview with Wavy Web Surf if your interested, he makes a pretty good case of how its a big misunderstanding and alot of the facts that most people know are kind of wrong.
the thing with wheelchair usage is that he may have been partially dependent for awhile, being able to walk short distances but still needing it for longer distances, but he should have just explained the situation. Lots of disabled ppl who depend on wheelchairs part time/during certain flair ups do get harrassed for seeming "fake" and I feel like this is a weird situation that could have been solved by him explaining from the beginning that his fulltime wheelchair usage wasn't permanent/he was working on recovering. Overall a shitty situation, wish he wouldn't have lied.
I wouldn’t say faked, maybe he “lied” by omission and there can still be invisible aspects to/stuff people want private about their body condition, but the demand of disability status to be open to public opinion rather than left to medical professionals can get pretty gross imo.
I mean some people can still walk in a wheelchair but it can be incredibly painful. My legs are in agony every step I take after leg day and makes me want to just stay in bed till they recover, I can only imagine actual injury.
Not all wheelchair users are fully unable to walk or use their wheelchair all the time and I don’t understand why random strangers feel entitled to the details of a disabled person’s condition. It gives getting angry at a person for putting their car in the reserved parking spot because they don’t “look disabled” energy. Edit: I don’t think able bodied people should be the ones judging who’s faking a disability or not unless you’re specifically that person’s doctor. Actually no one else should. You don’t have all the details and no one is owed to explain them to you.
bruh right after the incident he was straight up lying telling people that he fell off the chair when he was clearly walking. There's giving benefit of the doubt to people and then there's being gullible.
Being in a wheelchair myself it's actually really sad how people can fake having a disability or over exaggerate it just to get attention / clout. This is why I have less faith in humanity
Omg smh, lose faith in humanity, and to be real it is VERY MUCH Likely that he did need a wheel chair for a certain amount of time, or he still used it, as it hurt to walk, or couldn’t do it for a long time. Now if he did fake it that’s fucked up, but shit like this is pretty common
@Clu Rosencrans I agree for the most part - except he’s a streamer. There’s a level of openness when it comes to physical injury that needs to be there, unless it’s specifically hidden from the camera. Obviously it would’ve been easy to say “Hey guys I’m in PT and able to walk a little bit,” but I don’t personally believe he was scamming or faking a disability, dude just didn’t think about it,
@Clu Rosencrans The dude got attention for being disabled and then forgot to tell his audience he is getting better? Nah he just blatantly lied to everyone and worsened the image of actualy disabled people.
@@hawgprint If its true then why lie about it. The dude clearly stood up straight as fuck and then pretended he fell? Then he pretends his dog made the screen fall after he fucked up. Come on...
