Fair play for getting him on. The UK is not the country with the most CCTV cameras .. but it's in the top 3. Speed cameras in the UK are ridiculous. And he did play it right, because the fact that the UK has a speed camera network this wide and extensive .. and they didn't even follow protocol to check it ... or dismissed it to get a case .. is part of what got him off. It literally backfired for the prosecutor. Great story.
@ssu7653
@ssu7653 5 месяцев назад
I think what made the case, was the original investigator giving testemony that they DID check the camera network. That would have changed minds from "those cameras could prove him guilty if they only checked early enough" into more like "there is no case here" When there is a trial by jury, it is not ALL about what you can prove. If they think you did it, your fighting an uphill battle evidence or not.

@@ssu7653 Even magistrates can be biased. A friend of mine in a car club had photo and video proof that there were no "50 mph" temporary speed limit signs on a stretch of motorway where he got a ticket for doing 74mph in a 50, that was actually 70 since it was unsigned. The magistrates still found him guilty saying the presence of the roadwork cones (there were no roadworkers as it was night) should have been enough. Total shambles! The judiciary has nothing at all to do with the amount of publicity a case gets. That is the Media's job, and they know us so well they only bothered with the story they knew would be most eagerly read. The precedent was set because a Copper got clever. The CPS charged him FFS, so they were hardly trying to corruptly provide a get out of jail card for police officers. They also charged him because someone did their job and checked the mans black box readings, and even then they could all have just had a laugh and told the copper to slow down a bit, instead of spending thousands and wasting time going through a court case just to cover any future problems with a precedent. To even think that is serious 9/11 style idiocy. The guy in this video actually did what he was charged with, and got away with it because he argued his case better than those prosecuting him. That is our justice system. Short of getting God to step down and point at the guilty party, I can't think of a better system to have, than the British legal system. Can you?

@@LetoDKbecause if they can play the game of bending the rules to lock him up when they don’t have proof, they can do it to anyone. Unless they can prove it, they can’t lock him up for it, period. And they almost made the stumble of invalidating the whole speed camera network, which would’ve affected millions of tickets/people.

@Jabber-ig3iw
@Jabber-ig3iw 5 месяцев назад
Compared to the rest of Europe the UK is pretty lenient, you can pretty much do anything as long as it doesn’t impinge on safety or emission control measures. People have road legal drag cars with thousands of horsepower, and the more changes you make the fewer rules you have to obey, plus we don’t have to wait 25 years to import a car, you can buy any car from any country at any time.
@boilerhousegarage
@boilerhousegarage 5 месяцев назад
@@Jabber-ig3iw You can still import in the US; it just had to meet the State's emissions and safety standards (some cars can't at all). The 25 years is when even in California, it becomes exempt from that requirement.
