The Tale of Watcher's Woods Recap & Review - The Midnight Society 

Unisex names (especially for girls) were common I the 90s. Hell Samantha Steven's was known as "Sam" in Bewitched in the 1960s.

This a very memorable episode and one of the ones Nick played on rerun a lot. And the beginning sacred me as a kid, about the woods always moving. I know you kind of joked about it, and I agree as an adult it loses some of its logic, but to a 7/8/9 who would frequently hike on weekends (a small state park, in the smallest state mind you, with painted marked trees, which just did a mile loop) that concept scared the shit out of me. And as a cub scout back in the day, the campus. Scarry shit. The one thing that always knocked this episode down for me, and no fault to the episode fault (I don't know when exactly it was filmed) but it came out right after Hocus Pocus. So, as a kid a automatically compared these three witches to the Sanderson Sisters, and I think it is safe to say there is no comparison the Sanderson Sisters had more development, hence a better antagonist, and what I was expecting three witch sisters to look and act like.

Been waiting to hear yhis one. Great as always. Scary. Can't wait until Tale of thd Quiksilver.

This wasn't the only Nickelodeon show that Jewel Strait starred in. She also played Catalina in the first season of a little show called Space Cases and she was really funny. Sadly they "killed" her off and replaced her with the bland-as-hell Suzee for the rest of the show.

BTW Jewel Staite was an actress on another show on nickelodeon called space cases . Just some interesting triva I wanted to share

This was an awesome episode, I loved it! A friend of mine met the actor who played as “The Watcher”, she said that he’s a pretty awesome and nice dude in real life.

Your "leaves" joke actually did get a laugh out of me just now! Well, moreso your reaction to it. The Watcher was a pretty lame villain as far as doing anything for the plot. The Sam thing nowadays reminds me of the early Family Guy episode when the Griffins move to the deep south in witness protection. Chris becomes close with a tomboy named Sam until he realizes she's a girl.

I saw this episode a day before I started secondary school and the main brunette witch looked exactly like my Religious Education teacher Mrs Kennard. I could never break the connection to her haha

Memorable episode scared me to death this was an amazing episode i thoroughly enjoyed it very much i wished it wouldve rained out the episode so we had a 2 parter

Season 3 is probably the best season overall

The first "mouse" looks like a gerbil, the bucket is indeed mice, sincerely, someone who has kept pet mice and rats, lol.

My favorite episode. I found this on IMDB: The bucket of "rats" that the hags place next to Kelly are white lab mice, a human-bred variety typically sold as domestic pets or used for animal testing. They do not exist in the wild and they are not rats.

To be fair, Watcher's Woods could be like the Pine Barrens. You have to go to the right place if you're looking for the Devil

Seem like this episode aired the week after Tucker joined. I was only 9 back then so maybe I'm remembering things differently. I do remember back then using my calculator to see how long ago 1919 was. Back then it was 75 years. That is now 105 years. Didn't realize Sam was only a year older than Tucker. For some reason Sam seemed so much older than Tucker to me back then. JoAnna Garcia Swisher(Sam) the only one who was a real American I think. I never knew most of the cast where Candian until recently.

Another good review of a great episode. BTW, lamb head is delicious - especially lamb cheeks and lamb tongue. No seriously! If you have tried Middle Eastern food, and had roasted lamb's head whole - and especially whole roasted lamb - IMHO, it is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. (Take that vegan shit and flush it down the crapper where it belongs) I do agree that the Watcher could be more intimidating, but it overall was very good. BTW, as for Sarah, that interaction with the Watcher, I think she merely tapped into the female Terminator mode like in that famous commercial from the 1980s/1990s about sexual harassment. If you don't remember or haven't seen it, it shows a woman at work being acosted by a sexual pervert boss who doesn't respect her personal space - until, in "Sarah" fashion says - "No, this is sexual harassment here, and I don't have to take it". Sarah basically just tapped into that, or as my brother's say - "She grew a pair of ovaries" (metaphorically speaking) BTW, you missed a perfect opportunity for a joke about the guy from "Birdemic" obsessing about the "Spruce Bark Beetles". :P Shame we never got to hear a random pointless mountain lion. :P lol As for the next episode.... oy.... no spoilers but it was not scary at all. It is about as scary as someone being afraid of plaster of paris, grass, clay, or cotton balls - HOWEVER, indeed, there IS much fodder for the riffing fire.
