Gabe your videos are so compelling that you've convinced a 73 year old man (my dad) that he needed to buy an ST Max without even trying it out and against all of my wishes to at least hit it first. He's a large child with a credit card and money to spend. We can't encourage him! 😂🤣

Technically the ST-Z and ST-X 230 are considered a 2024 club for Mizuno even though they were released last year. I just bought a new ST-Z 230 and it's such a great driver that just didn't get much traction last year. If this club is more forgiving than the ST-Z, its gotta be something special for sure!

Nice review, my problem with new drivers coming out especially from Mizuno and Titleist who’s standard driver length was 45in which was just fine for my 5 foot 6 in frame, of course new drivers are going to have more distance when new standard becomes 45.75” which unfortunately is .75” too long for me. Yes I know to get fit, except I can’t afford $500 drivers and so shop used on ebay for good deals which I did find in a tsr 2 driver and used the savings on shafts I can play

I tried this club last Friday, and it was absolutely amazing. I personally liked it better than the new Taylormade, Callaway, and Titleist drivers (didn't get a chance to try the Ping or Cobra).

I had the chance to try out the new Stix Driver the other day at the range. I have no idea how the Irons play but MAN I was very impressed with that driver! Nice looking too.

I can't afford the 2024, but I was wondering what were the names of the Mizuno 2021 and '22 that you talked so highly about so I can check into getting into those. You said they don't hold their value as the others so maybe I can get them at a decent price. Thanks.

@@billzinser6010 I just picked up a brand new 2023 ST-Z 230 from 2nd swing. Didn't come with a head cover but it was new in the plastic. Mine has the same shaft that Gabe has in this video and it's a crazy good lightweight shaft option. UST Mamiya LinQ 40MX. They have both the ST-Z and ST-X with a variety of stock shafts and loft variations. I paid $250 and it ships for free. They're listed as Mint but they're brand new. If you can get somewhere to test one, they're a heck of a driver! Very forgiving IMO. Sound and feel is unreal!

I find the Ping 10k to be SUPER forgiving... but man its a SPINNY driver. I Have a skytrak+ at home and I still go back to my Cobra LTDx Max. I get around 2700-3500 rpm (sometimes 4000 with a bad path) but the ping 10k, you get 6000+ but still manage to hold a fairway. I dont know how (but lose yardage). Its kinda crazy.

Nest practice drill is to hit the least forgiving driver you can get your hands on, then hit it well but play with the most forgiving driver.

Need to hit the stg440 driver! I bought two, literally bc they are amazing and didn't want to lose it. Watching the vid. The stg440 is VERY muted compared to the other drivers I have played (srixon zx5ii ls, Honma tr20 and Xp1, F8, sim2, mavrik, and rogue st

Gabe. I have to push back on your distance rating my friend…. And even in the other criteria. This isn’t a top performer for you at all. You actually got some shots right out of the screws and it went nowhere fast. But this is why we love your reviews so that we don’t waste out time testing these products in depth. And I know we’re are all different etc. maybe what’s going on is that because of your swing changes you are now in need of a higher lofted driver. Something isn’t adding up. You carry a 7 iron 175 and only hit the driver 220 to 230? And smash under 1.40?

Hi Mario, just to clarify, I carry my 7 iron about 168. Driver carry is generally about 235ish. Agree the smash looked low on average with this one, but the actual distance numbers were pretty strong according to the GPS.

All seriousness.. I got to take a few swings with my dad's new ST Max at the range and this thing is incredible! Feel and sound aren't too dissimilar from the ST-Z which I love. His is a 12° vs my 8.5° so a little different there. The shape and look at address is really pleasing and inviting like a big warm hug. Not overly big or weirdly pulled back like some but just very symmetrical and round. My OCD got along with it quite nicely. Due to the loft I hit more direct shots than up and I was actually seeing better distance than my ST-Z 😮 and disbursement was on a rope! So good!

The Mixuno ST Max is my favorite driver so far. I’m hitting way more fairways than before, and much more accuracy. I did shorten the shaft by 1 inch which was my preference.

I think that’s a good move. The stock length shaft seemed a bit too long IMO.

amazing how many great Drivers there seems to be these days. I'm from the dark ages where you were lucky to find a driver that was even hittable. I'm not a bad player either. The equipment just sucked bad back then.

That garmin g80 is so inaccurate for swing speed and smash factor it’s not even worth putting on the screen. 107 mph clubhead is not a real number for example. Kind of silly to discuss aerodynamics when it’s just a bad measurement from a faulty device.

Exactly why. Love my STX-230. After a session of 30 or so drives total averages were 103 SS, 146 Ball speed, Smash factor 1.40. Best ones were smash about 1.43-1.45 ish and carry pushed 250. With range balls and I picked good newer ones. @@LetsPlayThru
