What really got me with the Luma was that he could've left when ever he wanted

From the way Jack Blacks comments sounded the musical number was his idea. It was initially him just hyping up the movie with his own song, but the producers decided to make the “Peaches” song a part of the movie. I could be wrong, that’s just how it sounded to me.

Easter egg and references: - The minion in the Illumination Logo makes a common mistake among Mario Kart players; holding the gas at the start of the countdown for too long. -The concept of Mario and Luigi originally living in Brooklyn was used in western Mario media such as the cartoons. - The song that plays in the commercial is the theme song of the first old Mario cartoon. - The old guy that says “it’s-a-perfect” and Mario’s dad are voiced by Charles Martinet (Mario and Luigi’s voice actor in the games) - When they crashed into the brick wall; the hole that they formed is shaped like the 8-bit Mario sprite. - The space that appears between pipe’s path is a reference to Super Mario 3D World. - The skeletons that chases Luigi are called Dry Bones. I love everything about this movie, when it comes to the musical cues, the sound and all the Easter eggs. This movie, is a movie that you have to watch on repeat, all because there is a lot that's going to go over your head and haven't noticed the first time, seriously, there's so many references end musical cues, seriously, everything about this, is everything that's Mario, I'm talking, comics, animated series, almost every movie reference, just everything that's Mario brothers and Nintendo, but most likely, everything that's Mario brothers.

@2:55 that's the theme from "The Super Mario Bros Super Show" back in 1989. When Bowser's ship was approaching they had theme from Mario 3. There's so much nostalgia in this movie. @3:20 the arcade game is called "Jump Man" which was the original name until it was changed to Mario, the voice of the guy playing it is Charles Martinet who voiced Mario in the video games. There's so much nostalgia in this film. I loved it. On a budget of $100 million dollars, it now sits at $1.3 billion in total box office sales, which to me is pretty darn impressive and it makes it the highest grossing movie about a video game ever.

Fun fact, this is the THIRD Mario movie. Most people think of the live action one from '93 but there was an earlier animated one that never left Japan called Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach

Fun fact: peach has always been a badass especially in the old comic where she fights and also she has her own game where she saves mario and Luigi called super princess peach but Nintendo just likes making her the damsel in distress alot for some reason. Peach also fights along side mario Luigi and toad alot in the super mario super show cartoon so she has most definitely always been like this in certain media.

I watched this with my younger brothers a couple of weeks ago, and we had a lot of fun looking for as many game references as we could find. When we were little kids, the oldest out of my younger siblings and I used to watch The Super Mario Bros Super Show, during it's original run; so when we heard the theme song in their commercial, we knew we were in for a treat.

Gotta love this movie, it's a love letter to all the fams who've stuck with Nintendo over the years. And a fun fact about the Luma talking about dying is probably referring to how the Luma species literally go suoer nova and make a new galaxy by themselves or a new universe with a lot of them.

They were already a ways into making the movie before they came up with the idea of Bowser singing a song and asked Jack Black if he'd be up to it and after he read what they sent him he couldn't resist doing it.

Saw this in a theater, and me and my brother were laughing our asses off the whole time just from the music. That's the one thing I was missing in the Sonic movies.

This truly was an awesome movie. It gave us a proper origin story of the mario bros prior to finding the mushroom kingdom. I did enjoy some backstory on peach and how she became the princess of the mushroom kingdom. Chris Pruitt I tip my hat too. He showed he could do the mario voice....but I was more impressed that they gave it a modern feel. The second movie will definitely outdraw the first one once it hits theaters. I'd love yoshi as well. But I'd rather this story be built properly than try to pack it all in at once. Overall it's a great movie. Hit 1 Billion dollars in under 30 days ...which is unheard of. Favorite scene is definitely the mario kart assembling scene. Thunderstruck by AC/DC Works with anything. I also loved the Easter egg using the tension of DK & Mario ...paying homage to the Original Donkey Kong Arcade game. Hopefully Donkey Kong Country will get a movie in the near future. The cast was epic in this movie

What is your favorite Mario game? Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii will always have a special place in my heart. My brother and I played it all the time and took turns being Mario and the P2 helper. The visuals were stunning and the music was incredible. I frequently listen to the soundtrack while studying.

Was a little disappointed when i heard Luigi was going to be the one captured since he is my favourite, but than I saw this movie and was surprised that my second favourite nentendo character Donkey Kong got so much screen time plus Luigi did help save the day, all in all a great movie way better than the old live action super mario bros movie.

Here is the one and only thing I do not like about this movie: Princess Peach says she have gotten to Mushroom Kingdom from another world...but while Mario and Luigi gets back to their own world, Peach's world, or origins never matter. It's like as if it is fine that a girl was lost, when she was little. She may has a mother and a father who mourn her somewhere, after having spent years trying to find her, police involved and all... nobody cares.

I got to say I wasn't too happy with the editing done with this reaction, esp at the start when it kept cutting to your two faces every few seconds without any reaction but the biggest let down is cutting out all the good parts esp the part with the Karts and the blue shell... would have loved to see your reactions to those.

"Kid Icarus!" Wow, that's surprising you know it, given that Kid Icarus franchise is largely obscure outside of the Smash fandom.

I enjoyed this movie and for the super Mario bros movie 2 will be even more amazing with Yoshi in it. And I also wish that for the next villain will be Bowser Jr. and he better have Larry, Iggy and Roy with him because 4 of them are related to Bowser cause he’s their Dad. But I wonder who will be the voice actors for Bowser Jr. Larry, Iggy and Roy. Also for the voice actor for Yoshi too.

If you're looking for a fun next animated movie to watch I highly recommend Mitchells VS The Machines. It's story is very fun and full of love and passion for animation. And another that's really just fantastic is Nimona, definitely a must watch.

Super reaction!! I loved playing Mario as a kid; heck I still play it now!! This movie was perfect to a shiny star!! Me and my cousin loved alot of references based on the game... including the mushroom people using the....sorry but the princess is in another castle...cause the first game everytime you save 1 of them... thank you Mario but the princess is in another castle....funny...but my brother did not like it too much since he felt the voice actors just did voicing and not get into the character

When "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" was announced by Shigeru Miyamoto aka the creator of the game Mario in 2021, I was so immediately hyped up for being Mario's fan because Nintendo rarely collaborated with animation studios for a long time after the failure of 1993 live action film, but I felt a bit sad for Pratt because he received various backlashes for voice acting Mario while Charles Martinet the original Mario's voice actor has a cameo as Mario and Luigi's dad, this incident giving me a decision for supporting and give Pratt a very larger chance than a mountain 😊 I'm giving this film a rating 10 / 10 for Nintendo and Illumination's collaboration and everything in The Super Mario Bros. Movie had a loyalty to the original source in game 🎉

Have you guys seen the real Super Mario Bros movie? The one from the 90's?

Thought this movie was okay. It was nice seeing a children's movie that wasn't pushing much of an agenda for once, don't see that often anymore, but it still didn't really wow me. It was kind of fun, and I could definitely feel the good ol' Nintendo influence over the movie (beyond it being a Mario movie, of course), but unfortunately I also felt the Illumination influence. Make it cheap, and play it incredibly safe, so you see every single thing coming a mile away, and keep there from being too much that's all that memorable, but keep it entertaining enough that it's not entirely boring and that you don't dip out part way through. I'd say it's probably one of the best kids movies I've seen in the past decade or so, but I'd also say the past decade has set a bit of a low bar. If I had to give a 0-10 rating, with 5 being absolute middle of the road, okay but not great or terrible, I'd probably give most kid's movies of the past decade a 3 tops, and this a 5.5. It got the job done, but I wasn't really impressed, even as a somewhat obsessive Mario fan, that generally cuts most Mario stuff more slack than I should. I think that some of the problems, more specifically than it facing the struggles of being something Illumination had its hands on, include Peach being out of character for the most part (as well as, personal opinion, her voice not suiting the character she would've been if they had made her in character as well), it really feeling like it was designed to be The Super Peach Movie (no problem with Peach or her having a movie, I like her actual character, but it really feels like it wasn't written as "The Super Mario Bros Movie"), and the biggest flaw I think, stretching themselves too thin. I get they wanted to fit tons of stuff in, I really do, especially as someone that wants to SEE a bunch of stuff, but it felt like they really tried to cram too much into this movie. Like the DK thing. I love DK, but he exists in the movie to tie up loose ends that wouldn't be there if he weren't in the movie. The Kong army doesn't accomplish anything, and as far as I remember, the only thing DK accomplishes is saving his own dad, who wouldn't have been there if they hadn't gone to get the Kong army's help, which became a waste of time anyway. Really just felt like and hour and a half of things happening, without much reason behind it other than playing "spot the reference". I'm glad it was well received, so maybe Nintendo will dabble more in movies, and maybe fewer kids movies will push creepy things on kids, but I just hope that next time Nintendo either works entirely on their own, or works with a company that will do their IPs more justice than a company like Illumination ever would. tldr; Movie was arright, hope they try a bit harder next time.
