I don't know much about that argument as I only played age of empires and civilisation games during that time but im pretty sure that was a bit more of a valid argument as tds did Copt alot off of tb

The entire TDS and TDX argument back and forth feels like a sandbox of children wailing on each other for whose sand bucket is better. It sucks. THEY BOTH COLLECT SAND.
when i see this argument i imagine the 2 cakes scenario, people say one game is worse than the other but there’s 2 games! there used to be only 1 popular tower defend game for the longest time and now there’s tons of them
They both inspire each other and are inspired by lots of media and other TD games tbh... At the end of the day it's a game people need to stop arguing it's a very similar genre
You are saying EXACTLY what I was think about this situation. The only other thing I would say is tds is releasing similar updates to attract new player and old player because tds can use their population to get to new players before tdx.
This is giving me mad nostalgia to the tb vs tds beef, except with that beef there was actually a little bit to talk about, meanwhile with tdx and tds there is nothing
While I don’t think having the same ideas at the same time is bad, I do think it would be more interesting if tds tried to bring a new mechanic into the mainstream roblox td genre instead of responding to tdx competition by following the same roadmap. I think adding a new gimmick like maybe a sort of rhythm game type concept or teleporting enemies would be fun.
tds has been pretty barebones to me since solar eclipse in its gameplay, i think it does need something new to spice things up in the mechanics department
tdx being a tb sequel is fitting as a huge community drama and the devs aggressively copying each other every chance they get are back just like the tds vs tb days
Ive been playing tds for 5 years at this point and, from what ive seen with their track record(most obviously them copying the entirety of tb) this copying isnt new for them. This in combination with tds adding tons of p2w has caused people to have enough and start pointing out the obvious stealing and "inspiration" they've taken from tdx. And me personally, I respect these people for pointing out the obvious faults of below and the tds team as a whole. I hope that TDS will change and start being more original, but i doubt they will.

Like why is people fighting about tds copying tdx, tdx copying tds. Like dude they're like equal they both sometimes update in a week. Im glad you pointed this out this argument about this whole topic is just stupid and entertaining to watch them fight.
Maybe once a number of content creators who have all the cult like fan bases of both communities say something about this, the said cult like fans will pull the plug. Even I’m tired of arguing over the problem with military TD games and how it’s easy to trip over the lines of other military TD games because there are only so many things one can do to create something original and (somewhat) realistic in a style like this. I never thought about Below releasing updates at similar times as TDX to try to reel players back in, but that’s just a basic marketing strategy dawg. That’s actually a smart move, but so many people just brush it off as stealing, while it takes more than 3 days to fully develop a military base rework and release it just a little after TDX adds their tanks. Also, about the whole, “both games copied Bloons,” argument, there is a fine line between stealing and taking inspiration. I think most of us should know this by now, but apparently not. Yeah, there are things that both roblox games have that are “created by btd,” but this isn’t stealing. Bloons has a lot of content, but there isn’t anything directly STOLEN from the game.
They are tower defense games and there's so much that you can do without being called a copy, also how did they copy BTD6? They are just in the same fucking genre
To me they're all original. I like TDX more than TDS, I still play TDS from time-to-time and also while they do similar things it still takes time to plan them so it's just kind of a consistence.
I sometimes don’t even understand why the whole “X copied Z” is even a thing. Like yeah when TDS started it was an exact copy but as time passes by on it became its own identity in some sort. Like I’ll admit I was one of those people who would argue the TB fans or just basically anyone at that time, but later on it really just become a stupid back and forth argument unless about who copied who’s game. It’s a great video that someone with an actual brain for once brings this out.
It's not even about TDS and TB, TDS added perks like a few weeks after TDX added it with literally almost the exact same stuff with slight changes. I personally dont care, TDS has gone downhill ever since that one halloween event, they just adding the most irrelevant stuff that no one asked for. If they actually wanna steal the players back then they need to add more "original" stuff, not original as in "no one has done it before" but original as in, "no one has done it on roblox yet and maybe I can change it up a little so it is its own thing".

This sort of childish game of slandering each other back and forth is incredibly annoying. It doesn't help when John is actively encouraging this stuff (indirectly) as well. While I believe both parties are "copying" each other - it doesn't matter. It's childish to care so much about it.
As a fan of TDX, I find this conflict to be dumb. The concepts and ideas in TDS and TDX are not particularly unique to their respective genres; rather, they are common ideas that can be found in many other tower defense games. Furthermore, the fact that John_Roblox is a developer for both games further proves how dumb this feels.
Just tb vs tdx but back then tb had the more “right argument” (tb did come out first and below was inspired key word INSPIRED by tb) But now the beef is just dumb
Roblox TD genres these days! back in our time. We had Kingdom Rush, Bloons 1-6, MTD, MvZ and Carrot Defense as our main supply of content! and they are actually unique!

whenever i see these arguments, its ALWAYS about "uhm this thing released after TDX does it!" or "yeah TDS is going unoriginal because of TDX and TB lolololollol" the average people (i say average, not all of them, keep that in mind) that says TDS has copied TDX's work were Rear or Vice admirals both fandoms have the worst provocateurs yet they always get their job done really fast, its annoying (you can argue about some stuff i say here, i allow it, but not to an extent)

I'm honestly glad someone is actually talking about this and I find it down night hilarious how people are saying blank is copying blank scratch that those games are copying blank. I just want to say why does it matter like seriously are you guys don't even have their facts straight because mercenary base was in development way before then also the consumable items were also in development before TDX even came out I'm pretty sure. Also I don't really get the whole TD yet is copying Tower battles who cares isn't that game Dead. I couldn't care less who copied who, i just enjoy playing both games lol. My friends always tell me "yeah but this copied that" like i literally don't care it's not gonna change anything and I can still find fun in the game even if its a copy.

It is basic competition but the way tds is doing it is not that good. Id say instead of dropping something similar to tdx to compete, drop something else that has been in the works.
FR the fact that they are saying blank copied blank in the first place is stupid, BUT TDS DIDNT EVEN COPY TDX which proves they are 8 year olds bc tds is an old game so they wouldnt know when the stuff got leaked (im talking about the consumables btw)
I actually think that most/half of the people who plays tdx doesn't play tds, the tdx fan base is basically the remnant of the fan base of tbz, tb, and other td games (even the one that still updates like th, wtd, and ctd) united
TDS is sorta getting inspired by TDX but I don't think the people who are toxic over this actually know that copy means copy pasted, which TDS updates def are not copied they're just similar things. Even if they are using TDX's ideas, both games are good and no one should care. An update TDS copies from TDX is better than no update.
It's better that we should just ignore the toxic debate and just minding our own business without people ruining the fun in the game instead just be normal and just enjoy the games that people made instead debate whos better

for the players, imagine how YOU would feel if some bigger game copies your game if you were a developer and as a result lose money because it draws players away from your game
TDS has had these features in mind before TDX was conceived. But... I'd be fine with TDS copying how TDX does it because TDX is doing it a lot better. lol

@@MaoZedowner You can say to any game on roblox Dusty trip is copy of old game made by russian developers, Piggy is copy of Granny, Entry point is copy of Payday2, Item Asylum is copy of Allusion, tycoon games are copy of eachother, Funky friday is copy of Fnf, murder mystery 2 is copy of Garry's mode minigames and ect
