It’s crazy they’re getting Landry back healthy, didn’t have him at all last season. D-Hop kinda slots all the pass catchers offensively where they should be. Big Jeff was healthy really for the first 7 games last season, had a high ankle sprain the remaining 10 games. A lot of the pieces they let go were expected and not really key contributors. This team is so easily forgotten about, with the moves they’ve made they should be division favorites honestly.

Good episode, just a few notes from a compulsive Titans watcher: Roger McCreary only allowed more yards and receptions because he was the only DB who stayed healthy. He doubles Kristian Fulton's snaps, and Terrance Mitchell was 3rd off the street. Per snap he held up better than Fulton with help or 1 on 1, although i agree there's room to grow and he may play more inside this year. David Long Jr left due to a fued with Mike Vrabel. He and Vrabel disagreed on conditioning and publicly called out Long and Fulton exclusively for not doing enough prep to stay healthy. DeAndre Hopkins isn't the WR3. He's WR1 and it isn't close. Burks couldn't stay healthy and was highly inconsistent. Chig has basically zero rapport with Tannehill. He did all his work in mop up duty with Willis and Josh Dobbs. He's a freak but he's not even close to Hopkins' role, he's a distant 3rd or maybe 4th behind NWI. His role hasn't gone beyond "chig plays" aka screens and wheel routes. The Titans never had a healthy front 4. Harold Landry missed the entire season with a training camp ACL. Autry also constantly missed time.

On JRob, I remember one article in the offseason where it was mentioned that our owner, Amy, told him we can pay AJ 23mil/year. He reportedly tried to start the negotiations at 16mil/year. AJ and his agent stopped talking to him. Then you look at Vrabel's body language and facial expressions when the trade was made. THEN you watch AJ torch us in Philly. Amy probably decided that if he fumbles star talent, he isn't worth keeping, especially if the negotiation rumor is true and he didn't listen to you.

Titans fan here, weighing in on David long situation. He is no longer a Titan due to soft tissue injuries. Vrabes commented on it at the EOY and called out long by name. Long took offense to the comments and neither side ever tried to negotiate. Titans have had too many injuries and so there had to be turnover in that regard. Love the show fellas! This is the only non-titans show that can still provide expert titans analysis! ty

Hey, Titans fan here. Here's some context. 1. Our last GM, Jon Robinson chose to not pay AJ Brown. Common national media headline was, "Why not just pay AJ instead of going for an older vet". We did. We wanted to. Our GM made that choice and it cost him his job (among other reasons) 2. David Long was great! We loved him, but he couldn't stay healthy. That issue being primarily around soft tissue injuries. This is something Vrabel is adamant that the player has to do a good job of maintaining. Vrabel felt the players who were repeat offenders of soft tissue issues and missing time were hurting the football team more than anything, so they moved on.

I think Long caught the repeat offender tag by Vrabel with injuries. Hamstring specifically. They like that style backer, but also have 5-6 guys coming into this season that could rotate in. So many injuries, I think that group felt very rotational and they probably didn’t offer a ton. I assume he wanted to test the market, couldn’t find much better, but found a stacked defense in Miami. Brett, the Bills never picked in the top 5 as part of a tear-down. Need to make a correction here. The year that they were supposed to suck (2017), they finished 9-7, broke the 17 year playoff drought and had to trade up three times from 21 and 22 to 7 (Allen) and 16 (Edmunds). The year after, they went 6-10 and took Oliver with the 9th pick. After that, its been 20s and 30s for picks. Brandon Beane has actually taken a shot at Cincinnati because they needed the 1st and 5th overall picks by way of naturally being a shit team to build a superpower and he never wanted to suck that badly to be in that situation.

Interesting that you mention they'd fit right into the AFC North, since the Oilers were a long time member of the old Central division. They were kind of forced out by the fallout from Modell being a horrible..."team owner"...and as a consolation prize for having to sever their ancestral rivalries, they got to keep the Jags. You dont draft a hidden gem like aj brown (entering his prime) and just give him up with no premeditated suffice backup plan. Vrabel was pissed on cam when they did that on draft night bc if you trade an asset like aj brown it shouldve been widely known weeks prior to get the best return on the trade and not mid draft. The only reason they were even in the playoff game vs 2021 bengals was AJ brown bc Tannehill looked inept and derrick Henry was coming back off injury. They went from winning the division in 2021 to not making the playoffs and watching aj brown help take philly to the super bowl. If Burks hit the ground running and if the titans beat the eagles in the reg season that wouldve been jrobinson best scenario for staying. He literally got fired after they lost 35 to 10, there goes some clarity.

Great Bootleg Football review of the Titans Brett anf EJ. Titans need Ran Carthon to build this team's O-Line and WR and secondary in future seasons, they have a run first identity with Derrick Henry but unless their pass offense improves they will stay close and competitive but unable to compete for AFC Championship with Bengals, Bills, Chiefs and their elite QBs. Tim Kelly has to be better than Todd Downing who was terrible playcalling very predictable and often left the offense in many 3rd and long situations. Talent available was poor due to injuries but offense play calling was also garbage. O-Line and especially Dennis Daley was a big reason for failure to convert on 3rd downs, taking big sacks in crucial moments. Secondary has long been an issue for Titans, Farley is often injured (could of had OT Christian Darrishaw in that draft instead to help O-Line) Kristian Fulton when healthy is a good number 2 but not top 10 lockdown corner. McCreary would be a good press man slot corner but had to cover everywhere as a rookie and got exposed and targeted often. Underrated D-Line stellar with elite run defense with Denico Autry, Teair Tart and Jeffrey Simons. With Harold Landry back and Arden Key should be able to get more pressure off the edge. As not blitzing as often Titans were not getting as much pressure on opposing QBs and secondary could get picked on. They played a lot of Cover 2 and Quarters probably to not give up the big play and play prevent defense but would give up the underneath to players like Kelce and Engram. David Long was great on the field, his speed, tackling and key game sealing interception vs Washington. However too many hamstring injuries was why he was let go in FA to Miami, Al-Shaair should be a good replacement if stays healthy. The 2023 Titans could still be competitive with a great defense. However unless Burks and Phillips breaks out the pass offense will let the team down. D-Hop will help as possession WR to extend drives and is a big upgrade over Robert Woods. The issue will largely come down to health and injuries. O-Line still a large question mark hopefully Skoronski helps but unsure if Dillard and Brunskill/Hubbard are going to provide consistent pass protection for Tannehills last season. I suspect a 9-8 record.
