This was done in 2006, the Dallas Cowboys have yet to reach the NFC Championship since the 1995 season. This year, they were absolutely ass blasted by the Green Bay Packers by a quarterback whom was starting his first season at the helm replacing Aaron Rodgers. Jerry Jones cannot get enough of the camera's on himself, they've had so many pro bowlers and future hall of famers be wasted on the Cowboys. I salute Demarcus Ware for leaving Dallas and finally getting his Super Bowl ring in Denver.
@@thedagothexperienceThat’s a “What If” right there. In 94, Jimmy could have beat the 49ers in the regular season thus securing home field advantage. Even if he lost in the regular season - he was great in revenge games like Saban. As far as the Packers go - they MAYBE get passed Dallas one of those years.
The reasons in the video might explain why Dallas didn’t win more Super Bowls in the 90’s, but as time has gone on, Jerry has more than solidified his share of the blame.
To me the saddest part of this was watching the Cowboys waste Troy Aikman’s career. He won three Super Bowls and barely started reaching his prime. Aikman started taking beatings and was surrounded by mediocre coaches and players.
I never saw this episode until now. I kinda wish this series still existed. By the way, we have a belief in Dallas nowadays that the team is cursed and it’s because Jerry Jones refuses to put Jimmy Johnson in the Cowboys Ring of Honor.
Jimmy Johnson didn't exactly set the NFL on fire as head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 1996-1999. Johnson's record was 36-28, while Miami's previous four years (under Don Shula) was 39-25. Johnson's Dolphins did make the playoffs as wildcards in 3 of his 4 seasons, winning playoff games in 1998 and 1999, but in his last two playoff losses his team was outscored 10-100. Johnson did draft Zach Thomas (5x All Pro, 7 Pro Bowls), Sam Madison (4x AP, 4 Pro Bowls) and Patrick Surtain (2x AP, 3 Pro Bowls), not to mention NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, so he definitely vastly outdid Jerry the GM during that time frame (decent picks like Dexter Coakley, Greg Ellis and Flozell Adams). 15+ years have gone by since this video was made, and the Cowboys have been pretty average with hardly any postseason success along the way. Agreed that most of the onus is on Jerry Jones, so I will continue to blame him.
@@michaelleroy9281 And it didn't help that the Dolphins didn't have a successor in place for Dan Marino. Outside of Tua and Tannehill, the Dolphins sought to “solve” their QB issues through free agency. It has led to the same level of mediocrity the Cowboys have slid into.
In the end as a Cowboy fan, Jerry and Jimmy just couldn't share the spotlight. If Jimmy had been on that 94 team I know for thing that the Cowboys don't go down 21 points after 3 possession. Do they win the game, I don't know, but I do know that the Cowboys wouldn't have shot themselves in the foot if Jimmy had been coach. Still the Cowboys just drafted horribly where Jimmy was great at finding talent in the draft to replace aging players. Jimmy Smith would go onto the Jags and Ron Stone would go to the Giants and play in a Super Bowl against the Ravens. Without Jimmy, Dallas couldn't keep up. Then the injuries as in 96 Jay Novacek retired because of his back and Charles Haley had to semi retire because of his back. With Novacek there wasn't any tight end that could keep up with the stats until Jason Witten came along in 2003. If the Cowboys had kept up then they get a home divisional game against the Panthers most likely instead of going there.
2 NEW Additions would be 1. Philadelphia Eagles. They have been to 3 Super Bowls since Super Bowl XXXIX, winning one time, in that time the Cowboys have been to zero Super Bowls. Meaning the Eagles have won that Division Rival battle! 2. No one can Coach them Right. With Bill Parcells and Mike McCarthy and Jason Garrett, there must be a bad relationship with JErry Jones and those coaches, they choked come Playoff Time.
DALLAS COWBOY FANS, I have been a fan since the Craig Morton era (look it up kids) and I have to let you all know that this suffering we have endured since 1996 is THE JJ CURSE. Lemme explain; We were DESTINED to be the only team ever to win 4 Super Bowls in a row until JJ Jerry's ego caused us to lose JJ Jimmy as head coach. Yes, we managed to win one more without JJ Jimmy but the curse had begun and here we all sit until JJ Jerry returns to dust. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jHLk5f6sX44.html
All I'm hearing is a bunch of excuses for Jerry Jones !!!!! The cowboys hasn't wow a superbowl or championship game In almost 30 years how do you explained that ? That plame for the cowboys is on Jerry Jones !!!!
Reasons 1,2, and 4 prove Jerry IS to blame for the Cowboys coming apart in the late 90s. Jerry ran off Jimmy, Jerry hired Barry, and without Jimmy's eye for talent, Jerry couldn't solve the salary cap issue. Granted, Jimmy would've had to adjust to the cap, but he would've spotted players for the Cowboys.
@brandonmorris92 Barry Switzer resigned on his own I'm pretty sure. Had a miserable 1997 season and decided he was done, from the way Barry said it Jerry was actually stunned and didn't want Switzer to leave. Barry's words on the way out, Jerry you said 500 coaches could coach your team to a super bowl, you found one, there's 499 more.
It is true that Jerry had nothing to do with the salary cap or free agency and Jimmy had one foot out the door before the 500 coaches comment. But his refusal to hire a GM and other football people to navigate the salary cap and free agency has kept the Cowboys an underperforming franchise. The Cowboys drafted poorly after Jimmy's departure and couldn't find replacements for free agent defections and salary cap casualties. It's more than making front page moves. It's also about managing the back end of the roster. Jerry just isn't the right guy for the job and the Cowboys probably won't get back to the Super Bowl until he hires professionals for personnel management or he flat lines.
I’ll say this. As a Packers fan, I’m glad in hindsight the Cowboys dynasty collapsed. Since it opened the door for the Packers to win the Super Bowl in 1996 after losing back to back playoff games against the Cowboys.
Top 5 reasons you can't blame: The 1998 Vikings 2007 Patriots (🤦 yes, I'm still bitter about it) 2008 Lions Tom Brady going to Tampa Bay The Saints and their Bounty gate thing. Cam Newton and his celebration dances The Rich Kotite era of the New York Jets. The Chargers and Rams leaving San Diego and St. Louis.
Jerra undid what Jimmy built with only two trades. Jerra set the Cowboys back to the stone age by giving up all the draft picks for Roy Williams and Joey Gallaway.
The Top Reason You Can Blame Jerry Jones for the Collapse of the Cowboys: He’s responsible. “Jones said any one of 500 coaches could win with the revamped Cowboys.” Yet none did. Before anyone mentions Barry Switzer and Super Bowl XXX: 1. It was still the team Jimmy Johnson built. 2. The Cowboys only won that Super Bowl thanks to their REAL Super Bowl MVP: STEELERS QB Neil O’Donnell (Larry Brown (the NAMED MVP) didn’t intercept shit. O’Donnell threw those passes right to him, with no Steeler receiver within 10 yards of Brown). 3: Once the Cowboys TRULY became Switzer’s team, they promptly fell apart.
When Jerry Jones was not content to let the football guys run the team and stuck his nose in, it all went to shambles. He hired coach after coach, all incapable of doing the job, especially when they were just doing what Jerry told them to do. (Barry Switzer didn't seem to be all there mentally.) Even the legendary Bill Parcels could not help the team when saddled with Jerry's ego and his incessant interference. Jerry being the owner is like having a thoroughbred horse in a race pulling a loaded wagon. It is too big an obstacle to be able to win. After Jimmy Johnson left, I just started to drift away from being a Cowboys/football fan. Now I don't ever watch or keep up with the game. We as fans should have boycotted Jerry Jones at some point.
