That's correct! Eddie started recording his solo album in the winter of 1970 and completed it in February 71. He completed his contractual obligations with The Tempts until April 1971, where he played his final concert with them. He also released "All By Myself" in April. It was very quick for him. Such a talented guy 😍

Otis didn't have too many leads, but he had a few. He has a very mellow voice. If you'd like my recommendation on a couple of songs he had lead on, listen to "Don't Send Me Away" from the Lot O'Soul album as well as "This Guy's In Love With Me" from the The Temptations London Talk of the Town album

The movie has a lot of inaccuracies, especially when it comes to Paul. So in the winter of 1970, Eddie told The Tempts of his intentions of leaving the group. They agreed because of too much tension, however, they ask that he fulfill some TV and concert obligations, as well as help find a replacement. So he stayed until April, even help finding a replacement, which was Ricky Owens. So, to answer the other part of your question, yes, Paul was with the group during Ricky's short time. During that time, Richard was touring with The Tempts in case Paul needed to miss a show or needed him to step in, which was rare. When Ricky was fired, Richard actually took over. So in the Summer of 1971, some of the shows it was Paul, Otis, Melvin, Richard and Dennis. Then about the time Paul was retiring, they found Damon. So Paul did perform with Damon for a very short time. After Paul's last concert in July, Richard officially took Paul's place. Paul stayed on as The Tempts official choreographer and professional advisor until his passing in 1973.
