To show you hes a true prodigy, Derrick Trucks was only 20 years old when he became the official replacement for Duane Allman in the Allman brothers band. And that was after playing with them on the road on and off for almost 5 years... he's one of the few people who I have seen be on the same stage as Warren Haynes and cause a debate on who's better.

Can't remember where I read it but just the other day a music critic stated that Derek Trucks IS the best guitarist alive today! Yikes, but the more I listen I think he may be right. Best of many, many greats.
That song, Derek's guitar work and her voice just take me to heaven....listen to it almost every night right before I crash...makes for a relaxing beautiful way to close out the day!
Derek Truck's uncle played drums for the Allman Brothers. Susan Tedeschi is his wife - she is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston. She has a great voice and he is an amzaing guitar player. You would love Make Someone Happy when they play with Santana.
They are one of those bands you MUST see live if ever given the chance! Susan sounds like an Angel, Derek sometimes just closes his eyes and jams, unbelievable. So glad the music gods put these two together❤
There’s a video of Derek Trucks with BB King where BB tells him to play a solo. After the solo BB tells him it’s one of the best solos he’s heard. You can see the jealousy in John Mayer’s face. Lol.

I'm usually not one to have a celebrity crush but, I have a mad crush on Susan Tedeschi. Here's the strange part. I love the look on her face when she looks at her husband Derek Trucks plays. Look at the video of them playing the Eric Clapton song Any Day at The Cross Roads Festival and you will see what I mean. She's in love.
I love this version of this song. This is one of those songs that can make the whole world feel good. This is what music is supposed to do and that is to touch the hearts of all listening. The guitar solo can make you cry all kinds of tears. One of the greatest musical performances I have ever heard...and I have heard billions!!!

I had the good fortune to book her for a blues festival back in 1998, and everyone at this small town festival (myself included) was in awe. We all knew we were watching a star.

This was one of Clapton's Crossroads Concerts, and was the first time I ever heard these guys. Around 2006 I think. First new band to turn me on in 40 years!
@@NealB123 After hearing Eric Clapton when DTB was his touring band he came to Iowa. Saw him, 2nd row center for $35, I think. Blew my sox off! Now, with TTB they just keep getting better and better! Thank you Lord for these amazing folks.... fills me up with happiness! BTW DTB still does a few live shows... hard to find them but they still (pre-corona) play a bit but sadly missing a couple of the greats.
Derek Trucks (blond ponytail on the red Gibson SG) is one of the most compelling players around these days. His uncle (Butch) was the long time drummer for The Allman Brothers - Duane Allman played on Eric Clapton's band Derek And The Domino's 'Layla' LP, one of the single greatest Rock albums ever made - Trucks was named after Eric's fictitious band leader name, Derek. Derek toured with The Allman Brothers for years and then toured with Clapton himself. After he and Susan Tedeschi jammed, they eventually got married and today record and tour as The Tedeschi Trucks Band. She is married to the guitar player, Derek Trucks who was in The Allman Brothers Band. He is an amazing slide guitarist. He is Butch Trucks nephew, the white drummer in The Allman Brothers Band. Side note, the black drummer in The Allman Brothers Band used to play for Otis Redding. The bass player in this video played in The Allman Brothers Band as well. He played with Derek in The Dereck Trucks Band.

If you like Susan (& who doesn't?) you'd love Bonnie Raitt. I'd LOVE to see you react to "Love Letter" Live at Farm Aid 1990. Bonnie's a multi Grammy winner, known for her bluesy style & slide guitar. When she was a kid, her dad was a Broadway musical star. Instead of going into that type music she took off to learn from some of the great old bluesmen. And did she ever!
She was on the road with her band and husband Derek with his; they put them together to get some time with each other. Derek's uncle, Butch Trucks, was an original allman brother. There's video of Derek playing with the Allmans as a 14 year old.
Derek Trucks uncle was one of the 2 original drummers with the Alman Brothers Band. I saw them live 3 times in 1969 and 1970. Greatest Jamming performance ever.
The guitar player (Derek Trucks) is the nephew of Butch Trucks (drummer) from the Allman Brothers Band. Grew up around Duane Allman and Dickie Betts as well as Warren Haynes. May Butch RIP. His legacy lives on in this wonderful family of musicians...

I have some of her music before the merger with Trucks, great blues performer. Anyway my kids took me to the Chicago Theater to see Tedeschi Trucks. Twelve people on stage, backup singers were award winners, musicianship out of this world. Great concert.

I NEVER miss a chance to see TTB in concert!! They put on a show like few others!! I've been following Derek since he was a kid. He and Susan are fabulous together. They remind me of Chris and Morgane Stapleton.

This concert was the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago in 2010 at the Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois on June 26, 2010 before at least 28,000 fans. The Festival put on by legendary blues guitarist Eric Clapton, goes to support the Crossroads Rehab Center in Antigua. Derek Trucks has one of the sweetest most identifiable sounds with that guitar. I saw the Derek Trucks band back n the day before he was with Susan. Gotta see them live soon hopefully.
Kofi Burbridge on the organ passed away in 2019 (Hear attack from a previous heart surgery), the bass player Oteil Burbridge is now with Dead and company (A resurrected Greatful Dead band with John Mayer filling the void left by the passing of Jerry Garcia in 1995). This is my favorite tune by the TTB band, it was written by backup vocalist Mike Madison. Got to see them live in Virginia Beach, 2017.The band began as a fusion between Susan Tedeschi's band and Derek Trucks in 2010. A large band with a horn section, 2 drummers, an organ player, a bass player, a lead guitar, a rhythm guitar and a few backup vocalists. Nice reaction, TY. I am not an expert in any musical instrument, but I love to watch Derek Trucks play slide and I love Susan's voice. The band is currently touring
Derrick Trucks is Duane and Gregg Allmans nephew. His daddy was Butch Trucks the drummer of the Allman Brothers and a founding member. Love Susan’s voice! I wish that they would come to the Amphitheater by my house again but they may be too big for that now. Beautiful song.
Jamel - The bassist in this band (Oteil Burbridge) was the last and final bassist in the Allman Brothers Band before they called it quits in 2014. He's played in quite a few other big bands. Also, Trucks (slide guitarist) -- his uncle was Butch Trucks, one of the two original drummers for the Allman Brothers. Derek joined when he was very young.
