The Three Passes Trek is in Nepal absolutely stunning. The Himalayan vistas are breathtaking, the people are incredibly friendly and the Dal Bhat is tasty. This trek takes you over 3 high passes; Renjo La, Cho La and Kongma La, all over 5,000 meters (16k feet). A little swing to Everest Base Camp is frosting on the cake. I did this trek in mid-November to early December, there's no snowstorms at this time, but it's a little chilly at night.
This episode highlights one of the most difficult, yet rewarding days of the entire trek. High winds made for treacherous conditions on Cho la Pass. Crossing the glacier was really fun, and a bit sketchy, I'm really glad that I had my micro spikes with me. We even had a doggie companion follow us for the entire day (and later realized that he had been with us for 4 days!). I even managed to get some pretty good drone shots in this video. Beautiful Gokyo is the perfect reward after a long day.
