I bought mine in '97 as travel guitar. It's been all over the world. I didn't know the story behind it until now. I always thought it was special, now I know it.

I really appreciated this piece, I got really excited when I found a George Gruhn signed label inside a Papoose P-2 I just recently purchased! I’ve owned 6 Papoose guitars over the years, including a P4K (which I REALLY should have kept). anyway…thanks for the video, and this story! I’ll never let this P2 go!

Hello David, Thank you very much for your GREAT comment & for Watching! When we were at George's store and deciding on which " next guitar " to shoot for the Show, I immediately looked over at the Papoose hanging on the wall and said, " Hey George, Can We PLEASE shoot the Papoose next? " Of course, he agreed & the rest was history! The Papoose is truly a GREAT invention of George's as is the entire Tacoma line of guitars! Update - George Gruhn is manufacturing this style of instrument again. Look elsewhere on youtube to see a tour of his new factory in Tennessee. He says that up to 5000 instruments a month will be made there, beginning with a standard sized guitar and later including bass, baritone and "high-pitched" ones like this Papoose. Certain Tacoma features have been changed, such as the shapes of the headstock, soundhole and bridge, but the concept is the same and the pecs will be similar.

I have a Tacoma papoose electric guitar, that is just a mini electric with the same octave range as any electric. It and 3 others including a chief, acoustic papoose, and more traditional style acoustic that is a favorite of mine to this day, were given to me to try for a period of time while I was involved in the music scene in the Olympia/Tacoma/Seattle area(late ‘90’s)The rep called me repeatedly about 6 months later, first demanding full msrp payment in cash. He then proceeded to threaten me over the next few weeks, but didn’t want the guitars back, just cash. I finally got in touch with Tacoma who informed me that the rep had been fired months ago for similar actions, and that I could keep the guitars and report to the police if he contacted me again. I really hate that they went out of business. Edit: They had a unique sound, and were a great value for the price.
