Man I swear this guy is a genius, has such a cohesive understanding of body biomechanics. It's ridiculous how negatively these imbalances affect the body. We're definitely moving machines that need regular service.. Thanks Conor

What an important message. I am over 70 and I wish I had known the importance of the feet in overall fitness when I was a child. These days, foot and foot chain exercises for mobility, strength and balance are a daily part of my routine. I read that 20 percent of people over 65 who fall eventually die as a result! Compare other causes of death. Balance and control start with the feet.

Very, very damaged (horribly, not from dance at all, but from life abuses of others) dancer giving you gratitude for your use of science, method, and generosity. I've seldom had any time to even internalize or study your lectures, but have today, out of the perhaps 3 years I've been bookmarking them thanks to signals from beyond. I'm trying to at least memorize what I do see. As a soul also in the sciences, my gratitude is real. And one day would like to remunerate you for such work. -- Olivia, chicago

The verbiage in regards to the pelvis test is confusing me. When you say "easier" do you mean it's easier for the shoulder to come off the ground? Sorry if it's a me problem, but I'm having a hard time understanding how to determine what you mean by easier and what it means about the pelvic rotation.
@Gavither
@Gavither 2 месяца назад
One side you will notice the opposite shoulder start to come off the ground sooner than the other. So, the hip is rotated to the side that's easier to turn towards. In his example, left was easier to turn towards and right shoulder comes off the ground to compensate. So his right hip is rotated to the left. This is how I understand it (it's also my problem side), correct me if wrong.
@stephen12188
@stephen12188 2 месяца назад
So the side thats easier to rotate towards in the side that needs to be worked on? It's easier for me to rotate to my left side and on right side rotation I feel restriction and tightness in my ql and obliques. Just confused because I feel that side that tighter would be the one to work on.

Hey Conor, is it possible to fix lateral pelvic tilt with exercises that don't involve lying on the ground? Standing and sitting corrective exercises would be amazing. Thanks for everything
@sweetsoad
@sweetsoad 2 месяца назад
Hey there, I'm not an expert or anything but my experience has been (having had these issues for a while) if you try to do corrective exercises while sitting or standing you're going to do them wrong because it's harder to overcome your bad habits while still supporting your weight. I had a lot more success with the lying on the ground / being supported exercises while also working on my feet in parralel (following foot collective youtube channel). then once I had improved my balance and sitting posture a bit (or at least knew the feeling I was aiming for) the standing/sitting exercises started to work a bit better. Just my experience tho, if you search youtube there are a bunch of sitting/ standing exercises for pelvic tilt. Good luck!

I think I have some imbalances in my hips/body bc I feel like I walk weird and I get tight in my lower back on my left side. It feel like my right hip is kinda moving ”down and then back” in a circle when I walk, and my right foot turns outwards (kinda rolls on the outside too) unlike my left which is straight. The thing is that I can’t really understand where on which side I have weakness, I have tested some exercises and I feel like I’m randomly weaker on one side sometimes but its not consistent with what side I’m ”supposed” to be weak in..? Should I just try to do the exercises on both sides?

I’m getting confused as well. I have a right hiked up hip and my pelvis definitely has an easier time going to the left when I do the test you show in the video but it’s my right foot that’s taking a beating because of the way it hits the floor. Because of being hiked up on the right side for so long, my right leg is actually extended down artificially so my right foot can touch the floor. I’ve been doing exercises to try to get that connection between my right glut and those areas you talk about in the right foot, but now I’m wondering if it should be my left side? Very confusing.

Hey Conor, i have scoliosis and i wanted to do your breathing exercise in which we inhale for 2s and exhale for 2s and stop for 4s but I worried whether or not this exercise could affect my scoliosis , by the way my curve is mild . What do you think?
@Hopeful887
@Hopeful887 2 месяца назад
@@ephelesfrance7006 I have a curve of 14 degrees; it's mostly lumbar to the right . I don't know whether it's fixed or functional. And what I am asking is that whether breathing exercises like the one I mentioned affect scoliosis in general , since scoliosis is varied in shape from person to person, giving info about a particular shape is not necessary.

explanation seems to be spot on about my condintion, yet very lazy to try out the exercise that seems to be a very not natural position to the body.
@cheesy_87
@cheesy_87 Месяц назад
That's the point, though. Your body is not recruiting the right muscles because it's compensating. You need to bring it in a position where it is harder to use the muscles it's normally using, and easier to recruit the ones you want it to use. Then, teach it to use the muscles you want it to use together. Do it over a period of time to establish a connection for these movement patterns. And then they carry over in normal positions. That's what you do in physiotherapy, it's quite normal.
@agriskaminskis9352
@agriskaminskis9352 Месяц назад
@@cheesy_87 while walking, spending more time standing on every leg, fixing how it feels for feet to land and participate in weight transfer. also hips, neck and position of arms might be so messed up that rebalancing is necessary. Probably involving transverse plain. Definitely a multidimensional solution to the PC induced crunch-scoliotic posture that is complimented with reduced spine extension tone.

The issue is trying to work out these clues why we can not stay on a push-bike balance and swimming then take off ok then can't stay up to a long time? Conner his done well as now he is 12 years old but growing taller. Previously hips and leg ex-ray I pushed for. 👌 that when the surgeon told us to stretches. But now as I explained. His hips are good. Maybe a tiny bit.. Forward. Do you feel as hard for you to see. I or we go to a sports physio I'm not sure!? Ehh bit frustrated. Like a guessing game! ( was originally because was a bad idea put kids in fip flops scuffs not holding the feet together.. So I urge Mum's parents no flop scuffs on feet as hips get thrown forward. Bad alignment. You should seen the difference in a photo omg! I believe that's why people drown. As all unbalanced. 100% If he never did his correct stretches his knees and hips would have to be broken by a surgeon. So I urge every parent to think about good shoes on there boys, especially as their strong bones!
