The Three Passes Trek is in Nepal absolutely stunning. The Himalayan vistas are breathtaking, the people are incredibly friendly and the Dal Bhat is tasty. This trek takes you over 3 high passes; Renjo La, Cho La and Kongma La, all over 5,000 meters (16k feet). A little swing to Everest Base Camp is frosting on the cake. I did this trek in mid-November to early December, there's no snowstorms at this time, but it's a little chilly at night.
THANKSGIVING in the Himalayas! Today I trek up and over Kongma La pass, the first of the three passes, and down into Lobuche. Each step of the way, I reflect on all the things that I'm thankful for in this life. Everest Base Camp is right around the corner...

I think it was somewhere on this trip that you dreamed Ali into existence. We always think that someone else will make our lives better and complete us when in truth with unwavering self inquiry we see that we are completely full and nourished from within. Blessings Ryan for your unwavering commitment. :)

I know, and now I even know how to focus it:) I was honestly very timid with it in Nepal, barely knew how to fly it and charging the battery was a pain in the ass up there...when I go back again, I'll be ready! *also, damn good thing I bought the DJI Care, I'll be getting a new one soon!

Ryan, you skipped the glacier crossing and made it look too easy! Definitely the hardest and longest (and scariest) day of the Three Passes, I found.

Hey Ryan ! Thank you for your amazing vidéos, and for taking time to shoot and post them !! I actually got a question : i'm planning to do this trek next April with my gf, we're pretty motivated and fit, we've done some treking before, but never that long and that high (i've been to 6000m once, but my gf's never been higher that regular french moutains, something like 2500m). We're actually thinking about skipping Kongma La, doing only Cho La and Renjo La. Cause we're feeling that it's the most difficult pass on that trail, and it can get really tought in April due to the snow. What do you think of that ? Is that smart ? Or is it just overthinking and we need to improvise when we'll be on the field ;) ?
@duzer
@duzer 6 лет назад
I think that if you do the other 2, you can certainly do Kongma La. I was around lots of people who weren't all that fit, and had never been at altitude and they pulled it off. YOU GOT THIS!

Hey Ryan, if you are alone on the trekk you need to pay double for a room with two beds or you can find single rooms? What was your main water sources, can you find clean mountain springs out there or you have a filtration system? Can you find tuna fish cans for sale on this higher elevation locations?Also can you buy yak cheese to have it on the trekk? I think i would need my protein intake among all of those carbs from Dal Bat. Also can you razor shave somewhere up there or you just use your electric shaver? My beard get crazy itch if im not shaving more than a week. Would be a bad ideea to trekk with my Osprey Farpoint 55l backpack? Is more of a travel/backpacking bag but i feel it very comfortable and i like it cause it opens from the side all around and i can have access to all my stuff not like the backpacks that opens from the top, i dunno how would perform on a long trekk though. Also can you tell me which one of the three passes is the hardest and why you choose to do it counter clocwise? In what period of the year you made the trekk? How cold it got outside, and what about the temperature from inside the rooms in night time? I know its a lot of question but im planning this trekk for the next year and i would be grateful for the info, thanks!
