I hunted northern WI national forest for 23 years. Awesome deer hunting until the last 7 ish years after the wolves were re introduced to our area. Deer hunting totally dried up unless you were hunting near cabins where the locals were feeding. Also, it seems our logging became non existent, thus eliminating all the new aspen re generation which the deer love. After 20 years on the same road, last year dad explored new area and shot a nice buck. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family.
Be careful how many grouse you shoot in any one area. People impact grouse numbers far more than most think. To there are other people shooting the easy ones too. If not careful the grouse population could be similar to deer population
Happy Thanksgiving all! I predict you aren't going to see many deer near the tent for many years. The wolves need to starve themselves out and then be properly controlled by fish and game. Good luck with that.
BTW, they're doing some big clear cuts here in NE Wisconsin as well. And what happens is they usually come back dog hair thick popple that after about 3 years provides about zero deer habitat. It seems that without the 2nd part of creating deer habitat by logging, if fire is absent it doesn't do much for either deer or grouse. Edge is the answer and cutting alone does not do much. It takes more thought and manipulation than that. I think those big clear cuts don't really do what foresters have for years been saying they do. I walked right through the middle of one yesterday and didn't see a single deer track. In an area where 7 years ago I was happy to hunt. An area that in the late 60's had a large number of deer.
You should consider fixing that heater like you talk about with the intake! The smell of diesel will hang around months later, fishing opener2024!Melissa will never be happy with that thing,2024 fishing opener she will be in tent outside or your dad's cabin?
Joe, same problem here in Michigan in the UP. They opened up wolf hunting one year then environmental groups shut it down. Wolves are killing deer left and right. It’s destroying the population. A sad day when politics takes priority over conservation. Hope things get better for both of us. Thanks for another video.
My lord Joe… I have been a subscriber for a few years now. I have to say,, every time you take a trip to your dad’s cabin, i am astonished at the craftsmanship, your dad has in building that cabin.. Absolutely beautiful!!
Last few weeks they have been logging here in north central Minnesota. The deer hear the machines and head straight for them. I couldn't believe it. They love the tree tops, and chips.
These videos were deer hunting camp videos, now they are like camping videos. Since I have no one to go hunt with, your videos of your family deer camp were the next best thing I have enjoyed for many years, it was almost like coming along with you to camp each year. I hate Wolves. Sorry to see what has happened and it is not just you but other channels are well.
Hope you had a happy thanksgiving Joe. Your videos are very enjoyable. Thanks for including us in your day to day life. Peace and good health to you and your loved ones in the approaching new year. 🦃
The intake for those heaters is actually the little hose. The flexible one that comes off the thing you pointed at is actually just the air that gets heated so having both of those tied in to the tent would be the best choice. Another thing you can do is you can make that intake hose much much longer and get it out-of-the-wayof the exhaust that’s the problem you’re smelling that diesel
