I agree, it's hilarious. In "Radiant Is The Blood of the Baboon Heart" Hank looks across the garden of the old Venture compound and sees his old adventures with his brother and "Mecha Shiva" is one of the things he sees. It was sad and funny at the same time.
I also like that their outfits in the "flashback" have Hank looking like Indiana Jones and Dean like Magnum P.I., which are aesthetics also used by the eponymous Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers of the 90's.
@@7vezda I neglected to mention the Indian Jones and Magnum PI references. Thanks for mentioning them. Also I definitely watched "Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers" on a regular basis, but I can't remember anything about it. Other than the characters being chipmunks the memory has been lost in the mists of time. It's nice to be reminded of them!
This is one of my favourite episodes of the Venture Bros. Not just from season 1, from the whole of the Venture Bros. It has some brilliant one liners "They kill clean. Don't let dames get in the way" and is the first real glimpse as to how vast the Ventureverse is.
Re: the confusion of the purpose of the trial, my interpretation of it is that Phantom Limb took advantage of a legitimate Guild op (nabbing Tiny Attorney) to exact his personal vendetta against the Monarch. This seems to be his first foray into "mixing business with pleasure," as he pulls a similar stunt in the Showdown at Cremation Creek season 2 finale, attacking the Monarch's wedding with the primary objective of drawing out and usurping Sovereign.
That makes complete sense. He was supposed to nab Tiny Attorney as part of his normal Guild duties, but he is a clever opportunist so decided to use the situation to his own ends. He had already asked Dr Girlfriend to get back with him during "Tag Sale You're It" so we already knew that he had an ambition for them to get back together, so he spied his chance and went for it. He has a very different personality to The Monarch - who is impulsive and controlled by his emotions, whereas he is very calm and analytical. He knew that the trial of an antagonist would flush Tiny Attorney out into the open, then "helpfully" suggested The Monarch to be the fall guy to facilitate it. Whilst knowing all along that he had his own reasons to get him out of the picture. Thanks for your comment. It definitely answers my question.
This episode has always really stayed in my mind. Especially the conversation when Dr Venture and Brock discuss the possibility of calling the Police on the Monarch and why they wouldn't do anything because The Guild has been bribing them. This conversation firmly placed The Venture Bros in the real world. Even if they have cloning technology and an anti-gravity device, they still have to operate within a mundane framework that the viewer can recognise. Not only that, The Guild can even manipulate the mundane framework. This made me suspend my disbelief when watching the show. Viewing The Monarch as an incredibly wealthy cosplayer who is a member of a shadowy organised crime syndicate/trade union makes him make sense as a character. Thank you for your kind words. I am glad you enjoyed the video!
@@derekrichardson9105 thank you! I have never seen Total Recall so I wasn't aware of this reference. I am off work this week so I think I will watch Total Recall this afternoon. 👍
I haven't seen anything specific on why the Guild is after Tiny Attorney. However, in this episode Tiny does say: "I have some experience with these supervillain types, there a speciality of mine". If Tiny Attorney specializes in prosecuting Super Villains, I could see why the Guild would be after him
@@gallopingdragon9427 that makes sense. Thanks for your comment. Phantom Limb shoots Tiny Attorney in Showdown at Cremation Creek Part 1 and up until that episode Phantom Limb was very much the career supervillain and always did what The Sovereign told him. His favourite MO appears to be combining whatever his career activity is with something to do with Dr Girlfriend so I think the whole Tiny Attorney situation was an excuse to put The Monarch in prison to get him out of the picture so he could pursue his relationship with Dr Girlfriend. Phantom Limb definitely went to a lot of effort to frame The Monarch for disappearing the Tom of Finland Police Officer. I was always confused about this. I was also confused as to why The Guild allowed the Monarch to stay out of prison, but this was quietly explained in "Victor Echo November".
