They got a video no audio w her David Ruffin does such ansimilar feat .Otis introduces him as he was at one of their concerts. I luckily came across it and cant remember any of the particulars. I think he was singing My Girl.

They were "lip-synching" during this telecast but I heard him hold that note in person. He was one of the greatest.

Also, listen to Jennifer Warnes' version of "Don't make me over". As the song prepares to close, she holds a C note!

reallyblessed Not one showed up to Ollie's funeral. I watched his funeral and not one of the temptation's were there. His wife and son and his 2 daughter's were so sad the loss of their father.

I worked Ali’s funeral I still have his obituary he used to go to my church and you are right I didn’t see any Temptations there at the funeral.

@Mike Wall Ali-Ollie was the absolute best! He didn't even need a microphone and you could hear him at the back of a large theater. He didn't need music. He could blow singing acapella. I had the great pleasure of meeting him, a very cool, nice brother. Thanks for watching.

@@DetroitLives313 my group worked with the Temps beginning in 1971. Ali Ollie Woodson is the best Temptations lead singer ever. When Theo Peoples came he was a notch below but close they shared lead on Some Enchanted Evening that combination was better than David and Paul Dennis and Paul and Dennis and Richard and Ali and Richard. Theo Peoples was a monster too.

@@brendaharper5846 absolutely. To this day Ali Woodson has a bigger music catalog than David, Eddie and Dennis combined. Working with and talking shop with the Temptations was one of the best experiences The Four Tops were great to talk to as well.

Ronn Howard I'm in 100% agreement I saw him four times with the Tempts in the 80's and 90's HE COULD SING !!!!!! Forgive me for saying this the Tempts "New lead singer " looks like Suge Knight in a tux and cannot carry any notes like Ollie......... Ollie's voice was UNREAL !!!!!!!!

I hear you Gary, I'm from Detroit and I am a singer. I definitely love the Temps ( especially when Ali Ollie Woodson became the lead but i still have to roll with The Mighty Dramatics as the Baddest singing group out of Detroit period and that ever touched microphones (their from Detroit as well).

@@qharper3827 sorry bro I'm a singer too sang with a group over 30 years worked with them all except the Jacksons. No doubt LJ Reynolds is a beast and so was Ronnie Banks. But no group and I mean no group was the Temptations equal. By far the greatest group of all times. Man for man the Temptations are just the best. None of the others could have survived and stayed true to who they are with 17 changes in personel. I would take David. Dennis and definitely Ali Ollie Woodson over Leon Reynolds, Eddie Kendricks over Ron and no base was equal to Melvin. Not only are the Temps better they dressed much much better. The Dramatic were not a well dressed group. And the Temptations have much better choreography. Love LJ worked with them a dozen times or more but The Temptations are on a different level. The Greatest Singing group of all time.

No question about it. The Dramatics are good but the Temptations are on a different level.

My one regret is when we worked with the Temptations David and Eddie were gone they had Dennis and the closest tenor to Eddie they ever had Damon Harris , Eddie's first replacement. Damon, now deceased was from Baltimore MD, I'm from NYC but met my group in Va.

Like i told a gentleman on here i sang with a very good group over 30 years of my life we met in high school like many others. We worked with them all except the Jacksons we worked with the Temps at least 11 times. Unfortunately for us David and Eddie were gone but our first gig with them they had the first and best replacement for Eddie they have had to this day, Damon Harris He was almost identical in tone to Eddie since then all the replacements have an Eddie sound including their current tenor Ron but Damon was Eddie Jr. The Temptations are without question the greatest group in history. One guy here says the Dramatics are better they are good The Temptations are Great.

He was the only lead replacement who actually filled David Ruffin's shoes. Dennis Edwards was great, but his vocals were not as clear and crisp as those of Ruffin or Woodson. Clearly, this is only my opinion; many others have a different opinion.
