@@BirdsElopeWithTheSun09 I dont think thats the reason it bombed though. The movie had a identity crisis going on. It seemed like the marketing team didnt even know what the movie really was.
@@BirdsElopeWithTheSun09 Yea but they didnt market it as a Harley Quinn movie, they marketed it as a 'random group of people no one cares about' + Harley Quinn movie. I mean that hardly gave her character a fair shot. But to be fair, I dont know if she could carry a movie as a protagonist, she seems more like a side character that gets too much screentime.
The cast was amazing too! John Cena & Stallone added something to the film they couldn’t have gotten from anyone else. Elba gave them some true drama & grounded the whole film to give it that seriousness. Such a great film.
@@southerncinephile6258 Quite the Résumé right? Can't trust such famous universe to a body builder who created a 4 hour movie filled with slow motions lol
Upon watching it it’s pretty clear Gunn had a lot more creative freedom here that Hayes did for the original Suicide Squad film. I do also give him credit for keeping the better cast members from the first one.
@@michaelnally2841 I think he didn’t want to bring all of them. I wouldn’t be suprised if he brought a few more but maybe iterations. Maybe katana becomes the leader that works for Waller like Rick flag was.
You know it's a good movie when all actors and film crews are like having fun making it and not feeling embarrassed by the characters. In the first Suicide Squad, if I'm not wrong, Margot Robbie was embarrassed playing her character. That's probably a sign of bad movie. I also heard Gal Gadot had a problem with Josh Whedon when making Josstice League.
after watching the znyder cut, you can see how much of cyborg's arc Joss cut off from the movie, the character might as well not have been in it at all, just because he didn't like Ray or smthn
The outfit of Harley Quinn in the beach sequence it legitemately how I imagine a live action Harley would be and look like. Margot got the role right in both Suicide Squad (2016) and Birds of Prey, but this is in my honest opinion the way she should be portrayed going forward - minus the tattoos, of course. I was saddened to see this movie not doing optimal at the box office, becasue I feel there is so much potential in sequels from now on with the Suicide Squad.
god margot robbie was the perfect casting choice for harley, to bad she hasn't had a competent studio to put her on actually good movies cuz she's excellent in her role, the movies just end up sucking, hopefully this turns out to be good.
just finished watching the movie! and it was fucking AWESOME! James Gunn is a beast!!!!!!!!!! What the hell, not a DC fan but glad that James did justice for all their previous films to be honest.
I telling you man, producers and movie executives need to take notes. Keep letting these directors have the freedom they need to make these movies without interference, and the DC movies could easily take Marvel's crown.
I loved this film. So much fun and entertainment, great dialogue and acting. Some real clever translations reminded me of Amelie. The fight scene where it was filmed from the reflection from the peacemakers helmet. Some great and creative shots that really made the movie special.
I love that Peter Capaldi is wearing those big ass head phones. Also Rat Catcher: ppl will watch this once a month. Me: The movie I've seen 7 times already?
Zack Snyder take notes. Here's a man that can make a movie visually look great, and yet entertain the audience, and carry a story without just endlessly slow motion sparks and rain hitting the floor with classic music playing. James Gunn made one of the few good DC movies so far, it had a lot of personality. Zack Snyder however, is all about flavor and absolutely zero sustenance.
@@mix-VofoBan he is terrible at making movies the snyder cut of the justice league is terrible and the format is the worst but the normal justice league is also not great so fire him and batman v superman is also terrible
@@GeertjeTV well I respect your opinion but I genuinely love his films and I was hoping for him to finish his part of the rest of the DC arcs of his plan but again I respect your opinion
It's very cool how many practical effects this movie uses, many super hero movies nowadays are all green screens and motion capture suits, but this one is full of set pieces, costumes and props, I really enjoy this style of filmmaking.
James Gunn just fuckin gets it when it comes to making likable characters. Thank god Warner Brothers let him do his thing in this movie, because I didn't feel that there was a single bad character in the whole film, and most of them were scene-stealers!
I love James Gunn! He is so incredible! the ENTIRE CAST WAS SOOOO AMAZING! He also did Birds of Prey Better than Birds of Prey! Hate him all you Want James Gunn is a GENIOUS! The guy who plays polka dot is so underrated! And Nathan is just Nathan lol
@@fckblackbeard6203 Because Holland is nothing like Drake. Doesnt look like him, sound like him, walk like him, talk like him, or anything else for that matter, and we havent seen a single one of Tom’s roles be anything close to a Nathan Drake-type character. Fillion on the other hand, looks EXACTLY like Drake, and was actually the person who Nathan Drake was modelled after. He sounds like him, talks like him, and even down to his mannerisms, he fits Drake’s role PERFECTLY. He did a Fan film for Uncharted and my goodness it was so perfect, I literally can’t imagine Holland being a good Nathan Drake after seeing that.
@@jinxx44 tbf, Nathan Fillion is 50 years old now. Nathan drake is like mid 30s. So fillion is just too old now. And I believe the uncharted movie takes place earlier in drakes life so it makes sense to cast someone younger.
