I remember when Killboy started his blog back in 01, before social media and RU-vid, I could hardly wait for his weekly postings. I knew my sport bike friends went there a few times a year and my Italian scooter riding friends as well, but I live so close to the infamous Rt.10/22 route which is often described as the Isle of Mann of the midwest that I never think of riding four hours for more curvy roads. I'm pretty sure I found out about Killboy from The Church of Choppers blog... I should probably ride it someday so I can say I did.
Riding 300 miles out of your way is nothing, it's all riding. I have rode the Tail of the Dragon several times. You need to do it if you can since it is world famous. It's definitely not my favorite ride. I have rode the mountains of North and South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky it is endless great riding. Thanks a lot- now you got me wanting to take a bike trip!!!😂😂😆😆 Be careful, ride safe.
The road looks like a regular road compared to what we have here in BC, but the tail is a destination and an institution, gotta respect that. Would love to do it one day.
For sure, you can definitely find roads like that, however, that much jam packed in 11 miles I feel like is pretty rare - I would definitely go out of my way to do it again 🐉
Once Again you Nailed it !! Im in the Santa Cruz Mtns in Nor Cal ..The ride here is Hwy 9 from Boulder Creek to Hwy 35 Then North to Alices Restaurant . My brother moved to Dandridge TN , went to visit in October and rented a Bagger for a day and think its a bit over rated ! Wish I had my 01 FXDX there !
Honestly, the head and back of the dragon are better than the tail.... that's my opinion. Love the tail and it's aura but if you're in that part of the country, there's killer roads all over the place. Backwoods VA, NC, TN and WV are insane
