Part One of a series of behind-the-scenes looks at The Strokes recording their fourth LP. Filmed by the band members - narrated by Richard Priest - edited by Wiz Kid Mgmt.
"Julian was touring with his solo album during this time, the guys mostly recorded the songs on their own, and then Julian would come and record his part." There ya go, now you know why he wasn't here.
nick valensi's reaction to fab filming him: In Transit (2001): WHAT, YOU GOT A FUCKING CRUSH ON ME? In The Studio (2010) WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHY ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME?? it's like these guys never lose their love for each other its incredible
It's fascinating to watch this knowing that this was the very recording process that Nick Valensi trashed and despised. It's like capturing The Strokes at their most frustrated point.
I feel like the narrator was suppose to narrate a wildlife documentary but ended up doing one of The Strokes. -Fabrizio and Albert in their natural habitat. Mating season is slowly approaching. The attraction to one another is astounding.
Nick’s “what are you doing, you following me?” @ 4:14 and “what are you doing, man?” @ 4:26 remind me of In Transit when he says “what are you filming man?” and “what? You got a crush on me???”
dude sounds like a douche bag. Let the artist create the music and YOU record/make it sound the best it can. that simple guitar part that he played may have been great. Just because "it could have been played by anyone" is irrelevant. A lot of great guitarists don't play like Vai. This idiot probably would have had them change their whole first album. What an idiot. I would have fired this guy immediately. I don't care what his resume is. He was the wrong guy for THIS band.
@@pb12661 agreed. Weird the producer would tell Nick that. Nick is such a talented man. No wonder he joked in the video that he couldn't play guitar with the asshole saying that. Btw, Nick has been playing guitar since he was 5. Truly amazing!😊
@@carlosoverdadeiro5650 right? people only want yes man around them, that is what he is there for, to make them improve and do the best of their ability, not just trying to get the job done with the first tune you hear lol
I was waiting for nick to say "WHAT?! YOU GOT A FUCKING CRUSH ON ME OR SOMETHING?!" Ahaha like he said when fab was filming him up close in the strokes in transit
What excites the shit out of me is just how talented each of the members of The Strokes are, and the fact that their upcoming album has been their first true group effort.
This narration is making me laugh way too much! lol. That moment with fab and albert i've seen sooo many times before and it still gets me everytime. If you are looking for new music try searching The Stumble and Shake - Oh my darling, Oh my dear (Earthquake Version) you may be in for a surprise!
Fab is fabulous! I met him once and seriously, not lying one bit, he is the sweetest guy! I cant even begin to explain how insanely nice he is. Okay, now I'm sad and wanna rewind time and meet him aaalll over again. lol
Tracey Henderson I don’t know too much about why, but I know that Julian is a sort of hyper perfectionist when it comes to his own creations and so for angles he recorded the vocals afterwards and sorted out the final touches. It’s kind of sad really because I loved the band, but it seemed like the rest of the band wanted to be more involved and Julian just wanted to keep his own spin on things.
Nacbo no, you’re right. And with their new album coming out, it seems as though he’s loosened up a bit. Apparently Albert wrote the song that was leaked.
HOLY GOD!!!!! I nearly exploded when I saw this was up. \m/ \m/ EXCITEMENT. fab is so funny on the sofa and his dance behind the glass.''Nikolai broke the zoom'' is fast becoming one of my all time favourites hahaha
oh my god this video made my day (or even my week, maybe month) I've been watching In Transit all over again and really missing the Stokes but this makes me so happy :D Nikolai broke the zoom is amazing xD
Hey guys, listen carefully at around 5:40 and later on in 6:08, in the background you can hear a song, most probably a demo from the new album. It sounds a lot like Last Nite and Someday from Is This It. Which is good, there will possibly be classic 'Strokes songs, WHICH IS AWESOME.
I personally loved all three albums. I didn't start listening to the strokes til 2007 and so I was gradually introduced to different songs from different albums. They all have the same distinct Strokes sound in my opinion, even though the songs from FIOE are a bit more polished. Both musically and lyrically they matured album to album, which is what a band needs to do. Can't wait for this one to be honest.
OMG! HOLY GOD!!!! I nearly exploded when I saw this was up..AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! also, ''Nikolai broke the zoom'' is fast becoming one of my all time favourite songs.
