The Three Passes Trek is in Nepal absolutely stunning. The Himalayan vistas are breathtaking, the people are incredibly friendly and the Dal Bhat is tasty. This trek takes you over 3 high passes; Renjo La, Cho La and Kongma La, all over 5,000 meters (16k feet). A little swing to Everest Base Camp is frosting on the cake. I did this trek in mid-November to early December, there's no snowstorms at this time, but it's a little chilly at night.This is THE FINAL DAY! We check out a beautiful monastery before making the easy walk back to Namche. After 13 days of trekking, it feels amazing to finally be on the home stretch and reminisce about all the incredible beauty that we have experienced. This was truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I LOVE NEPAL!

Hi Ryan! I'm so impressed by your videos. You are a great person, I love the way you've done this trekking, with such a big respect for people you've met there and for those mountains. And a big, constant smile on your face!:) I'm going to do 3P trekking with my friend this October. Now I need to plan this trip precisely, earn money from scratch and prepare my body for Himalayas. This is my biggest dream so all my motivation is with me. And it's bigger after watching your videos! Thank you so much, I wish you all the best, high five from Poland!;)

These videos were fantastic, beautiful, educational, inspirational. Your pure joy and thankfulness for God's beautiful creation brought tears to my eyes, and your thoughtful sharing of your feelings of freedom and the happiness and loneliness made you real. I felt like I was there with you and was never bored with the experience. I am researching a novel where one of my characters is from Thame, and your video transported me to this place. I am grateful. I almost never write any comments anywhere, but I felt compelled to let you know how meaningful your videos were to me and I will never forget them. Well done. You have touched me and others in a meaningful way. Your thankfulness is contagious, and though you never thanked him, I thank God for you, my friend! Though we have never met and likely never will I thoroughly enjoyed sharing the trail with you. Dave

Excellent series of videos! I watched and enjoyed all of them. If you see this comment and have a sec to respond I was wondering what temperature rating sleeping bag you brought? I'm hoping to not freeze every night when I'm there in october/november, but having watched this I'm figuring it's probably inevitable. Anyways, thanks for the superb content!

Amazing video series! Really beautiful area and you had such a great attitude!! I watched your packing video and then ended up watching the whole series in one go! I am planning to do this at the end of February/beginning of March. I saw you told someone else it's as easy as getting a map and walking... but do you think it is that easy/safe to do so if I have no trekking experience? I've done plenty of hiking during the day but never spent more than 7 hours hiking, and never by myself. I would love to try this on my own, as well as save the money by not going with a company but I'm wondering if it would be worth it to pay for a guide so I don't get lost.

Hi Ryan! This 5* series has inspired us to go on the 3 passes trek, and we're planning to start on about October 5th this year. I just have some questions in relation to trip length, hope you can help? It'd be my (age 34) and my wife (age 31) first time in Nepal, first time at above 3500m, but we're both quite fit. I commute+MTB 120km a week and my wife runs 5km every morning or 2... so while we're nowhere near as fit as you running marathons and riding down Baja (loved that series too btw!), I'm not sure how to gauge our pace. Your video series is 11 episodes, and seems to indicate you did the whole trek (Lukla to Lukla) in 12 days including rest days, is this right? We're planning to do it similar to you without a guide/sherpa/porter and I'm not sure how many contingency days to plan in to the trek. Guided tour groups seem to say the 3 passes trek is 18 or 19 days, but I'm guessing (as with other similar things I've done) they have to plan around the slowest person on the trip. Am I being too naive in thinking ~15 days is safe to do this trek, given you did it in 12, we may be slower and may have a bad weather day or 2? Also, did you buy the KTM-Lukla flights when you arrived, or do those need to be pre-booked? Going to re-watch the gear list video now, it's super awesome you put those up too... packing light is the way!! Thanks in advance for any advice, and I can't wait to see the next vid you post :D Peter

Great series to follow Ryan, now i really cannot wait to go in October :) No guide, no porter and maybe a slightly warmer sleeping bag than you had :P What was your sleeping bag rated to? And having those cold nights would you recommend a "warmer" one?
@duzer
@duzer 7 лет назад
You are gonna love it! My sleeping bag was only rated to 30 degrees. I brought it cause it packs down tiny. However, I did have a friend who didn't bring any sleeping bag and just used the blankets at the lodges...my bag, along with the blankets was a good combo...the cold comes more from getting up at night to go to the bathroom, brrrrrrrrr.

Great videos, it feels good to watch them thank you! I was expecting the trail to be a lot more crowded than what I just saw on your videos. I did the Annapurnas/Tilicho lake circuit in November 2015 and it was pretty empty because of the earthquake, I guess the situation hasn't change since :( Which trek do you prefer between Annapurnas andThree passes?
@duzer
@duzer 7 лет назад
Thanks for watching! It's a tough call between the two treks. Three passes is more remote, and harder, but Annapurna has the charm of meeting locals in the villages. Three passes doesn't have as much local flavor...both are great though
