They need to, the bigger legacy manufacturers have gotten lazy in their QC, particularly Seiko. Casio does it right or they don't do it at all, I watched a video on their G Shock torture factory, no wonder they have the reputation they do, few companies stick to the practices Casio does.
I've had a few "Swiss" quartz movements that had absolutely atrocious alignment. Those boys in Geneva put out battery powered watches with distain and disgust.
@@ianbutler1983 I just don't know how Seiko can mess up so badly, considering they absolutely dominate the domestic market here in Japan. Even small microbrands that get made in China quite often have better QC than 'Made in Japan' Seikos...It's mind boggling. I wonder if Casio ever moved into the automatic side how they would hold up?.....
About 7 years ago I built a custom Scuba dude 710 Vostok for my Dad. It stopped ticking 5 years later so I went into Corte Ingles here in Spain and saw this watch in black. I've always love the Aqua Terra so I got him it as a Christmas present, gorgeous watch for I think €100 I paid. He loved it and wore it constantly until his untimely death from Covid last April. I think he might have been buried with it, I don't know because of the travel restrictions I could not go to the funeral. I really need to buy one because I love the watch and because of sentiment attachment to it.
Edifice is a great range, I had a black chronograph for a while....picked it up for £50 new ... Changed out the strap and it looked and felt like something 3x the price apart from the lume like yours. The seconds hand on it also hit every single marker - I think Casio have got the QC spot on with this range.
+ 100m with screw down crown + Great proportions + Great looks + Accurate Once the crystal is a bit busted up switch it out for Sapphire and this is all the watch you will ever need. Outstanding. Keep this sort of content coming on the channel, there are too many watch 'lovers' fixated on automatics 👍
I got this in August 2019 from Amazon. After the $25 gift card I had, this watch cost me $5. The best $5 I've ever spent. I wear this piece as a beater, and it's fantastic.
I'll never give up on or be shamed of my love of quartz movements. This is a fabulous watch. I've always been a Casio fan. Great review Jody, I enjoyed it. Thanks.
You can’t believe how happy I am to see you finally reviewing an Edifice model. I know normally they are not your cup of tea, but I am sure there are many of us out here that are huge fans of both the Edifice and Oceanus range. Nice review.👍
Thank you Jody, another great video. You bought the 100 in white and I bought the smaller 110 in black. It is a superb watch. Currently the blue dial 110 is available in the UK for as little as £52GBP. The black seems to be the most popular and more expensive but I don't remember paying a lot. It's about all the watch you'll ever need but that then defeats the idea of just one more watch. Maybe I need the white one for when it's summertime and shorts weather here......hmm!
One of my favourite watches in my collection! I have the smaller version of the blue dial and I love it. I'm always slapping it on the wrist - so comfortable and looks great! I've actually gotten compliments for it! Which I don't usually get! Great video!
Hey ETA, Miyota, Timex...look at how Casio does a quartz movement. It was so soothing to watch the second marker nail EVERY SINGLE MARKER. It does seem every Casio is this good. I'm looking online now ...
My casios have been mostly aligned well enough which is great considering the price and the poor alignment on more expensive offerings. Casio QC is pretty decent and I am not aware of any Seiko like chapter ring issues.
if you fancy a solar style watch with white dial try " Charles Paris " French assembly watch. slightly more expensive but a nice watch I have had mine for a while going great
Recently got this watch with the white dial and yes the hype is real. This thing is an absolute beauty and extremely comfortable and lightweight to wear and you instantly forget that it's on your wrist. Only negative as the reviews suggest are the bracelet and I initially thought about replacing them with another steel bracelet but then it's no longer light weight. Because of the white dial I can use any colour leather, nato or rubber strap and match it for any occasion. The second hand hits the indices perfectly and is kind of expected from a Casio, all my Casio's do that impeccably.
Back in the day, when I went to the watch store, just to look at some nice analog Casios I tried this one, but walked out the store with the EFR-S107D on bracelet. It's like 8mm thin and has 100m WR too. BUT the case is so much better detailed. And the dial, oh boy. You have to try one Jody, trust me.
Those are beauties (And sapphire) too and a little bit better bracelet than EFV-100 I thought. The difference is wearability, the teal accents and case design are playful/sporty whereas EFV-100 is an all-around piece
Got the black dial 40mm with leather strap (efv 100L) for under 60$... Immediately swapped the black and grey bond nato I had lying around on it, now it looks awesome. The ticking is as mentioned much more audible especially when I compared to my duro marlin, which is almost 100% silent. But nowhere near as audible as my weekender. It wears so well and the bond nato is the best option for strap with this one imho.
Ordered the smaller black version eariler today and then stumbled across your video. Was really good to see a more recent vid as all the others are about a year old now. I have a smaller wrist and own a SARB035 which I love although sits a little high on the wrist. Really looking forward to having a smaller somewhat hybrid of SARB and Aqua Terra, two watches I really love. Keep up the great reviews!
The style of this watch is great. Really nice that they have tried to make the bracelet more comfortable despite it having folded links. Gotta love Casio Watches
Honestly, this watch is so nice... I mean, I obviously prefer automatics/mechanical watches but ignoring the guts, I could easily live with this as my only watch. There are several Seikos and Steeldive/Watchdive/Addiesdive in the general price range that do many things well but I think if I had to have one single watch under $125 to wear every day... I think I'd be pretty tempted to keep my white EFV-100. I don't hate the bracelet though I did brush mine out, but I wear it on a very dark brown distressed leather strap. I have the white and the black 100s. Also had a blue 100 that I gave away and had one of the smaller a black 110s that I also gave away. I'm in no way saying the Casio is the equal of the Omega or the SARB, but for the price... it's a great combination. I paid $60 for the black one and $29 for the white one. Add another $20 to $30 for a better strap or band and I think it is really hard to beat for that $100.
I don't know what it is with Casio, I just love them. By far my all time favourite watch manufacturer. Other than G-shocks, I own tonnes of casio watches, some are nearly 2 decades old
I have the smaller 110D version of this watch with a blue dial. It's fantastic, and I absolutely love the 35/36mm sizing of it. It's my most worn quartz watch out of my whole collection. I love the fact that it has a screw down crown and if it came with sapphire glass, I think it would be one of the best quartz watches ever made at the price 😁😁
I'm 'this close' to picking up my first Casio in 40-odd years thanks in part to your enthusiasm for the brand....but it won't be this one. Despite how good it looks, I'm going down the digi route. Cheers Jody!
I don't own any Casios and when I see a review of them I always say "yup, that looks great," and I proceed to not buy it. They look nice but I'm just rarely interested in wearing a quartz or digital watch. I decided a while back "it might be nice to own *one* digital watch" so I bought one for $10 on AliExpress and when it arrived I said "yeah, that's good" and have no real desire to buy another. As for a decent quartz in the "it's always ready, just pick it up and put it on" category, I have Citizen Eco Drive watches for the purpose, so again, Casio is close but doesn't take the prize.
Nice! It's a far cry from the series of Casio digital watches I used to go through in the 1989's. Each would last a few months before the strap tore or buckle broke or the face got scratched and I'd toss the old one, spend $30, and start afresh with a new model with new bells and whistles (calculator, outdoor temperature, split lap timing, etc). Good vid. Keep at it!
I picked up a blue one (with the lovely orange accents!) last year and ordered a blue rubber strap at the same time to push it even further toward the sporty end of the spectrum. I'm even more a bracelet snob than Jody so I knew I wouldn't be happy with it. It's one of my favorite summer watches. I'm looking forward to to the "upfitting" video. Thanks, Jody!
This is a great little watch, very comfortable. Bracelet is a weaker point, but it is very comfortable (as long as your wrist is the right diameter, I guess).
Same here too. I was looking at the Corgeut but I didn’t feel comfortable that it was such a close homage to the Aqua terra. This appears to be a better watch.
I've just ordered mine from Amazon Germany. I had previously ordered the 35mm version black from Amazon Germany and I didn't mind paying custom on this. The watch is a gem. Can't wait to get the white one!
Picked mine up last September from fleebay for £55. Great little watch, cheap, comfortable and second hand hits the markers. Just amazing what you can get without forking out much cash. Great review.
This was fun, but oh my gosh: I am very excited to hear about your plan to use it for a mod watch! It really is a great-looking watch (oh, to fantasize about them just putting some bright blue lume in that darn thing) and it will be really fun to see how it can be upgraded on a budget.
Flippin heck Jodie. Not had a Casio since I was a boy. Now I have a Duro, F91w, hunting a ae1200wh and now this ones on the list. I’ve sort of ran out of Crimbo money as well and birthdays not until November. Aha valentines 👍🏻😬.
I own the black version since October 2019. Price back than 70€ at Amazon. The second hand of my watch hits all the markers too. If you OK with Quartz, this is all you need from a daily driver. It's always good to brows the Casio catalog!
Also, you’re technically wearing an F1 watch. Edifice is AlphaTauri’s watch sponsor. And with those colors, it definitely looks like an AlphaTauri! Take that Richard Mille and Tag!
I have been looking forward to this video and it finally dropped this morning here in Copenhagen. I reckon it would look great on a Tropic-style rubber strap, or some quality leather. I have a Pulsar watch which does a very similar job to this one - screw-down crown, quartz and beautiful dauphine hands, but in a moment of weakness i’d pick this one up in an instant, so I better watch out! 😅 Thanks for your videos - they make the lockdown much more enjoyable!
Top review as always Jody. I managed to get this exact model a few weeks back here in the UK and it's a little beauty! Good luck to anyone in the UK trying to get their hands on this 40mm version. There are plenty of the smaller sized ones available, but I ended up getting mine shipped from Italy. The white dial 40mm version seems to be a bit harder to find in the UK. I agree the on the lume, slight ticking and the bracelet rattle. Bang for your buck it's worth it and I've had plenty of positive comments while wearing it.
After watching your Duro sapphire mod, I decided to try it myself on my MTD-1010. It's a beater watch and the mineral crystal was very scratched, ordered the 30mm sapphire crystal from Aliexpress and it looks amazing. Thank you!
A great watch, I have had the black face one about 3 years. It has been all over with me including in the dead sea thanks to the screwdown crown. A great watch with straps
Since I started watching these videos, and noticed people raising the issue of the second hand on quartz watches hitting or not hitting the indices, I went through my collection and interestingly noticed that the most accurate watches I have are India's HMT watches. One is the Track sports watch ($10) and the other an INOX quartz dress watch ($30). I believe the movements are based on older Citizen quartz movements. Solid.
I have the black version and it is gorgeous. I have it on a black leather strap with white stitching. The shiny bezel can also be easily polished with Cape Cod polishing cloths. The only quartz analog watches I own are this one and the Invicta 8932ob.
I was able to get the EFV-100L-1AVUEF last summer and the versatility is awesome since I wear it as a dress watch on the stock leather strap and a sports watch with a black NATO!
I have three edifice in my set, they are amazing value for money, generally very good build quality too. This one is gorgeous....just when I promised my wife I wasn’t going to buy one more watch! 😁. Cracking review Btw.
Hi Jody, I have the EFV-540 DY. Bought it online because I did not have any Casios or "all black" watches and liked the look of this one. Nice looks (even color matched date wheel), good construction and fair enough bracelet, for ca. 100€. Does get wrist time!
I watched a video on these watches back before Christmas 2019. At that time these were running like $40 or $50 on Amazon. I didn't pull the trigger figuring that I'd pick one up after the holidays. Then the price doubled and never came down. I sure regret hesitating since I still don't have one.
Glad you finally took the hint :) I have had my black dial for over a year now and it is only 10 seconds adrift from when first set. Great watch worn every day. You didn't mention a case comparison with certain of the Rolex range! Trust me, you will not be disappointed with this purchase.
I got this one for about 65... the depth of the dial, the hands, and the finishing on the case are quite impressive for the price, and the screw down crown just makes it a true sports watch. You will quickly get sick of that bracelet. I replaced it with a nice, sleek black seatbelt Nato with some polished hardware, and I wear it a lot more now.
Hi, Ive had the smaller model for over a year now and it gets a lot of wrist time. The strap is very comfortable despite seeming cheap. i call it an old style ‘explorer’
I pulled the trigger on a white 100D model at the end of last year. No reviews back then as it too new and under the radar. ~60USD back then. I like it a lot. If it was 38 - 39 mm and the bezel a bit smaller it would be perfect. the seconds hand hits all the markers. the dial is fantastic.
That HAALOOOOOO intro becomes longer and longer with every video you release Jody xD Love your content.. I literally say to my self "just one more watch" every time!
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo!! Nice shirt! Great looking Casio...I love that handset, and I’m a sucker for a clean white dial. Props to Casio for the seconds hand hitting all the markers!
I bought the black dial about a year and a half ago. Very nice watch. Very accurate too. The bracelet is nice but only has two micro adjustments so I couldn’t get a great fit. Put it on a nice leather strap.
I have the older Casio Edifice chronograph. No longer made, but got it for a great price new from the Casio outlet store around Black Friday. So old in fact that it arrived with a dead battery LOL. However, I was really impressed with the watch over all. Feels much better than most watches at the same price point and solid end links!
My black version was £58 and love it ,I really like the yellow second hand on mine .Couldn't get on with the bracelet but looks great on a sailcloth strap.
Hey Jody.. there are a couple of Edifice models with Sapphire crystal and don't cost a lot more this model. Go check out their Edifice catalogue and see if any catches your eyes. With the Sapphire crystal, the watch will stay pristine for much longer. 👍 Good review by the way. Casio always impresses me 😊
Helloooo!.... and... I just firstly would like underline how much I always appreciate your videos, please keep the spirit! A while after watching your video though, the one from Time Squared cane up, but about a 35mm watch... This video is 1 year old though, did this precious watch biff up? Please uncover this mistery if any! 🤘
I thought you'd done this already ? This is a great one. Just couldn't find a white dial that looked this "right" before Stuff that bothered me before getting it: No box around the date window (Pet peeve) Stuff that bothered me after getting it: It feels a bit light and cheap because of the bracelet compared to a heavy or Swiss bracelet. But just wearing it and you get used to it. A+ everyday
One of the main reasons I shun quartz watches is because of misaligned second hands, even from top Swiss manufacturers and yet Casio you can usually buy with confidence. I have a Casio radio controlled solar and the second hand is absolutely perfect, plus it's the most comfortable watch in my collection. If I had to ditch all my watches and keep just one, I reckon that would be top of my list.
Got this exact watch (gently) used on eBay. The band is quite big for my wrist even with most extra links removed, so swapping the band is a good option.
Boy, you’re late to the party on this one Jody. I’ve had one of those for over a year. It’s my SARB033 beater when I’m worried about wearing the genuine article in a potentially hazardous situation. Love mine. I got the black one on Amazon over a year ago for under $50 (yes, I just double checked my order). For the price, my only complaint is the lack of micro-adjustments on the clasp. At the price, I think it’s unbeatable. Well, better late than never Jody. 😁
Great looking watch and good to know it doesn’t tick like a Timex. I’ve got an Expedition Scout and an old Easy Reader and those things are loud! If you put one of them on the bedside table it’s like the scene in Jurassic Park when the T Rex is approaching and the glass of water is in the car is trembling 🤣
I've taken quite a liking to quartz watches recently. I just got an SNE039 from my parents and it looks l may need to add this one to my collection as well!
Nice Edifice sandwich! I was looking for the 35mm version of this cause I wanted another small watch to go along with the Marlin. Blue dial is the way I'd go. Looking forward to the mod video!!
