If the end of the world is coming, these are the 3 watches I'm taking with me! Join us on Instagram: / longislandwatch Check out our store online at: www.LongIslandWatch.com Thank you for watching.
Had to be a G Shock in there. That would be my choice for the apocalypse. Unless it was a more formal affair then perhaps my Oceanus. 😁 Stay safe Marc and thanks for keeping with the videos!
Marc, I now have a roll of T.P. on the wall of my hobby room. It's temporarily in the spot that will one day be occupied by a very cool poster. Perhaps a signed poster by a GIANT in the watch industry. Thanks for the light-hearted humor during these times. Be well...... Peace ☮️
@@islandwatch Marc, are the L.I. field/military style watches in stock yet? When they are I'm buying one. Can I get on a waiting list? Or just check site everyday?
Gotta say the good old G-shock 5610 has seen 100% of wrist time in the past couple weeks and will be on for the foreseeable future. Nice to have something I know will handle anything I throw at it. No worries about various cleaners getting on it, and wash it along with my hands every time. Plus, this way I never even have to pause to think about what is on the wrist before doing any cleaning. Sure I guess any of my divers would be fine too, but the G Shock is just made for this. Stay safe all.
Hi Mark: l I really enjoyed the presentation on the three apocalypse watches. Particularly the Sinn. It's nice to see a watch where the minute hand actually goes out to the chapter ring. The multi-function Yes watch is also of particular interest to me. It is definitely a watch for the cognoscenti. (Italian for "knowledgable avid enthusiast").
Thanks for sharing those. The Yes watch is fascinating, I now want that Sinn and the G-Shocks always crack me up. They are ridiculous looking but I know people love them. Please show more from your collection!
Interesting video and topic, Marc! I looked at my collection and I would pick only 2 watches for the apocalypse! 1. Citizen Promaster Diver with Eco-Drive. So, it is 200m ISO certified diver that is solar charged and I think it has the strongest lume of the bunch. I think Jody tested it on Lume Wars and light lasted longer than Rolex Submariner. My definitive choice. 2. Seiko 5 - snk805k2. Green, field like watch that kinda lasts forever. I could pick third watch: G-shock, but it is powered by battery and I'd rather not take simple battery quartz that would die in 2 or 3 years. I imagine it would be pain to search for batteries...
I’d definitely take one or two of my solar atomic G Shocks, Tag Heuer Aquaracer titanium, and a Deep Blue auto 500m diver. Nice picks Marc! Thanks and stay safe. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
15 sec. into your video I saw the TP on the wall. (The writing on the wall?). You are so cool. You made me laugh and that's a good thing. Great video. Yes, Sinn is a MONSTER!
I think I would take my amphibia and gshock gw7900 solar. I have a gshock g510d similar to the one in the video. Very tough watch but sadly not solar. Finally it would have to be the Inox I bought about 6 week's ago.
Ha, funny to see this. I was thinking this back in January, wondering what watches would be best for the apocalypse. My collection for the same: Mechanical: Sinn 104 Quartz: Casio Royale plus a spicy red jelly G-Shock Solar: Citizen Nighthawk and G-Shock Rangeman
Love the post, Mark! Watch two is so unloveable but I like the moon complication and the S.O.L. reference!! Stay safe and happy and healthy, dear internet dude! ✌️👍
How bizarre.. i actually thought along those lines yesterday as to what 3 watches would take, and its not easy as first thought, anyway love the content & a tasty 3.. or 4 to take along, to add ,that YES watch completely blew my mind that thing is something else, glad you fished it out ;-)
Hi Mark, I realise that you have not reviewed every watch on the planet, but can you advise. I normally do my own bracelet link adjustments and have just purchased the Casio Edifice ECB-800D-1AER which has the link adjustment on the inside of the bracelet. How do I tackle this one? Many thanks. Terry Davis
Great video idea! Damasko DA34 is my apocalypse watch. Like the Sinn, it will survive a nuclear blast. But my quarantine watch has been my Seiko 5 SNK809. I have rarely worn it since upgrading my collection and I don't usually wear a watch around the apartment. But in these strange times, I find myself missing my watches, and the Seiko 5 is so small and light, it's comfortable to wear even in sweatpants.
Thanks for the video Marc, three good choices indeed! I'll be visiting Yes watch in a few months. I will probably take my gw-5000 1jf, Srp583, and Zelos Great White 1000m Bronze Diver for the "apocalypse", but I'll put the rest of my 23 watch collection in various pockets of my photography/fishing vest to barter with! 😂😂 Thanks for the video, be safe and healthy!
I have a Citizen titanium Nighthawk, that my ex bought for me while we were in Italy, 6 years ago. I figured I’d beat the shit out of it at work, and I’d just toss it when it looked like crap. I can’t put a mark in this watch and I finally decided that it loves me and I’ll keep it forever.
Hey Mark, just when I finally got the clock on the wall behind you figured out, you change it. Now it'll take me another dozen or so videos to figure out the new one!
in playing along with the theme of this video, what watch would you want for the accuracy of it in the apocalypse? how would you keep an automatic watch accurately set over time?
@@islandwatch yeah I figured as much I asked before I got to the end of the video. Im sad I moved to Vegas from NYC or you would have had me as a customer in store after finding your channel. Thanks for all the info you put out it has been incredible learning about my new obsession from you.
Thanks for a break from the world outside Marc. That Yes watch is really something, I'd like to know more. Too bad they don't do one in solar - that would be the bomb. :-) My regards to you and your family during these strange days. I wish you all the best of health. Take care! PS: Love the TP on the wall!
Thanks for keeping the Longilan spirit, everyone else is thinking transistor radio, food, weapon for protection, important documents, we think watch, car, shoes and phone, don't forget the toilet paper...😦🤗🤔😆
When I read the thumbnail I immediately thought of sinn, the UX GSG9 is one of my grails. Gorgeous looking watches and built to outlast any apocalypse.
I really, really, love the Sinn. Great choice. Myself, I don't own expensive watches, out of my collection it is going to be a G-Shock DW 5610 and an Orient Mako II. Very happy with these watches. Stay save Mark!
If everything else fails, my manual winding Vostok Komandirskie will still be there. Take that, EMP! After that the Citizen Blue Angels. I agree with the g-shock
I love the choices and I will be adding an islander to my wrist come my 50th birthday in September. I love the blue with the sapphire bezel. I hope there will be some available when the time comes. Stay safe and prosperous.
Great, nice, fun interesting video. For me It could be no other than my black bay chrono, build like a tank, 200 m WR, 70 hours PR, silicium Balance spring,, great lume ...
Today I’m wearing a Seiko SNK809 that was my first automatic and a G-SHOCK Rangeman. The Rangeman is my go too SHTF watch but I’d always rock 2 because 2 is 1 and 1 is none.
Mine was a casio Protrec altimeter, barometer, compass, alarms (with snooze) timer, stop watch, solar powered, atomic time. It doesn't have the cool factor of being a mechanical but I have the seiko bottle cap (which I got from you and love ;) for that.
Mark,..that Sinn U1 is over the top. I just ordered an SRP779J1 last night,...and it's on the way to the VERY remote Alaska location where I work as a pro contract firefighter. My quartz chrono (Isobrite 401 T100),..just decided to stop telling time. The stop watch function, including all the hands, work fine, but the second hand won't move in time keeping mode, nor will the hour and minute hands. I ordered batteries that will hopefully arrive in two weeks, just to see if batteries will solve the issues with the quartz watch, but I've got a bad feeling since the stop watch functions all work fine, but the time keeping does not. If I"m lucky, my new Turtle maybe the same plane that will bring the batteries. If batteries solve the problem,...I'm gonna sell it, as it's been recently serviced and documented as passed. Aug of 2018,...had my Isobrite Chrono serviced....and here I am, dead in the water with a watch that is SUPPOSED to have a 54 month battery life. I hate not having it on my wrist, but now it's basically as useful as teats on a boar. Having an automatic will solve that issue for me, and also give me a chance to learn more about them. I've spent a lot of my spare time watching your videos and those of others who are modding these Seikos,...and it gives me something new to learn about. I really like your channel and presentation style and have learned a bunch from you. Stay safe.
Hey there. I ordered a 6105 homage from Sharkey (not from Island Watches) and it arrived without a loom pip. I'll be returning it. Anyway I've been looking around and saw that you offer an Islander turtle, but I can't seem to find it in your store. Are you folks stocking them? Looks really good.
I've found one of my watches for the next Apocalypse (they'll probably come by on a bi-annual basis from now on): A black Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Tough. A Sinn is also on my To-Do list - probably a 556 I, unless I go for something even more rugged like this U1. Some multi-sensor watch as the third option - preferably a solar watch - my Tissot T-Touch only has a 2+ year battery life.
