“You can feel bad for someone’s mental health while also condemning their actions” very well put Charlie Edit (6 months later): Well I never realized this comment would blow up so much (thank you btw) but it did and some time has passed so I thought I’d throw in my thoughts, especially because there is a lot of disagreement in the replies. Firstly, gambling addiction is very real. This shouldn’t even need to be clarified. The adrenaline, dopamine and endorphin highs you get from it are comparable to the highs from nicotine and heroin. Like many other mental health disorders, it is also literally hereditary. Addiction in general, and how prone individual people are to it largely runs in the family. With this, one’s ability to quit the addictive substance or lifestyle also varies greatly. Gambling is one of the most destructive disorders, both to the one inflicted by it and to his/her family and friends. It has one of the highest suicide rates of any disorder as well. Now, that’s out of the way. With that said, a disorder is by no means an excuse. He should face consequences. He probably deserves jail-time. That matter is more-so opinionated. But in reality, he needs rehabilitation more than anything. Addicts generally do have a certain degree of guilt they feel about their behavior. I’m sure especially when it has an impact on their personal relationships. I mean I’m sure there are exceptions- there are genuinely horrible people who don’t give a fuck about anyone or anything, that’s true. But in general, addicts are extremely shameful and live with much regret. Would Slicker had ever come forward to apologize, speak on his addiction, and right his wrongs if he had not been caught? Hell no. Most addicts never do. But if they ever do, most of the time it’s because they come to a point where they are forced to. A study published in Journal of Behavioral Addictions notes only up to 10% of all gambling addicts ever seek treatment. Compare that with the 10%-50% who seek help due to substance use disorders. I can link this in the replies if anyone wants. Yes, ultimately in the end an addict needs to have the self-motivation and discipline to truly get help. But most times they are too embarrassed and ashamed to come forward. That in itself I’m sure is a mental battle. His addiction is not an excuse, it doesn’t justify anything he did at all. Like I said, there should be consequences. Whether that be time in jail, paying back the money, or a combination of both is all up for debate. But rehabilitation is what he needs. Yes he’s a shitty person. Yes he should pay for what he did. I don’t think anyone is denying that. But unfortunately, this tends to be the end result for many many addicts. They are left devastated, broken, alone and helpless. A lot of times their family and friends are left the same. The thing is- they don’t need to be helpless. But, if anytime there is consequential behavior due to severe mental health conditions, disorders, addictions, etc. and the first thing we do is toss them in a jail cell to rot for life… I mean, we eliminate any opportunity to learn and study these things so that they can be treated, and more importantly prevented from ever happening in the first place. But of course, there are levels to this. A lot of times this addictive behavior only warrants help and treatment, and other times there most definitely should be consequences as well. This is probably one of those times. My original comment was by no means profound or groundbreaking. It should be common sense. But clearly it needed to be said based off the amount of disagreement there is. Anyways, that was long. I don’t really expect anyone to read all of this or even care. But that’s where I stand. Summary: gambling addiction is real. he needs to face consequences. he needs rehabilitation.
@@JohnDoe-ws4iu oh believe me I'm not justifying his behavior. My father was an alcoholic and turned to fentenaly, I know very well how adicts can tear you down to agree with them. You probably led those around you through hell but all that matters now is you're out of it while keeping true and repaying those debts. I won't give you sympathy but I know how hard it is to get off gambling or substances.
Same here dude. I’m usually the one paying for my friends and literally fighting over the bill to do so when we hang out. It’s so shocking that there’s greedy people like this
Not a gambling addict, but an addict in recovery here (11 years this October- woo!). Glad to see some compassion, and definitely important that Charlie mentioned that feeling bad for someone doesn't justify their actions or make it okay. It took the first... 7 years of my recovery to clean up the messes I'd made- and some of them were irreparable. And that accountability is constant and ongoing to avoid slipping back into active addiction. Hope this guy gets the help he needs and that his victims somehow get compensated.
I have a few years in recovery as well. There is a lot that I can never repair and I need to accept that it is my fault, and not beg for pity. Stay strong!
Do you guys not understand that there is ZERO PROOF about him actually being a gambling addict? Why do you suddenly all trust what that PoS says when he was lying for literal years beforehand? I just don't understand you people.
My mom has had a gambling addiction for over 40 years. She has tried multiple programs even the “hypno-therapy” route and has never been able to stop. It has almost caused my parents to divorce MULTIPLE times. My dad, at times, has had to put her on a “ daily allowance”, she still tries to borrow money from me and everyone else in her life. People don’t take gambling addiction seriously but it legit ruins lives, tears families apart and often leads to suicide.
@@JackYOgurl606 hopefully she's doing better. Thankfully my dad controls the bills so that's not a worry but I do know of gambling addicts that have lost their homes and everything. It's sad.
it must suck honestly, imagine donaying thousands of dollars to somebody who just loses it the next day, i feel horrible for those who tried to do a good thing
I think it's a good reminder for the viewers who lend him money. Streamers aren't your friends. They don't know you, you don't know them. They are just entertainer and that's it.

As a recovering heroin addict I feel really bad for this guy. He just hit bottom and has a lot to answer for. But life is so beautiful man, it’s so amazing what you can come back from. I just hope he doesn’t do anything stupid and stays safe. Life is a gift man.
Its good that you say that man, I used to struggle a lot with anger issues growing up, and on several instances ive actually been arrested multiple times, and there was one point where I thought being put away for sometime meant the end of everything, but life does get better, things do change eventually. Sometimes the waiting takes so long you just want to hurt again, but I found that life is too short and too precious to waste everything on people who will only end up hurting themselves so that you won't have to. And they'll keep hurting themselves until they finally learn their lesson, and recognize the pointlessness of it all, just like I did. Only took my 19 years of being alive for me to finally understand, but hey, at least I understand. It's been almost three years now since my last incident, and hopefully I won't get into a fight again. Not at the age I am now.
The worst was the cancer patient he scammed. The lady is on chemo and gave him a few thousand. He tried to get more and she told him that the money she had was for her chemo treatment, and he still tried to get it, telling her he could pay back before she went to her appointment. Scumbag
okay this is just really dumb of the woman, YOU FUCKING NEVER LEND MONEY OUT WHEN YOU CANT AFFORD IT, man rewatching this, makes me kinda glad the kids and dumb people more views who lent money and scammed learnt a lesson
Just a nugget of wisdom for any young people. NEVER loan out money that you aren't mentally accepting you will never get back. If you can't afford to GIVE the money DO NOT LOAN IT. This will keep you from both making poor decisions and risking friendships and relationships.
And I recommend (even for family and friends, if they get pissed it is their loss) do a contract or at least some written confirmation so you have proof
My dad always told me, never loan money you can't afford to lose. Because if someone needs to "borrow" money, it will ruin a relationship if they can't pay you back. Better to not do it in the first place.
I've lost a 12 year close friendship with someone I knew very dearly over money. Friendship stretched right back to 2003 and ended in 2015. Sadly they changed virtually overnight once they met their "wife" of their dreams.
This really hits me. I have scammed my friends aswell a few years ago saying it was for school. Every single day till I confessed was the most stressful day which I could only turn for short time enjoyment by gambling. I paid them all back and they forgave me. I never gamble anymore, I do sometimes get the urge to. But the I just think to how deep I've sunken back then, the feeling goes straight away. Most of the time there is a reason people start gambling, not just because for the fun, but to forget other stuff. I hope this guy gets back up.
The "how old are you" opener is a classic -- your odds of getting someone to give you something hinge on getting a reply in the first place. Whether he knew it or not, it is a common strategy that scammers implement in their trade, because it increases the chance of success so dramatically. Just a weird, simple, cold open question to get your foot in the door.
@@shreynaidoo7463 I dunno, he might have been afraid to say anything or get help, admitting you scammed your friends for money because you have a gambling addiction isn't easy and pretty damn scary. Not excusing him scamming his friends ofc.
This guy needs two things: serious time in rehab, and someone to watch over his finances, whether it's a trusted friend, a family member, or maybe someone appointed by a judge. I dunno.

Asking for money sucks, when you actually need it. I have been there, messaging friends, either getting it or being told no. Then having to message a random friend you haven't talked to in ages to try again. I always paid my debts but still that feeling of having to ask when you truly need it, it's undescribable.

I had a friend with a gambling addiction do the exact thing with everyone that worked in my company. Told everyone that he didn't have enough money to buy his young daughter any food. He would constantly call me about it until I caved in and sent him some money. Eventually, it all came to light and we stopped being friends. It was hard losing a good friend over a bit of money. What's interesting is seeing all the parallels with Sliker's situation. When they tell you not to tell anyone because "it's embarrassing", what they're really doing is stopping you from speaking to others and finding out about the scam.

It's obviously sad for everyone involved but it's about time this kind of thing is brought to light and hopefully twitch reconsiders their stance on gambling
Well, it's not just about his gambling. I'm hoping it brings about more awareness in dangers of 'loaning' other people money. It's fine to lend friends who you trust some money, but dont give money to people you barely knowing, expecting it to be returned. It should be an immediate red flag if they are asking a viewer or mod to borrow money, obviously they wouldve already gone through the people they do know.
He gambled outside of his stream, not on it. He also simply asked people for money and they were sadly stupid enough to give it him. I didn’t see any contracts for repayment signed nor do I see anyone with a gun to their head forcing them to donate. It was their own choice.
On OR off Twitch, gambling is nothing but a "regulated" ("regulated" my ass frankly) industry built on creating addicts, making the greedily rich even more prosperous, producing pain and poverty, making victims' lives a living and spiraling hell, and just be a horrible plague on any society/community.

It's hard for me to feel pity towards someone like this because I had someone close who has a gambling addiction and the lies they tell, the way they manipulate you to make you feel awful for them.. I hate it. I hope everyone that wasted their money on him, gets their money back somehow.
The fact that no one outed him in 2 years shows what often happens with scams. People feel embarrassed that they were scammed, so they don't want others to know, and they also hope that maybe they'll eventually get the money back

As someone who lives with a gambling addict and has his whole life damn near I can guarantee that just because the programs exist doesn't mean the addicts will go seek help. They have to want to change
Yeah, if they want to they will. I quit cold turkey heroin/fetanyl after 3 years daily use. And the w/d’s were/are terrible. However, I was more successful than my counterparts who went to inpatient and/or outpatient. I just made the change.

He asked a discord mod of his and got annoyed at him for not wanting to paypal him money due to not wanting to leak his own personal details, apart from this none of us would hear from him, and he slowly stopped streaming. He also brought a brand new 2022 benz just last year and was taking trips to the US back and forth to visit his then girlfriend. The age-old advice is to never loan money to family or friends. If you feel you must, you should always assume you're not going to be paid back. I only hope that anyone who fell for his stories did not loan him anything outside their own means.
idk, my family pays each other back. It's more like don't loan money to strangers on the internet just because you like their streaming content, they're still not your friend
@@kenirainseeker539 It was not just viewers who fell for it. And he approached them as a friend to get them to give him money. There are many reasons why putting money between a familial or friendly relationship is a bad idea but the point is, if you are going to do it, it should only ever be an amount you can live without ever seeing back.
This whole thing really just epitomizes that "One good win will set me straight" mentality that causes all gambling addicts to lose every cent they own. He had 100k at one point to get it right, and you know the moment he got it he KNEW he should've just paid it all and been done with it, but he thought "If I can just double up this 100k on one good bet, I'll be able to pay everyone back AND get even more, maybe even pay back the guy who gave me 100k or keep some for myself." And he gambled with it, and he lost it, because gamblers literally cannot fight against their addiction
@@halfpint5877 It's true, I've experienced addiction many times, and it is still a choice each and every time. It might lack good judgement, but it's still a choice nonetheless.
@@halfpint5877 If you really just said there's absolutely nothing you can do to "fight against addiction" then clearly you're the one who doesn't know one shit. As long as science of addictions is concerned, there's nothing that makes you 100% unable to resist 100% of the time. And it happens all the time. You have people who've been smoking a pack per day for the last 20 years but will absolutely not light the thing up whenever there's a child nearby to inhale the smoke. Happens all the time.
The most awful thing about a gambling addiction is that's there's actually a small chance of success that these people just chase and chase. You can't say that with many other addictions.
An ex gambling addict myself, I can’t help but feel for him to a certain degree. I have lied and stolen in the past to gamble all with the intention of winning and paying everyone back. Hundreds if not thousands of lives will be destroyed because of gambling being not only whitelisted but presented as cool to literal children and young adults. I am beyond disgusted by anyone associating with it from companies to streamers, these guys are far worse than scammers(in slikers case doing both) and trust me you are better of getting scammed 27k then having a gambling addiction which destroys you financially, mentally, phisically while destroing your relationships and family. Please stop it.
Gambling right now is unironically so bad gambling addicts that are trying to recover have to basically hide from the internet. They can't play games anymore because they all have gambling microtransactions in them now, they can't watch tv because gambling advertisements, they can't watch streams because gambling advertisements. They literally get bombarded ANYWHERE they go
Just because some people get addicted doesn't mean gambling is bad. Prohibition is so much worse, fuels other crime by funding criminal organizations, and makes the consequences of addiction worse, same with drugs. All drugs should be legal and sold in state licensed and regulated stores.
Gambling has damaged both mine and friends health, it's a horrible thing to get stuck into, it's a shame that he's in the situation, and it sucks even more he used friends and followers to provide for his addiction, I hope he gets the help he needs and repays back the people he stole from.

@@EggEnjoyer Interesting! But besides having been forced to act with basically no other choice - They still didn't actually: "... as of Oct. 18, websites that offer “slots, roulette or dice games” that are not licensed in the U.S. or other jurisdictions with “sufficient consumer protections” can no longer be streamed on the platform." They merely regulated some parts of it somewhat and it most probably won't change much in the long run because it's rather easy to circumvent and the attention span of people is usually way too short to see something like this through.
@@EggEnjoyer I'd almost bet a shtton that soon there'll be licensed ones with "sufficient consumer protection", whatever that undefined empty phrase is supposed to mean, and everything will continue as usual with minor changes and a new name. But I don't gamble ;) Besides that, they exclude some of the most problematic activities from the getgo, including those used to introduce kids to gambling. Anyway, I'd be highly surprised and outright delighted if the heavy weights were to actually follow through and keep at it even if it might cost them. As of now it rather seems like virtue signaling and meaningless action with no real consequence in the end. We'll see.
First, thank you Charlie for the empathy and understanding of addiction you showed while still not excusing anything. To everyone saying "he only admitted it and felt sorry when he got caught" to you I say nay nay. The thing about addiction is, it literally hijacks your brain chemistry, it's impulsive. Once the deed is done/they get their fix the guilt sets in and they feel *horrible* most of the time to the point they start believing they're just a pos that isn't capable of being better. This isn't helped by the attitude society has towards addiction in general, y'all have no idea how excruciatingly hard admitting you wronged ppl that care about you and betrayed their trust is. Going to rehab or doing anything that you really should be doing if you want to get clean isn't possible to hide for most ppl which is why ppl don't get serious help early on. Once it can't be hidden and ppl begin to expose it for you, the weight is finally lifted and they can admit to everything even often times because that giant wall is no longer there. Is that right or fair? No, but we are humans with limits and imperfections. The more we say ppl are only doing this or that for x selfish reason the more ppl feel trapped in the cycle. You can hold accountable while also giving the room to grow. Sometimes ppl don't want to change but the ones that do we need to try our best to allow that to happen. Wouldn't you want that for you?
Beautifully put. Unfortunately, this is something people dont understand until they themselves have been absorbed into the throws of addiction, or loved someobody who has.
As Mr nacho said this is wonderfully put and I can help but draw similarities between this and depression, anxiety, etc. Dealing with both of those most my life (and schizophrenia but I found that out later) I couldent help but feel like a POS when I would put my own needs before my family and friends and it's bit me in the ass hard. Iam on the up turn though and hope and pray for everyone that goes through this. Keep going bois and gals it's a little brighter on the other side. :)
This is part of why Charlie is so loved. Man sees a guy who has scammed hundreds of thousands of dollars from people and manages to condemn his actions while still painting the guy as a person. His judgement isn’t clouded by his empathy for the victims; rather, he sees both sides of the story. He recognizes that you can still be a good person despite doing bad things and I think that’s something everyone needs to learn to see. I love his quote here, “You can feel bad for someone’s mental health while also condemning their actions.” It’s such a huge statement that more people need to understand; so many people use mental health as a scapegoat and a way to avoid getting into trouble for their actions, but realistically your mental health doesn’t make you perfect despite anything you do.

This hits hard. With so much hate in the world and especially on the internet Charlie finds compassion for those in a deep hole they dug themselves. Although I’m definitely no contender for actual addiction problems, I do hyperfixate, which is similar. Hyperfixations take up all your time, focus, and energy and are often the reason I skip meals. You can’t really see doing anything else but fueling your temporary dopamine high. Luckily most cases of hyperfixation in people my age are harmless (in a technical sense) they still hold weight in bad habits later in life. I’ve dropped everything before to do something I was hyper focused on and didn’t really bother to interact with those around me. Addiction-in any context- is terrible for you mind. Although my “addiction” phases are much shorter and not as debilitating, I feel truly awful for what this guy’s mind is going through. I hope, for both his viewers and patrons, that this all ends up in a positive direction
I mean ya he just deserves prison. Gambling addiction isnt an excuse. I hope he gets help, but I also hope he is sued and forced to pay back his victims. Happy he came out though
Here's a tip, don't lend money to your friends, rather just gift it and dont expect it to be returned. Friends and money is a dangerous combo that can go South very easily
Yeahh that's what I do. So whenever I don't have extra money that I'm ok losing I tell them I don't have any money TO LOAN to THEM. and whenever I do have extra money I just expect that they won't pay me back
Funny enough, there’s a teaching about this thing exactly that goes as far back as the Torah, I think in either Wisdom or Proverbs. Don’t lend money, just gift it, don’t give an opportunity to hold onto debts and don’t let yourself get into debt as it can strain relationships. Easier said than done now with how commonplace financing and credit systems are nowadays but I think it’s wise to apply it among friends and family.

"You can feel bad for someone's mental health while also condemning their actions" This sums it up pretty well. Of course I feel terrible for all the people who reached out to lend a hand and lost their money... but the former drug addict in me knows the point he had to be at to even ask people for money in the first place. I used to work fir a casino and the amount of options to help with gambling addiction is plentiful. There are posters and leaflets everywhere. You can also put a self hold you can volunteer on yourself and casinos won't let you in. This is really sad
it’s crazy how all the way up until the very end scammers won’t admit they’re in the wrong, they’ll keep lying and keep pretending they’re the victim even when both parties know the gig is up.
Can't imagine ever giving someone that much money, especially someone I've never met (viewer to streamer). Very stupid on both ends, even if it was done out of aid
Unrelated to streamers cuz i wouldn't give a cent (unless i buy a product lol) to someone i don't know but to friends and family i won't be bothered at all for hundreds of bucks. I payed for my parent's trips so they could go with me and my siblings to rome and it costed like 2k but i am never going to ask them a dollar , very big difference between family/close friends that are like family and random people online.
Alot of people get out of depression and sadness because of these people. So alot of people have no problem with it. They probably saw it as the person they looked up to needed help, and they where able to pay them back for him helping them in the past.

@@shlomoshlomo963 same, why should i give my hard earn money to someone if i can spend on things that i need, i dont even give money to my family i rather pay the bills myself instead of trusting them.
How could you ever give ANYONE that much money? Like there's only 3 people in my entire life that I would trust enough with anything over $100, much less thousands.
He should be embarrassed at the very minimum. The gaslighting in some of the DMs as well.. What he did is not a small mistake or misunderstanding, he lied about what he needed the money for, and even pressured some of these people to give money to him. I hope the people that were scammed go after him legally because this man will not give them the money back otherwise.
and the guy was creepy and narcisstic enough to initiate face times with all the people so they would be even more pressured... this is not a case of addiction making a good person bad. this was an already scummy dude , turned into a predator.
Unfortunately, they’ll most likely never see their money again. Pursuing legal action to get their money back will only cost even more making it pointless to do so :/ the best thing to do is to just take the L and move on sadly

Like many here I’m an addict in recovery 13 yrs now, and shame is big so I know those tears are real- but train should have viewed it as the same as. Giving 100,000$ to a heroin addict! When in active addiction you go through the cycle of magical thinking of I just need this to fix that ! And and it gets so crazy. I got a lot of empathy for the guy,, but I hurt a lot of people as well so that’s as real and can’t just be I’m sick - there is no way back machine , so u have to own it and then start spending the rest of your time doing the best you can to make it right! Sometimes all you can do is just be better and can never right the wrong, but you need to put in the effort, and I hope this is his rock bottom but who knows. Gambling addiction is the worst , it directly wipes out whole families, why the whole suicide thing- and now you just need to fire up your phone and the fix is right there!
I am a former addict, and I have family who is still addicted. Gotta say that I don’t feel all that bad for this person. I think it’s nice that people are being so compassionate, but he lied and scammed his way through HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars and the greater you wrong people, the worse a shitbag you are. Most people wouldn’t let themselves get to this point. I feel like if he hadn’t gotten caught he’d still be doing it. Gambling is an addiction, but he let it go far beyond that. I hope he goes all out to pay people back, and win back the trust of his family. This situation sucks, but it’s sucks the most for those who lost money in all this. There needs to be more aware around online gambling and it’s pitfalls.
People this deep into addiction need to reach this rockbottom moment to begin the process to recovery. I feel for him, man. In a weird way, I'm sure he is remorseful for what he did.

Exactly, if you try to help addicts yourself, all they’ll do is drag you down with them. They literally take advantage of those who try to support them.
Sure, it’s great that you feel for him. But actions speak a lot louder than words. He gotta pay up for his mistakes(pay back those he borrowed from), otherwise all the sentiment is meaningless. Everybody has hardship and things like this are definitely able to be overcome

This happens regardless of whether gambling is advertised or not. It's a personality trait that people are born with. Allowing gambling to be advertised and shared also allows for these stories to come out so people can get a full picture of what gambling is like. If you try hide it then people still will gamble the same, but will suffer in silence too.
@@MyNameIsSalo People still suffer in silence because it's socially accepted on Twitch and encouraged in a lot of gambling streamers chats, most will brush off some random chatter suffering and that's if they tell anyone. The only stories in the light are popular streamers like Sliker being affected.

The fact that Train gave him 100k to pay people back really showed how deep in he was. Should have just paid everyone back himself instead of giving it to Sliker.
its so easy to get away with anything as long as you just say your addicted to something and give fake apologies for sympathy. there's a sucker born every second that falls for this.
It's beyond me that these people were finessed in giving this goober money. But then again, I can see how people can fall for this, but don't put yourself at risk to the point that someone can easily guilt trip towards you into doing so because people that do this have no remorse.
Somebody I thought was a friend use to guilt tripping me to give him all my time, energy and attention. He was using his illness to justify his demands. He was quite dismissive and rude regarding my own health issues. I refused to be manipulated and he became angry and controlling. l stood up to him and he accused me of being the problem and put the phone down on me. The scales have fallen from my eyes. I realise he has been using me for years. Now it's time to give all that time, energy and attention to myself and my own healing. He refuses to take any responsibility for his own life, so there is nothing more I can do. It was very hard for me to deal with.

Gambling addicts do that to their friends their closest family and everyone. Same M.O. like with heavy drugs for example... Gambling is pretty bad, i don't get why it is allowed to be advertised, not only on twitch but in sports and everywhere.

Even if he’s crying, it’s not because he’s regretful or sad. People seem to call it fake tears not realising he’s still torn up over getting caught and his life’s reputation being over. You can cry without being remorseful.
I think it's also concerning the level of infatuation many viewers have with streamers, in this case giving this dude their hard earned money, in some cases a large amount of money, when they probably know full well that they're never getting it back.
Something I love about you Charlie, is that even when people do heinous things like this, you are still willing to see the human side of things and have a ton of compassion for people. That's why you're a good one. Such a good egg and why I've been watching you for years and will continue to do so. :) don't you dare fucking milkshake duck me.

i swear i never use discord because of things like this and at 4:40 when he said you are young to ask or whatever why do they seem to just type their thoughts out and send it like half the time it makes it worse
I went to his chat when he went live crying and it was still brutal even in sub only mode. Even long time subscribers and mods were calling him a scammer. The mods refused to moderate and it was brutal.
@@LJRacing233 It's hard to actually support a gambler though. A lot of times you just end up enabling them. No matter how hard you try and how smart you are about it. Short of taking total control of their finances (I had to do this with my brother) and CBT to address why they gamble, there isnt a whole lot you can do.

man took 7K from a struggling cancer on chemo therapy then he asked for 10 K he has no morals and no empathy and will do and say anything to get himself out

"That still doesn't mean I want to celebrate watching him cry on stream" that whole part at the end was super cool. Condemn his actions but don't take joy in his pain
I wasnt mentally or emotinally prepared to hear a broken up man, aware of the fact he has severed all his meaningful realtionships and status, sob, knowing no one is to blame for his ruin more than himself. Audibly hissed at that clip. I myself am a pretty rowdy person, but many of my closest friend have a personality and pride similar to those of the dude. Thinking of where my friends could end up is a scary thing, I hope I have enough awaraness and influence to wake them up before they dive straight into their downfall. This whole thing, all this trust and good will wasted on a good man that took the wrong turns, realized it, but kept digging himself deeper and deeper.. this is just plain tragic. Sadge..
a good man?? how can you look at a guy who scammed thousands of people including a cancer patient out of their money and say he is a good guy who just took a WrOnG TuRN
If you ever need to “lend” money to a friend just gift it instead… don’t ever lend out what you can’t afford to lose. If I gift it and then they eventually pay back that’s great! But if not it doesn’t affect my relationship with my friend at all :)
As gross as it is, it's hard not to feel bad for everyone involved, Sliker included. He knows he has a genuine illness and truly seems to feel horrible about scamming so many people. There is no way to really justify the fact he scammed so many people, but as Charlie said, you can still feel bad for someone while condemning their actions. Sliker needs help and I truly hope he gets it
I'd like to add that maybe everything that's happening now is just what he needs to finally start recovering. It sometimes takes a huge slap in the face to face something that seems insurmountable. I hope so for him at least.
you can always take from people, just have to know the way around it. It has to do with being fine with yourself, then you won't do bad things automatically.
